Highest Jumpers in the State?
#1
Just curious of some of the high flyers across the bluegrass, one that comes to mind first is Justin Johnson of Perry
#2
Shane Hall has great leaping ability
#3
Austin Poindexter from Middlesboro can go get it! Very athletic forward.

Last season I'd give it to Jamar Ergas,, easily 40"+ vertical. This season,, from ones I've watched,, Dikembe Dixson,, few clips I've saw his elbow was even with the rim.

You do realize that 40 inch verticals are very rare. I think the highest ever at the NBA combines is something like 46. Jordan was only around 44.

Why do you think I gave the nod to Jamar for? He beat out some McDonalds all Americans in a dunk contest. Beating Julius Randle in the final I think it was? There's clips on YouTube of Jamar winning his dunk contest.

Jordan had a 48" vertical. Wilson guy from the globetrotters had a 55",, owns WR for dunking on a 12' goal, and some guy,, 5'10" has the world record at 60". Actually are 10 people with 50"+ on record. Randy Moss had a 51" and Spud Webb,, at 5'7" had a 46". Reggie Thompson claims to have the WR at 59" although Guinness has him at 56". More high flyer's than you think.

Not as rare as people think, at all, lol.

Randy Moss a 51"? Not trying to argue the fact but he was not close to a 51".
40 inch vertical jumps are like 4.4 and 4.3 40 x's. They are pretty rare and most get exposed at combines when they are tested the correct way.

Some are running 40s,, some are straight up 40s is how I read the article. Assume Randy's is a running 40.

I'm a little lost on the code here. I am just saying very few have a 40 plus vertical leap just like very few have a sub 4.3 or 4.4 40 time. Many claim to have both but when it is actually checked the correct way it is way below the said time or height. We are talking about the elite of the elite of athletes when someone has a 40 plus vertical or a sub4.3 or 4.4 40. You said someone had an easy 40 plus inch vertical and I just said I doubt that because they are rare. Kobe Bryant only has a 38 inch vertical. You also said Randy Moss has a 51 inch vertical and that is crazy. He has been checked out at a 39 inch. That is off the chart for someone of his size and height. He is an elite athlete. My only point was very few kids have a 40 plus vertical and I doubted someone had an easy 40 plus vertical.

Look him up. Jamar Ergas. He had a 39" as a 14 year old,, and was doing 360s with ease at 14. Won a dunk contest last year,, actually 2 one which beat out Julius Randle,, and the other winning by easily clearing a 7 footer. Played in Breathitt Co last season with 22ft academy. 6'3" guard with 2015 class. Not sure why you think I'm making it up for?

I will say Shane Hall. I know he is 6'8 or so but he dunks everything when he is around the rim. I will also agree 40 inch verticals in high school are hard to come by. Saying high schoolers have a 40 inch vertical is like saying they run a 4.4 in 40 yard sprint. Not happening very often at all in high school. If there was that many great athletes around Kentucky then they would all be playing big time football and basketball.

Not a person on earth can have a 59 inch vert. lol I really don't think that many have 40. David Thompson was said to have a 44. He could leap out of the gym. Now everyone and his brother is 44 plus. You guys will believe anything. I would like for you to explain to me the exact and proper way to measure this.
#16
David Thompson had crazy arm length tho!!! Not much on the vertical!!!
#17
50 inch vert is not that rare what so ever I can name 5 right off the top of my head? Jacob Tucker the first to come to mind.
#18
Simon Kenton's Brenan Kuntz according to Hudl.com he has a 37 inch vertical I seen dunk many of times.

tristan fraley from lee. right at 6'0ft tall and can rip it off

Meaning done by professionals with the proper equipment and making sure the correct techniques are used when doing a vertical jump. Similar to the hand timed 40's done by the high school coach or the guys brother. They say they run a 4.4 or 4.3 40 but are shocked when they get clocked at a 4.6 at a combine. Considering DJ Stephenson has the highest vertical ever recorded by the NBA at the combines at 46 I really doubt all these 40 inch verticals from high school kids in KY.

Correct way to measure a verticle is have player extend his arms to higest level on a tape on a wall (record ) then jump off two feet with no step-see how far he reaches on the tape and subtract his original reach. A 40 inch verticle would be outstanding.

Wow!!!! I have a thousand bucks if you can show me a guy that (just for example ) is 6 ft tall can stand flat footed under the rim, take no step, forget that I will give him a step and he hit his head on the rim (10 ft rim). I will give you a year to find one. Don't tell me about him tell me where I need to be and when so I can see it. I will give him a grand also.
