15th Region 2013-2014
#31
It will be interesting to see how the Valley fans handle an outsider taking all the shots away from their hometown boys. Agree about the smoke and hype the coaches caused in Cats Pause. It just shows how certain counties stick together and vote the same way to get their own teams and players "ranked" in the region. Doesn't mean a thing and doesn't do anything but give the other teams and players more motivation when the games start.

How is Betsy Layne considered among the top teams in the 15th? I saw them twice last year, and they got handled easily each time. Meade and Case are pretty much all they have, and neither can handle tight man to man D. Their fifth starter was JV material. Sorry, but I don't see it.

1. Johnson Central
2. Lawrence Co
3. Shelby Valley

These are the top 3 teams hands down. East Ridge stands the best chance to make a run outside of these teams with the addition of Wolter. Johnson Central returns a full stable, Lawrence has Josh Cook and Valley has great size and now a guard that can handle the rock. Don't be surprised if any of these teams spend some time or a lot of time in the top25 this year. The 15th will gain some respect back this year.

Sleeper Pick=Magoffin

The 15th is the weakest region in the state, Shelby Valley and Johnson Central will battle it out for the opportunity to go to Rupp.

Si-- agree with all said except sleeper team

Magoffin and East ridge are my two sleepers . I know Magoffin has got a lot of young talent.
#38
Johnson central best big men and Kyle gullet should be a really big play maker this year
Lawrence county best 3 point shoting team.

East ridge has a lot of experience
Shelby valley has real good inside players
Paintsville best coach plus a 6/9 big man
Sheldon Clark best guard
Anyone of these teams can win the 15 reagion
#39
Shelby Valley has a really good guard in the Carr kid too and he will get up shots. Will not be surprised if he leads region in scoring.

its johnson centrals region. they will be tough for anyone to handle but besides them its really wide open. sheldon clark has probably the best point gaurd in the region and will be tough. honestly dont sleep on betsy layne having a strong year, peyton case is as good as anyone in the region not named shane hall.
#41
It will be a all 57th region final again this year. Its just a shame only 2 of the top teams will make it to the region

Still don't see why everyone is on a Hall band wagon not as good as they give him credit for. To me he is not the best player in the region just the tallest. This region is dominated by guard play. If you don't have good guard play you can't compete. why he got MVP in region last year Idont know but he did nothing to deserve it

The thing is a lot of teams in the region have really good gaurds. sheldon clark, lawrence county, betsy layne, shelby valley all have good gaurds what has won johnson central the last two regional titles is the fact that no one has somebody with the height and athleticism that shane hall has. its hard to over sell the kid when hes committed to play D1 basketball.

Someone has been hitting the crack pipe to hard. The kid is legit. Very unselfish and takes a beating because of his height. Line all the kids up and you got 1st pick, you'd be a fool not to take Hall #1 in the 15th region.

I agree there are many good players in the 15th but Hall is a game changer. It not called a band wagon it’s called given a kid credit where credit is due. Too many people like to criticize kids out of jealousy of their own children.

Keep working hard young man, you got my vote.

Shane Hall is the dominant player in the 15th and just goes about his business with the personality he has. His Dad was the same manner when he played at McDowell and never said a word to hardly anyone. Just went about his business. Most defenses are trying to slow Hall down and he seems to be very unselfish so that only helps his team. They are the team to beat and may have a little trouble going to Rupp again but they have to be considered the favorite.

Watch out for Lawrence this year they have a lot of young guy but dang them boys are quick and athletic the Dalton brothers are looking really good from what ive seen so far! And like someone said they are the best 3 point shooting team you have kiser and richardson who can just absolutely stroke it

I have to agree with Johnson Central being at the top! I think that their consistence over the past few years can not be overlooked as they head into Hall's senior season. They should not have too much trouble getting through most of the matchups in the region. Really only 3 or 4 teams are set up to hang with Johnson Central.

Lawrence County would be my next pick with the over-abundance of young talent and depth. Next would be Shelby Valley with their new coach and solid inside outside play!

i'm not sure what depth at lawrence you are talking about. after football is over with we should know who is and is not playing. but from what i heard, several that played last year are not playing this year.

Did not know that. Just went with their players from last year. Best players are still rather young and thought that they should be set up with plenty of role players on the bench but if the football holdovers do not come back to be contributors LC should still be okay with their young talent. Thanks for the little tidbit of information with their roster.

It don't matter who plays for Lawrence ,the Dalton kid is going to take most of the shots.

as he should. either dalton kid. both are the best players on the team. don't you want the best players taking the most shots? i know i do. Confusednicker:

When I watched Lawrence play, the Chafins kid ,Kizer , and Richardson kid are good players and needs some shots. Lawrence is a good team just saying Dalton kids get to shoot a lot or they go back to West Virginia .

the kids you mentioned are good players. they also get their shots. but they support the two better players in the dalton brothers. these kids are all friends and a tight group. the only people making an issue of shots are the parents and people from the community that do not like two transfers (who did MOVE to louisa, unlike some transfers) coming in and are instantly better than everyone else. the offense should run through those two kids. every smart coach in America would do that. but the other kids also need to be ready when it is their turn to step up.

You people on here from Prestonsburg have no glue to 15th Region Basketball.

It is going to be very interesting to see how everyone will react to playing at the temporary Sheldon Clark gym in Warfield. I think the cards will have a heavy homecourt advantage since being forced to play in a middle school gymnasium.

Who are you referring to? I seem to be the only Prestonsburg fan posting on this thread. I don't see any comment I have made to get your "no glue" quote. :ChairHit:
