Unfortunately, I feel Betsy Layne has played a rather weak schedule this year...it's good to go 9-1 and it could potentially boost the overall morale of your program.
But sometimes playing a weaker schedule comes back to bite you in the playoffs. Somerset might not have the prettiest record, but they've played tougher competition and I like their chance in this game.
Somerset - 42
Betsy Layne - 20

Unless this is a baited field, the jumpers should roll-----tide (cant help myself)

BL in the upset of the Jumpers 57-56 and yes I know something about the Bobcats.

You don't know enough.

Betsy Layne 8

Won't even be close, bunnies name the score, running clock first half.

You may know something about the bobcats but apparently you know nothing about the Jumpers if you think BL can put 57 on our D. I'm going to say jumpers pitch the shutout till the 4th with a running clock 45-7.

Since the #2 seed in District 8 is 0-2 vs District 7 since the current setup was implemented it is not surprising. In fact, District 8 only has 2 wins in the two years of the current alignment. Both times their #1 seed beat District 7's #4 seed and then lost in the second round to District 7's #2 seed.
As for the records: Sure, Betsy Layne is 9-1 but the teams that they have played have a combined record of 30-69. 4 of their wins have come over 1A teams with a combined record of 7-33. Meanwhile, Somerset's opponents have a combined record of 56-34. There's been a huge difference in quality of schedule.

So you think Betsy Layne is going to score the most points on Somerset this year, and in recent memory? Not to mention the 2nd most points that Betsy Layne has scored this season? Good luck with that...You're not playing Phelps or Jenkins this week.

Don't know what you on, but you should share. BL could not score 57 on Somerset in 2 games. Get real!!!!!
:please:

Yall mad bros? Maybe due to being a three seed? Just chill and see what happens...BL by 14

Who ever wins this game really doesn't matter...everyone in the side of the bracket is playing for second place in 2a.

Somerset is very good and Betsy Lane in good.. Somerset is a different animal. IF Somerset lets Betsy Lane stay close it could be good because u don't let good teams stay in games because they may rise up at sometime in the game. But Somerset wins 42 to 20

I'd rather be playing for second place in the state than out first round of playoffs in a blowout

You forgot gettng spanked in the state championship...because that is what is going to happen.

Been there and done that. Still would take that than getting put out first round. Next week when Somerset is playing and BL is watching the highlights on WYMT ask the players for BL and see what they say.

BL #10 in 2A AP Poll this week...SHS Unranked

BL has had a great year and have come along way, their community should be proud of the coaches and players, with that said I think Somerset is getting healthy and coming together at the right time, both teams will battle and give all they got, in the end Somerset has too much talent and a coaching staff that knows how to put them in the best position to maximize thier play making ability, there aren't many that do it as well as them...Somerset wins a tough one....and makes a run toward BG...

Betsy Layne, welcome back to real football.

Somerset has beat 2 of those teams ranked in AP poll. Glasgow in a spanking and Middlesboro by 16. Don't put much faith in AP poll!!!!!

Betsy Layne has a great record, but played a very soft schedule. Somerset better not overlook them. I would love for the Bobcats to get the win but I don't see it happening. Somerset wins 40-32. Still pulling for BLHS and would be delighted if my prediction is proven wrong.

I would love to see Betsy Layne win this game, but as many have already said the soft regular season schedule does not prepare you for this type of game.
Betsy Layne has a very talented team and has came a long way over the last few years, but until the schedule adds some better competition they will not get over that next hump.
I would love for BL to serve me up a little crow Friday night, but I don't see it happening.
Somerset 45
Betsy Layne 22
Good luck Bobcats!!!!

Having a runner up trophy in your case is not bad. Anyone that thinks getting beat in the first round is better than losing in the state championship is clueless. Somerset 48-BL 12

it will be a fun game!

Somerset in a run away 52-20.

I agree. Betsy Layne has had a wonderful year. The schedule they have played has not prepared them for what the will see in Somerset. If Somerset shows up ready to play it will be a long night for Betsy Layne and the bus trip home will be much better. If Somerset shows up and goes through the motions they could be in trouble. Somerset by 28+.

I believe the Briar Jumpers are too much for Betsy Layne. Somerset wins 48-20.
11-06-2013, 03:02 PM
Betsy Layne, won games against Phelps 1-9, Sheldon Clark 0-9, Allen Central 2-8, Knott Co. Central 4-6, South Floyd 3-7, Leslie County 3-7 and Magoffin Co. 6-4. Not a real tough Schedule and will hurt them in play-offs.
11-06-2013, 03:46 PM
Betsy Layne wins by a single point. A two point conversion will be the difference by the Bobcat's.
