Soccer and KERA have changed the dynamics of Kentucky football forever. Whitley County and Knox Central have become good programs since the flow of money KERA created. They are on an even playing field now. Soccer takes athletes away from schools.

If there was a replacement for Jewell the best fit right now would be Greg Duncum. I do know that the kids like him a lot. From what I heard this past year if it wasn't for him a lot of the kids would have not played.
#35
How many state champions at Corbin since KERA?

The point is that it's time for a coaching change. The kids are tired of his attitude and Farris' offensive stupidity. Willard will not play the best kids if he has something against the family. Anybody that attends the games sees it. Jewell is arrogant and condensending to the players both in and out of the classroom. Ask pretty much any player in the past or present. I honestly dont think he intends to be that way but its just his personality coming out. Our team is so predictable and the overall atmosphere is negative. I attended a team potluck several weeks ago and you could actually feel the tension in the room. Jewell would make a good defensive line/linebackers coach but he's not getting it done as head coach. I think the biggest mistake he made this year was blaming the first Wayne loss on the kids. Those kids played their heart out and got beat by a better team. Afterwards they got picked apart by the coaches and blamed for everything. Since that loss they were not the same team. As a matter of fact he brought in all the players during school yesterday and berated them about what they did wrong. Great way to close out the season....one last butt chewing during school.

Go Big Red! Wrote:Ok it's basically the same thing as every year the talk around Corbin is the Jewell show is over!! I heard he may stay on the staff as a assistant but not the head coach. Has anyone else heard this and have you heard of a possible replacement?

Sorry Big Red, I'm afraid it will pretty much be the same for the next three years. His youngest son has three years left. Look for him to be starting RB next year and better athletes on the bench.

I pointed out to you in a earlier thread that you all had not played anyone and that you played your absolute best game you could have the first game against Wayne. The spanked your #$(# now go home and shut up. Get behind your boys and tell them to get in the weight room and get prepared for next year.

Dillon you are a snotty nosed troll who is consumed with Hound Envy. I love it when you post because it just reveals how pathetic you are. You try to stay away from Corbin threads but you just can't do it. That little troll voice of yours takes over. Big Red owns you!!! :redboxer:

If Coach Jewell does step down, he will not leave the cupboard bare. Corbin will return 9 starters on offense and 6 starters on defense. These are 15 different players as well, as I don't believe any of these kids started on both sides of the ball at the end of the season.

Go check for yourself. I'm sure you've already trolled my posts anyhow. I bet you will find 80-90 percent are Corbin only. You will find none where I berate another program. I point fingers in my own house. Keep up the Corbin hate....it fuels us redhound fans.

Corbin has been mediocre for years. It's time for a change. They are one of Kentucky's most storied programs and they have turned into a "has been". Their middle school program has been winning for years and just won the 7th grade championship this year. It's pretty obvious that the problem is the high school program. Jewel should know more than anyone that The Redhound Nation deserves better than they're getting. He grew up in the program. Corbin has the atheletes, facilities, and fan base to compete for a championship every year. They just need a leader to bring back the pride to a program that was once second to none. I hope it happens soon and not take 3 more years.

Just because the middle school wins doesnt mean automatic success at high school level
rockcastle had 2 good middle school teams and they went 4-18 their JR and SR year.

He did in fact call all the kids in and watch film yesterday morning. Guess who he was blaming? The kids he said it was their fault they loss and he did all he could. What a prick!! I agree this team has not been the same since the first Wayne game. He later all the blame in them that time too. If he would have maned up and took the blame the team would have came together instead of tearing it apart. I heard that the next few weeks the locker room was against each other and that the players were all pissed at each other. Great job Jewell u have done it again!! I know a lot of the kids that play or have played for Jewell and they all say the same no bonding between the coach and the team. Without that you don't win the games that count. If you cannot even go up to the coach and feel comfortable talking to him after four years of football something's wrong!! After him calling the kids down during school yesterday Jewell must be hearing the talk too!!! Get rid of him or corbin football will not recover anytime soon.

You can tell who is close to the corbin football program on here. Outsiders look in and say Corbin dressed 80 kids yeah but 79 of them cannot stand Jewell. It's the assistants that keep the kids out there. Most of the kids are underclassmen and they don't know Jewell yet. I don't have anything against Jewell as a person he's just not the right fit for what we expect as REDHOUND fans. I just finished reading the boys from Corbin that's a great book tells all about the schools sports programs and the community. I would encourage Jewell to pick up a copy and read it himself. He was part of that tradition at one time but it seems he has lost sight of what the football program is expected to do.

I hope he stays.. He really has helped Williamsburg out..

With today's kids it is all about relationships. The coaches at Bell Co. have great relationship with the players. Look how they play for those Coaches. Coach Jewell needs to get with the times or get out.

It seems like Jackson is very popular at Corbin.
Gets middle school kids out, wins with them, and keeps them playing.

Why hasnt he been considered yet?

I love Jackson as a person, role model, and he's a good middle school coach. Coaches need to understand the positive influence they can have on a kid's life. The only thing the seniors walk away with now is " my coach was a jerk ". It's such a sad situation and no one from the outside can understand it. He simply can't relate to them. He doesn't mean to be that way but that's just his personality.

I echo those exact statements!!! I have heard from several kids the last 4-5 years and they all have said the same exact way!!! I seen my highschool football coach a few weeks back hadn't seen him in years!! Guess what it was like we never missed a beat!! I really feel bad for all the seniors it sucks to have to walk a way with such a bad feeling about your football career!! I really don't think it's Jewell's intention I really believe that's just they way he is!! Jackson is a heck of a coach I've seen several kids play on state title teams and then quit their freshmen or sophomore year. The ones I have talked to all have said its because Jewell is a jerk!! I wish he would resign for the sake of redhound pride and tradition.

We feel you down the road.
Dressing 35-40 kids for a 5A school can only be blamed on one person.

If he would just get rid of Willard and at least try to build relationships with the kids it would be much better. I know that wont happen though. Ed McNeel you can fix this. You need to be thinking about what's right for the kids. This environment is not the answer. I challenge you to confidentially ask any Junior or Senior their opinion on the situation. I know you want people to come forward but they won't unless they are confident you will take action. You know how it is without all that anyhow. Parents won't a say anything in fear of reprisal toward their child and senior parents are so fed up they're glad it's over with.

I obviously never played at Corbin, but ive always hear Willard was the main problem.
A lot of older guys liked him back in the day, but it just didnt keep up over the years.

I think Corbin fans have given up on McNeel retiring. He'll probably go out in a casket. I dont know how much longer he will stay, but i guess getting longest running super in the state comes with its advantages. That story in the paper about what supers make says all you need to know.

I know, but it is a good indicator, added to everything else. The first Wayne County game was a good ballgame. What happened in the last game 36-0 ?
At the very least they were out coached. Time for a change.

How exactly do you get this kind of information? Not saying it isnt true, just wondering if its from a credible source.

I agree for Corbin to get back to the Corbin of old, it's time for a change. Jewell just so wrapped up in himself he can't see that these kids can't stand playing for him. But he will be at Corbin for at least 3 more years with his son still playing. I will be willing to bet that he will be starting RB too. Like was posted before with much better players on the bench.
#59
Now with the season over how many of these freshmen players will not return to play next year?? If things go the way they have in the past I would bet there is at least 5 or more that don't come back next year.

I dont know if this is the case or not, but i believe 100% when two teams play the first time and its close, and then the second time its a blowout, its all about getting outcoached.
