Belfry 56 Pike Central 34
#1
Pirates turn it over 3 times in their first 8 plays and PC capitalizes to jump out to a 19-0 lead...then it was all Belfry.

Pirates outscore PC 42-8 in the 2nd Half and claim the District Title.

Not very pretty whatsoever as Belfry has a looooooong way to go to think about beating a team as good as Bourbon County down the line.

Next week may get ugly if Belfry doesn't clean their game up.

Belfry calls a timeout with a minute left on the PC 14 up 49-34, then takes a knee, wait scratch that, runs one in to rub it in.

Stay classy boys.

Congrats Belfry...started rough but finishes...

What a come back by the pirates

I would love to see us put together a complete game ONE TIME this year. This waiting till the second half to play kills me. Congrats Pirates. On to the next one.

We was just trying to post another score to help you Pikeville guys look better. If you compare scores it appears yet again that Pikeville is the 3rd best team in the county.

Ole jp has became an expert at reaching for straws about margin of defeat.. at least MIddlesboro fans will keep him occupied tonight since they lost. Poor guy would lose sleep hoping and praying that there is at least some shred to hold on to that "Belfry = Bad and Pikeville = Good" Big Grin

A lot closer than the final score indicates, great effort by the hawks.
Would love to see these two meet again in the playoffs.

^^^^ how is that ?after the 1st when Belfry laid it on the ground so many times and PC was up 19-0 it was all Belfry in 2nd half, just think how it would of been had they not put it on the ground...

Yes and No

PC lead the entire Half....

But Belfry also outscored them a whopping 56-15 after the fumble frenzy to open the game.

It can be argued that the game was closer..but at the same time could be argued that the Final Score doesn't do justice to how the majority of the game went.

One thing that PC definitely deserves credit for is their 19 points were not the product of having the ball set up on a silver platter in the redzone. All three scores required PC to establish a medium sized drive to capitalize... PC also answered Belfry with a score once Belfry appeared to take momentum.

Definitely something for PC to build off.

Glad to see that Belfry was able to make such a come back and win this game with ease in the 2nd Half! Me personally, I think the players may have been looking ahead to the Johnson Central game in the first half which I don't blame them for it. It will be the game of the year in EKY! I'm sure Coach Haywood got their attention during halftime and you can tell from the outcome that they were playing with complete focus in the 2nd Half!

Congrats Pirates!

Surprisingly the turning point wasn't Halftime itself. Two Freshmen made a pair of plays that changed the complexion

Belfry coughed the ball up on their very first play from scrimmage to set PC up deep in their territory. Belfry then tried to extend the PC drive with an offsides penalty on 4th Down when PC was ready to settle for a FG attempt to potentially extend their lead to 15. PC brought the offense back on the field and proceeded to collect a delay of game. They then opted to try the FG again and Belfry blocked it and got a nice return by Freshman Austin Hall.

Belfry converted it into 7 then on the ensuing possession Freshman Ray Horton got in Justice's face for the first time all night and created an INT. Belfry quickly converted on the next play and it was a whole new game.

The play of the game was PC inside the Belfry 10 with 4th and 2 or three...they get a delay of game and then try a field goal which is blocked and returned to the 50...

PC scores a TD to make it 33-14 and we are having a completely different discussion IMO.

Hawks put a big scare into Belfry.

What a joke...PC can't tackle a straight handoff...sorry not running it up... You turn it over 4 times and still post 56...Not even close as to who the second best team in the county is.

For once and only once I agree with JP...that was a tide turning play.

What I find Hilarious and a question you give up 34 points to Pike Central? And The One Comment I keep going back to The Comment of All Comments. That Belfry could beat Highlands!!!!!!!!!!!!
#22
Congratulations Belfry!
#23
Congrats Pirates:Thumbs: Keep working learn from your mistakes & move on:notworthy

Go Big Red:redboxer:

We're not very good if a Chapman coached PCC team scores 34 points.

Red tinted glasses cloud the view of thought 99% of the time on this board. If a team can't be ready to play in the 1st quarter of a district game then they aren't much of a contender in my book

Fumbles, penalties, and piss poor tackling won't win squat outside of Pike county. Watch next week and you'll see what I mean.

jetpilot and thebigdawg would masturbate to a Belfry loss! :Sad04:

Well they better get the lube ready for next week. If the Pirates can't fix the mental mistakes, fumbles and find a way to improve their defense it will be all Johnson Central next week along with an early playoff exit to follow.

^^^Now that's funny, I don't care who your team is.
