you asked about a bad call. you wonder why coaches and fans get so frustrated with high school officials. none of the other officials had the balls to tell this guy he missed the call. pause it and look at it. the wr never has the ball and drops it anyway.

Wow. Looks like a terrible call to me.
#3
I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head. Real genius.

I remember a game this year where a certain team pooch kicked after scoring. The ball hit the ground bounced back up and the kicking team recovered it. All 3 black hats signaled the ball to the kicking team. The white hat, a definite homer, came running in and signaled the ball to receiving team. His excuse, the receiver signaled fair catch, but never touched it or was touched. Real genius.

What region did this crew come from? These are the kinds of calls that should be reviewed, investigate a possible bias, and face disciplinary actions. The film shows the ref clearly in view of the play, what he was looking at is anyone's guess.
#6
That is really sad!!!!:hilarious:

This is a touchdown because the sideline official saw the ball hit the WR's hands and then saw his feet land in bounds. The official in the endzone probably couldn't tell the WR didn't have the ball until he fell down so he looked at the side judge to see what his call was and immediately agreed.

now, that doesn't make it the right call, but I can guess why they made that call. this proving that humans make mistakes and Liberty Mutual help cover mistakes.

And yes, that was a horrible call
#8
You could tell the official was guessing at it by his mannerisms. He looked at the back judge to make a signal. Im not commenting on whether it was good or not because its hard for me to see but you are right about HS officials not over-ruling each other. In HS, they just wont hardly ever do it. Something else HS referees do is "cover-your-buddy" flags. Many times, if one throws a flag, another one will throw one a couple seconds later to give the impression that the call was obvious. If there is a mistake made, they can simply wave the flag off. Im not saying all officials do this, simply some. There are many fine officials out there.

Bad call, but atleast it didnt affect the outcome.

Here's a thought if you think you could do better become an official. It's easy to call it seeing film try doing it live In a split second

Really? There was no one in his line of sight, nothing! Watch the film again and you'll see a kid on the sideline further down the line who even put his hands up at the call. How this ref/ crew got this far, I can't imagine. It's like a basketball ref saying its a 3 point shot when he took the shot from the free throw line, IF YOU CAN SMELL WHAT I"M COOKING?
#13
If something was obstructing the black hats view then yeah I could see him making a mistake. But that was clearly a blown call on purpose. Ray Charles could have gotten that one right. I really don't see how a grown man could sleep knowing he was cheating kids. Blows my mind.
#14
Clearly one of the worst calls I have ever seen. A lot of people making justifications for the referees...No justification for this one...can you imagine if a call like that is in one of the final four games this week?

Anyone who has been around sports their whole life, coached and ref'd knows this is an extremely bad call. When YOU become a ref, YOU put yourself in the spot light and YOU think your judgment is above everyone else's, that's why YOU do it. Don't make up excuses for guys who think they aren't capable of making mistakes. The right call, is if you don't know, you confer or change the call. IF YOU CAN'T GET IT RIGHT IN A SPLIT SECOND, MAYBE YOU SHOULD USE YOUR TIME MOONLIGHTING DOING SOMETHING ELSE.
#16
Bad call, I must say that was an excellent pass though.
#17
Yes, it was. This crew was from Ashland. Didn't NCC beat Ashland?? Would love to hear the explanation on why he felt that was a catch. Someone was ranting about making this call in a split second. I can by that, but the gosh darn ball is laying on the ground.......holding back from name calling......biting tongue......ok, rage gone
#18
Horrible position by both officials. Bj had plenty of time to reactand come over with the pass. Lj should be releasing with the recievers once he reads pass.
#19
NCC should've challenged the call... Wink
#20
This is why I wish they would go to 7 man crews after the first round of the playoffs.
#21
It's not as bad as this call

Fox 17: Ensworth coach ejected after win

Yep that was a bad call, no doubt. Not to many has mentioned the 4th down pass interference that was called on GC corner on the first drive of the 2nd half. The receiver hadn`t gone 5 yds and the ball wasn`t in the air. The corner was jamming him off the line and gets called for interference. Keeps NCC drive going, eventually scoring. Officials were horrible all night. But games over, congrats to NCC.

Only problem with this is the officials work 5 man all year. Then you want them to add 2 new positions and when you do your keys change, your responsibilities change, and its just a complete different system. This wouldnt work across the state IMO. Also the schools complain about paying the officials enough as it is. No way they are gonna agree to pay 2 more!

Yet they use 7 man crews for state championships. Why wait till then, why not do it the 3 rounds before state championships?
#25
Not unless they have started recently. I know for a fact in 2008 they used a normal 5 man crew. Now that was 5 years ago, but I dont see them not using it in the playoffs and then just throwing it out there. Although they might. Like I said, my last time was 2008.
#26
:dontthink So much for your credibilty!
#27
I said it wouldnt work across the state, to many crews not knowing how to work a 7 man. When you go to state as an official they have meetings with you and discuss EVERYTHING to make sure everyone knows whats going on. I can see them managing this with 6 games on site. not across the state at every level/

Ummm, it was on third down and the WR was about 15 yards down field and the corner tackled him on the sideline. Sorry, try again.
#29
Hmmm the film doesn`t lie. There shouldn`t have been a flag on that play. But there was. Bad officiating across the board.
#30
LOL, I was watching if he was in-bounds, after the 3rd time I do see he drops the pass, WOW. That video quality is excellent tho.
