Russell @ Bourbon County 11/15

Turnovers especially the fumble returned for a TD , recovering a squib kick and a blocked punt had nothing to do with that I guess?

That's all part of the game and are things that Pikeville took advantage of. Pikeville is very explosive. As is Estep. But it's not like Pikeville shut them down either. Russell had one 100 yard rusher and two kids that had 90 some.

Sorry it offends you.

Cox has Done a good job managing the offense, atleast thats how it seems on paper. Recently having a 200 yd and 120 yard passig performances, another good sign for your back up, especially in HS, is taking care of the ball and making good decisions. With the running game Bourbon Co has, they will more than likely take a page out of McGlones book once they get ahead and grind it out. Im pulling for Russell, but thy are still a ear away from making noise and 2 years away from contetion in their class.

Russell keeps this game closer than many think though atleast for a half.

Bourbon Co 42
Russell. 24

I'd say that's pretty accurate.

Mason just surrendered 39 points to a less than average Powell Co. team. I am projecting a shootout!

Let's see how this Friday goes, then you can prepare for the dog!!! I'll wave
as I go bye this Friday headed to Mason.

I don't think that it will be a shootout at Mason. I think Garrard's Defense
will hold strong. Garrard likes to chew up the clock at times. The score will
be based on GC's D if they make stops it will be a big score for GC. If not GC
will chew the clock and keep the score down. One thing is for certain; there
will be points on the board for GC....

I have watched have you? Sorry if you didnt like the out come of the past games that the golden loins and Boco have played. just bc the Golden loins D couldnt stop Boco doesnt mean they are class less. we are not going to stop ourselfs. you should hope that Garrad doesnt have to come back to paris bc it will be just like last years playoff game over in the first 8 mins!!!!!

Not offended, and didn't say Pikeville shut them down. Pikeville made mistakes too - didn't cover onside kick, bad fake punt that gave Russell a very short field, and a turnover inside Russell 5...
Pikeville had the better offense (could run and pass), had the better defense (made some stops and forced some turnovers) and had better special teams. They were better in every area. Period.
Russell will continue to get better, no doubt about that...

I am going to disagree with the class status, but I will agree that GC didn't
stop Boco. Time will tell and I do hope the Lions are back in Bourbon that
means GC is back in the Regional Finals. It may turn out like last year, but
I will be there cheering for Garrard every second!!!

I've said all along that Russell is much in the same boat as Pikeville was last year. Young talent leading they way. A freshman and a sophomore as their two best skill players.

Pikeville won and was better. No doubt. But I do think the margin is a bit misleading.

Honestly I still can't believe Russell punted that ball before the half that got blocked. They have a punter that takes way too long to get a kick off and the only time Pikeville had stopped Russell was by turnovers.

Estep is a great player. Seems to really have a knack for being in the right spot.

Can you tell me exactly what bourbon did that was classless???? Watched a lot of their games myself and haven't seen anything that would deem them classless

They beat Garrard ... classless d-bags.

I think maybe JW is referring to last year at Garrard when things got a little chippy between the two teams late and I believe BoCo through a late touchdown pass with the game in hand.

as for FBALL I'm really not sure what he is talking about as he seems to be a Russell fan, and Bourbon hasn't played Russell in as long as I can remember. Unless he was at the Mason blowout last year and is upset that Mason couldn't validate last year's Russell team????
#73
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Teams sure didn't mind doing that to bourbon when they had a down season. Guess they were just making up for lost time

Everyone knows how I feel.. Until I see it on the field my opinion stands. Last
year was last year, we weren't ready and it showed. This year's game was
an embarrassment on both sides. I don't condone (what I consider foul
play). This years game saw 13 players injured, 8 sidelined for WH game. Some
of those were penalized, some were not. One that was not called was the intentional hit in the back on Shuey 20 yards from the play that resulted in a
broken wrist. A couple called were on kicking the player after the play. One of those sidelined the QB. Yes, tempers flare and things get heated that's
part of the game, but when things appear to be intentional, I have a problem.
I will always congratulate a team that wins with sportsmanship, integrity and
character just ask the Belfry faithful or for that matter our local rivalry with
Lincoln County. So that being said, this is will be my last post on the
matter. I had may say; I vented. Done!

Have a fair, safe and injury free game on Friday!

Garrard Fans are just butt hurt that can't get past Bourbon Co.(The BEST Garrard team of ALL TIME barely beat this team as sophmores) And a Golden Lion himself is the one handing it to them. Has Garrard County even gotten off the bus the last two times at Bourbon?

Anyways, I like this game for Bourbon, it might make them struggle a little on early. I still take Bourbon, but the running clock streak will end, unless Bourbon makes Russell throw the ball
#76
Obviously they weren't too bad if they didn't get flagged. The qb got hurt on a legal hit and was already dinged up. Just ask the coach. I hate to see any kid get hurt because it could cost them their future. But to say that bourbon hurt their kids on purpose is ridiculous. Just because someone gets hurt on a play doesn't make it dirty. When pope got hurt it wasn't a dirty play. Just apart of football.

jw4914 doesn't appear to actually do due dilligence on team facts or even watch games.
#78
Like I said before, Boco has a lot of talent and it is there's to lose (as I see it). They have
a very good shot at making it to BG.
#79
I never said classless. I said they had SOME obnoxious fans.

I think it is because they were down for so long and now go overboard a little that they have a very good team. It's got nothing to do with Mason County or Russell. It's go more to do with people on here. That whole "saved by the bell" thing was some of the dumbest stuff I ever witnessed.

By the way I've heard nothing but good things about coach Hodge.

I would say if Russell can throw the ball just enough to keep Bourbon honest is their best chance at staying in the game.

Russell is still a year away.

I haven't seen Russell play, but from watching Bourbon, I would say Russell's best chance of staying in this game is 3 yrds and a cloud of dust. The last thing you want to do against Bourbon is turn the ball over and when a running team starts passing, that is what happens. If Russell can hit Bourbon with one or two long sustained drives they will keep themselves in this game for a while. If not, and they start turning the ball over, this will get pretty ugly.

If Pope was 100% and playing I would say Russell has no shot at winning this game, but if Russell can somehow get a few stops and sustain a few drives, anything can happen.
#82
If Russell can just complete enough to make them respect the pass. They won't throw it much.
#83
I'm sure if you look closely, every team has SOME obnoxious fans. And you are correct. Coach Hodge and his assistants are the best thing to happen to the BoCo program in a long time. He has the respect of all the players AND parents, not just for a winning program but for what he teaches the boys off the field.

Why are Belfry fans so concerned with Pope's status? With or without Pope we all know they can't beat the Big Bad Pirates :eyeroll:

I think Russell, Mason/Garrard, or Belfry should be focused on stopping the horses bourbon has rode since Pope went down, and scoring against the defense that has given up 12 points in the 5 games he's been out.

Its no secret around here that his ankle is no where near the shape it needs to be in for him to get back on the field... If I had to guess I would say his season is over save a couple of snaps in Bourbon's last game (whenever that may be) just to let him be on the field for the final plays of his career, unless something drastic changes in his recovery.
