Paducah Tilghman 8 South Warren 7 Class 3A Playoffs
#1
south warren field goal in the final seconds hits the upright and falls away and tilghman holds on to win
#2
Typical Tilghman game, many dropped passes, endless penalties, confusion, used all timeouts early...but a stifling D won it for Tilghman. Derik Overstreet and Tre Coleman owned it.

SW had a legit chance to win....just not their night.

I would love to see a Belfry Paducah final!! We owe them one from back in 85.
#4
I guess I don't look so crazy now. I remember when they were 1-5 and got their d coordinator.
#5
Sorry got interrupted. After the change I predicted they would go to state. They r 1 game away.
#6
cant wait to see that Tilman/WC game, what time should I get there Tica,i will probally have on my Belfry gear..
#7
South Warren had serious problems punting the ball.

Our games start at 7pm. I generally am near the Carhartt crowd up near the pressbox. This will be a dandy of a game.
#8
I hope it's a little warmer next week.
#9
Congrats to PT. I expected more point in this one. Congrats to South Warren on a fine season.

Enough with the leather helmet talk, fellas. That was 8 years before my birth!
No in all seriousness, I have that game on DVD and I've watched it a few times. That PT team was really good... game was close for a little while.

Both got to beat good teams for the rematch.

That's what I was thinking. Not sure there's a whole lot of separation in the 4 teams remaining. Wayne may be the favorite to take it all based on how they've played all season and anyone who knocks off Central gets my respect. Bourbon Co is on a role, as well. People questioned there schedule, but, all they've done is dominate every playoff game they've played thus far. Belfry's been #1 all season long and is a yearly contender. No reason to feel any different now. PT may be the most athletic and talented team in the field. They're sometimes erratic, but, there D has been stellar for the last 7-8 weeks and no one has challenged themselves like they have this year. Anyone who can go toe to toe with Highlands for 3 1/2 qtrs. has to be respected. Gonna be some fun football the next 2 weeks.

If good fortune and strong play sees to it we both make it to state, I will show it to you!

All respect-Good times and good memories my warrior bretheren

Should it have been 7-6 SW?

Forward progress makes it not a safety. Bad call by the refs!

^
Agreed
The right tackle should also be spanked for completely screwing that up.
The right guard pulled and logged the end out.
Tackle should have blocked down.

Honestly, someone who makes the case that a safety in the first half (that still had SW in the lead 7-5 and winning the game) ultimately decides the outcome of a game is really grasping at straws. LOL. Why not show the vids of Tilghman sacking SW's QB over and over if you want to explain the loss. This call did not cost you the game. Your inability to run the ball and block cost you the game.

I am not a South Warren fan..just sharing the video.

Side note.. I was way off on calling Pikeville/Raceland an offensive shootout in the making..but I definitely nailed that this would be a defensive war
#22
It should not have been a safety. But, if not a safety there, they probably would have gotten a safety or a touchdown when PT went to block the punt with the punter on the back line.

Maybe...maybe not... but it is apparent PT wasn't going to score an offensive TD and struggled to gain yards themselves.

Maybe the horrible field position leads to a FG that makes it 9-7

Maybe PT blocks the punt for a TD or safety.

Maybe SW gets the punt off and PT's offense did what it did most the night and fail to score.

The only thing that is definite is:
A) That was a blown call that should have changed the score
B) PT still won thanks to their defense and a FG that hit the uprights.
#24
It was a blown call. I am guessing the side judge was not properly aligned. However, I have seen PT enough to know how good they are at blocking punts, esp when you don't have room. I would probably have bet my paycheck that they would block it from there.

You also projected McCracken to BG. How'd that work out?

Its pretty obvious you have been trying to gas up Mayfield's schedule. We all know Mayfield is the best team in 1A you don't have to preach how good the other teams you beat are we understand, and from the looks of Caldwell this weekend lets hope Mayfield gets to stay in 1A for your health sakes
#26
Point is - SW STILL had the lead after this play.
#27
Dont knoe why im takin up for u 55.....Jesus.. macracken was beat up.. they lost big deal grow up.. they had the same shot every other team had.. very talented first year school they shoulda made it and prob will innext few years.. still believe they were better than CH by several tds.. shit happens get over it.. sk and everybody else was sure of a win and a title shot to. But that didnt happen wabout trinity yes Caldwell too, central.. all great teams that just had a bad night .. just goes to show u it can happen to any team any night...it happens..its high school football. it dont have shit to do with who mayfield plays or not. Wat is wrong with u ppl and slurded commits about our schedual.. we are s school og less than 190 boys to choose from... look who we play look wat we do year in year out.. i believe most of the teams we play make it deep into the playoffs so i believe its safe to say we knoe talent every year at state we get to see the big boys play. We knoe wat the talent looks like at any level.. 55 might make some bad judgements but keep it between u and him . if it makes u feel better making dumbass commits like this well then by all means make urself look ignorant all u want..
#28
I would say our chances improved with that game result. That is, seeing how we also beat Murray. We would have learned from the loss against Caldwell, just as Murray did. They also have an old school Mayfield coach over there. That is what you do, you learn and hope you get another shot.
#29
Word is PT had a starting player and maybe another who did not play in this game for internal disciplinary reasons. Davis was back after taking a similar respite last week and had three nice catches.

It's a dang shame PT can't get more fans out for the games. I know it was biting cold, but that did not keep SW from nearly filling the visitor's side. I would guess PT had fewer than 500-600 there in an 8,500 capacity stadium. Same for Monroe County, they had as many there as Tilghman and that's a 3.5 hour drive. If this game had been in Mayfield, it would have been SRO.
#30
I agree Tica. I was expecting another 2,000 PT fans at our 100th meeting this year. I think we had more fans than PT in your stadium. The fan support for what is a good team is low.
