Congratulations to Coach Haywood and the Belfry family from 99% of Lawrence County. As a young Coach about 14 years ago he took the time to sit and talk w me at a clinic in Cincy. A few years ago we sat down again at Belfry. You don't forget how people treat you coming up and he was 1st class. I know 99% of Lawrence County respects Belfry, their physicality, accomplishments and longevity of their program. As brothers in EKY we all feel the tightened job market, coal crunch, the pain pill epidemic etc. I've worked in S Willy and most of EKY for almost a decade. It's good to see your community and our state have a good reason to celebrate over a good man.
Good luck the rest of the season. Hope we all get to get after it again.

Did I not call the victory from the very beginning?
There is no doubt from what everybody says about Haywood that he is a class act and seems like a terrific guy. Best wishes to him as he continues to be a model of integrity for the young men of Belfry to follow.

You know, I have just been here thinking about what was just done. Everybody in this state should be proud of this accomplishment. Everybody on BGR should either post or like on this thread. No matter if you like Belfry or not, Phillip Haywood is a class act and one of the greatest to ever coach the game. I see no end in sight for Belfry to be a solid football team, especially as long as a Coach is there.

It's about time coach Haywood gets some national praise!!
From everything I have heard about him. He has always gotten the best out of each and everyone of his players. He is respected by all who have played for him and he has the upmost respect for them.
IMO a coach should be a mentor, friend, and a teacher and not just sports but in life. Coach Haywood has all of these qualities and then some.
A very deserving award to a very deserving man.
Congrats coach Haywood!!!
