Checking the forecast for our big game on Friday night with CAL, I see we have front moving in. The Louisville forecast is 90% rain. Heavy at times. How will this affect your games. this helps DeSales, as we love to run the football, and it will hurt CAL as they love to throw it around.

Find a synthetic turf field or postpone it a day if the game is otherwise unplayable. I find little satisfaction in watching indistinguishable swamp creatures crawling on their hands and knees in the mud all night.

Tilghman could ask to use McCracken's turf field I suppose. Not sure how much it is supposed to rain down here but the local NWS website is showing 70% chance of showers Thursday and 90% chance of "occasional showers" Friday afternoon tapering to a 50% chance Friday night with gusty winds and falling temps.

Locally. the impacted games would be @ Caldwell, Graves, Mayfield, and PT.

Collins plays on a turf field so hopefully it won't have too much of an effect on the game. They normally like to throw it around a ton but luckily they have worked a lot on their running game the past couple of weeks and can go to it if needed.

Looks like the rain will be moving out quicker than expected. Western KY games should be dry....Louisville area off and on maybe....Lexington on, pack the umbrella. Plenty of mud to go around for everyone...except us lucky ones...

As of now, all of the rain is passing north of Paducah, not a drop here ... yet. Expected to slide down later today and tonight.

Different weather forecasts are giving different times when the rains will slide east from the Purchase Area on Friday. Some say late afternoon. Some say early evening.

The one new word I have seen is thunderstorms, which can change things. Our out of town visitors might need to pack a bag.

its a shame Highlands has turf cause CovCath has had success against them in the mud

most crews and teams do a good job of keeping the balls dry enough to not affect the passing game that much. I don't see it hurting the passing game as much as it'll hurt the quick athletes on grass that use their cutting/juking abilities to make things happen.

We had a power running attack when i was in school, and i hated the rain.
Lineman never could keep there footing enough to stay on blocks and backs couldnt get enough speed to amount to anything.
I think rain is just plain bad for everyone.

Pikeville travels to Raceland. But playing on grass hasn't seemed to bother the Panthers too much this year when they have. I wasn't at the game against Phelps, which was played at old Vipperman Stadium. So I don't remember if the field was wet or dry that game. I do know last years team did well on wet fields, basically same players this year.

I loved it cause we were a block up field type of team. we pushed the line of scrimmage forward so the rain helped us because it was always a straight gain for our RB. but i can see what your saying.

I thought the rain would benefit Dixie against SK on Friday. It rained to beat heck the entire first half. Kuntz threw better in the rain than when it stopped in the second half. So I thought wrong and all I got was this lousy avatar nicker:!

Mind you it was played on fieldturf so footing wasn't much of an issue. I do see the rain having an impact on the games played on grass. SK-Butler game comes to mind.

I watched the mud bowl game between Covcath-Highlands from field level next to the cannon. Best HS game I've ever watched! So cheers to mud, it will slow some folks down and it will effect grip. May cause a turnover or two-three....

I just don't know if it is that easy to say rain always helps a running game. Sometimes you can't turn the corner and if you can't run it up the middle you have problems.

I think a wet, sloppy field hurts teams with speed. However on turf it should take little away from the speed players. Throwing the ball should not be a problem, most crews will keep ball in good shape. It's the same for both teams. Sometimes it comes down to who is mentally tough. Cold and wet can make some not eager to play!!!!

I picked the worst weather of the year to make the trip to Pike County and attend a game. Hopefully we play next week at Bourbon County and I only have a 15 minute drive then!

It has stopped raining already in Paducah or is barely sprinkling. More may come late tonight or tomorrow but I do not see the rain as that much of a game changer down this way one way or the other. It may rain more toward the central part or east but out here it has been somewhat of a gentle drizzle.

The rain is coming up from the gulf in a northeast track so the central & eastern portion of the state will get soaked tomorrow. I ran through a little rain in Magoffin County on my way to Belfry this evening.
