Nevertheless, The first half was scary for us Belfry fans, and exciting for the PC fans but when Belfry came out after halftime, and made those big plays, the momentum shifted and Belfry started to play football... Haywood made a decision to start pressuring the QB and it paid off.... It was like he was running for his life.....Now dont let all these IF's get to some of you..after all, all sports are filled with them.... CONGRATS PIRATES....
I am an avid Hawks fan, and to say the least, I was happy with a 19 point lead vs belfry. However, you can never rule the pirates out. They are so disciplined and well coached they are always a threat. It doesn't matter if they are down by 4 TD's IMO. I'd love to see PCCHS beat Belfry but by golly you have got to show them some respect and know that they are going to make adjustments at the half and get a little more motivated. PC should've came out with a few adjustments of their own. Congrats Pond Creek!

I will be honest, I haven't read the other two pages but I do want to congratulate the Pirates and I really hope to see you in BG this year AGAIN but this year I truly believe you will bring home another title to the mountains.

Seems like I remember Belfry fumbling a time or two. Oh my bad they got the ball back and practically carried into the endzone. Re Re's

Talking about having The Ref's on their side. Next week won't help you even with The Ref's giving you the ball. They could even give you the ball, points, and even take away JC Td's and they still have a running clock on you. And I am thinking about moving down there and running for Mayor of Belfry but not sure what part of WV I should move to. #voteforTHEBIGDAWG

I'm very proud of this Pike Central team, they played with alot of heart & determination tonight.
For the folks complaining about the late TD that Belfry scored...please, just give it a rest.
You never know, Belfry could have fumbled the ball again...4/5 plays later PC could have scored and made it a 1 possesion game again.
I saw no wrong-doing with it.
Honestly tho, I felt that this was the best that Pike Central has ever played Belfry...we could be looking at a rematch in the regional semi-final, but lets take it one game at a time.
Congrats Belfry faithful.

Pike Central is a lot better than most have given them credit for.

Leonidas is the only Belfry fan speaking the truth in this thread. Belfry has a nice 3A team but they are not nearly as good as the past two seasons. The secondary is not as good. The linebackers are not as good. The DE's are not as good. The D Line is about the same.
Offensively, the backs are tad better, but aren't in rhythm due to injuries. The oline has performed well but is probably a tad less than last season. Taylor at WR is an improvement but he has been plagued by drops at times.
The biggest concern for me is the defense. They are young and inexperienced. They don't seem to be getting better at reading their keys and playing fast. The second concern is the lack of execution/ fumbles from the offense. Against a semifinal/final team, Belfry will not overcome 4 turnovers. The defense can't get the stops.
Johnson Central is going to humble a lot of Belfry fans next week. To the extent any of the kids need a wake up call, I'd like to think trailing by 12 at halftime to Pike Central would get their attention.

There you go thinking agian. Be careful, don't strain to hard. Besides, it doesn't matter if all of Belfry is from WVa. We are completely legal. The thing is, Lawrence County sucks so bad they can't even get kids to walk 5 min. across a bridge to play for them because they suck so bad. An the entire town of Fort Gay is about the size of my yard and still the kids don't want to go play for a mediocre team, at least more mediocre than there own. Maybe you all should start winning a few games and kids will want to come and play there.

And to say that we will be humbled is slightly overstating it. Yes, we want our team to win, but we have been through losses before, and big losses at that. One as a matter of fact was against JC a few years ago. I myself have said that Belfry would have to play a near perfect game to get the win and that hasn't happened yet this year. I would love to see this one come down to the wire. Gonna be a good one.

Everyone knows Bourbon has played a weak schedule... but they have absolutely crushed every team in their path as the result. Garrard County and Lincoln County are similar level of teams to Lawrence County/Pike Central/ Southwestern... but unlike Belfry who gave up points and needed 4 Quarters to win.. Bourbon made short work of them and had a running clock.
I think their weak schedule will hurt them in a close game and when the speed of the game is on a different level, but at the same time a weak schedule does not mean the team who obliterates those they play are weak as well.
We forget that offensively Bourbon gave Belfry some fits last year, specifically Pope. Bourbon returns 9 starters from that offense. Belfry's defense isn't playing anywhere close to the level of last year's team at this point.

This team is not a defensive juggernaut by any means but as a team they haven't played their best ball yet. They will roll to the semis and then let the chips fall. They definitely have their liabilities but they are still odds on favorites to get to BG....who is gonna beat them is my question?
Wayne Co or Central take your pick. I like Belfry and you have a good program but what got all the Belfry hate going was some of the Belfry posters acting like they were just going to Bowling Green because there name is Belfry. What got me going is that I don't have on those red and white tinted glasses and being a person on the outside looking in was not blinded to the fact that this team is down just a little from last year and that your schedule to this point was masking that.

I have said for weeks tha Johnson Central would kill Belfry but I don't really think that.
I think it will be a good game but this is the only team frome the area on your schedule that is good enough to beat you and I think this game will fully expose the holes in this Belfry defense that teams like Lawrence and Pike could only give us a small sample of.

Shame Bourbon County's schedule is so weak. It is hard to know how good they are with that schedule. They will get the chance to prove it when the playoffs start.

Pike Central has been quiet on these post and boards all year, even now as they fell to a good Belfry team, but good May not be enough to secure a place in BG this year. No one has posted the tale of two halves on this board? Yes Belfry had several turnovers in the first half, and went into the locker room down 26-14.... Pike Central picked up in the second half where Belfry left off in the first half? Some turn overs can be given credit to the other teams defense, and some as decision turnovers.... Such as going for it on 4th and 11. While still in the mix for a win has to be marked up to poor coaching move! This play left a very short field forBelfry after a snap over the QB hands! On the choice to go for a forth down attempt, PC should have made that attempt instead of a field goal... Especially after having a extra point blocked early in the game just my thought? If you don't get the score, Belfry has 96 yards to go, and at this point in the game, PC had the MO on their side...could have, should have... Who cares, game over, Belfry won this match up, the two teams could meet again, hope both are healthy, and our not so good PC team continues to get better... Best of luck to Belfry next week at JC, and good luck to our Hawks at Perry Central...

I agree with what you have said here, especially the part about JC being able to fully expose the holes in the Belfry D... To be honest, thats what they need going into the playoffs so they can mend those holes up...

10-26-2013, 01:03 PM
All these post act as though Pike Central was blessed by the football gods to lead at halftime? If most could think back, Pike Central jumps out to a good start... Lac was down 26-6 before making a hard fought comeback to almost win that game, and Pike Central jumped out a couple of TD's on Fairview (that other Ashland team) before they let that one slip through their fingers? Pike Central has had some success this year, but when it comes to them year in and year out.... They are just lucky... If that is why they were up 26-14 at the half against a good Belfry team... Pond Creek better hope Pike Central is not lucky for two halves! IMO "...........

maybe PC can knock off BC and come back to Cam and see if they can have 2 good halfs and Belfry have 2 good halfs,if thats the case i still like Belfry by a couple scores...
