The BEARS are a little better than what most think. We survived, well I promised I won't say anything else about it but the Bears will ROLL. The BEARS will be pissed after this Friday and I think they realize they can't count on anything but their BROTHERHOOD. GO BEARS, BLACK THAT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been to Harlan County a couple of times and you have a great stadium. The team running out to you'll never leave Harlan alive is one of the best pre-game moments i have seen. The actual game atmoshphere though is horrible. There's way to much talking from your p.a. guy. Not enough music played during the game to build excitement. Basically nothing happens during the game to keep the crowd involved. And the place is almost too big. Fans are too spread out to feed off of each other's excitement. Just my opinion though.

I don't know which game you attended, but the post season last year which was our first in that stadium, we could've used more bleachers on the home side!! I wouldn't mind more music during the game, but our PA announcer is a native Harlan Countian and he's constantly talking about the things he most proud of, ie The Black Bears, coal, veterans, coal, football, coal..... I love him, and wouldn't know how to even start changing him! LOL
Sorry that you had a bad game experience!! Come back and eat with us before the game at tail gating. Bet that would change your mind!!!

I really like Rainbo and he's great at what he does. Talking about coal, veterans, etc is wonderful. However, sometimes there are better chances to do that. (between quarters, halftime) I thought Johnson Central did a great job of creating an atmosphere during actual game play. I wish we could move in that direction. There's no doubt Harlan County has the best pre-game atmosphere around--we just need to expand that to the actual game. This is not a knock on Rainbo at all--he is the best man for that job. We just need to tweak a few things to try to continue to make HC football the standard that others want to emulate in all aspects.

Johnson Central's music made some of our fans livid!!!! LOL I loved it! I thought it was great for the game, and really got a reaction. However, I must say I did not appreciate them using our theme song as we were leaving the game. Guess that proves how effective it really was.

I have to respond on Rainbow's part. Rainbow is an icon in Harlan County. Rainbow gets carried away sometimes BUT he is passionate about what he gets carried away. Rainbow was the right man for the job when this school started. Rainbow cares about this county, these kids and this school. So we don't play music on every break, PLEASE, excuse us but as far as our stadium being too big is absurd. We have filled that stadium the majority of Friday nights. Yes, there have been a couple, yes a couple of Friday nights that it has not filled but I think that is because of the team we played and we Harlan Countians saving money to come to good games not blow outs. You must have been one of those blow outs. This county LOVES their football and so don't ever second guess our atmosphere and base it on playing music during the game.

I can't think of anyone I would rather have than RJ! He is a county icon through and through!!!!! Go Bears, take care of business Friday!

I am a reasonable person. Yep, as an HC diehard I say we win going away in the first round against number 4 Lincoln, BUT, I will be honest I have no earthly idea about Lincoln besides they finished 4th in a VERY good district. So in saying that, what can we expect from Lincoln? I am just a fan that sits in the stands on Friday nights and second guesses everything but in all reality I know I know nothing. That is why I am in the stands and our wonderful coaches are on the field. Just trying to get a report on our opponent. Anybody?

Offensively, Lincoln will be in a pro I set (fb will offset at times). Occasionally they will line up with twins or unbalanced twins. They will run power, Iso, fb dive, fb trap, and sweep. They will throw the slant mainly with some playaction. Occasionally you will see bone or power I (with unbalance). When they spread, they usually run mirror routes or screens. When they go tripps to one side , they will sprint out. Defensively , I think they will be in a 6 man front (possibly GL vs Harlan power sets) and 44 if they spread any.
