I will say again A Blind Retarded Monkey would do much better than the idiots I have seen this Year.

1 thing I think would help is to do away with crews.
Individual officials should be assigned to a different Referee each week and also a different position. This would make officials know mechanics of all positions and also be on top of their game as far as rules and hustling.
There should be 2 years mandatory middle fresh JV ball with more experienced officials.
There should be an observer at least 4 times a year to watch each official.
There should also be a meeting before season and toward end of season to watch film and go over things as far as rules, mechanics etc.
We will never agree on judgment calls but not hustling, being out of position and not knowing rules shouldn't happen.

In the 14th their is no crews. You work with a different set of people almost weekly. Now with only about 15 refs in the 14th you see a lot of the same people. But no set crews. I actually think crews would help officiating though. When you work with a different white hat and other people every week you have to learn there style and tempo of how they call. If you work with the same guys every week you quickly learn what their strengths and weaknesses are. You know what they are going to be able to cover. This allows everyone to be on the same page and pick each other up and know whats expected of you.

Why would you want to work someone in a different position every week? Theres only about 8-11 games a year an official is going to get to work. 5 different positions. Why have him learning at the varsity level? Why not have him master one position and make sure your guys know exactly what to do in every situation?

2 years of mandatory ball is a great idea. But like someone said, you simply dont have that luxury all the time. Your lucky if you can get all the games covered. What you dont see though is most of these guys work almost 6 days a week doing every level of ball from youth to varsity. They arent just showing up on Fridays.

Whos going to pay for this observer you talk about. This is the job of that regions assigner. He goes out and watched tapes of his crews and evaluates them. But again other then telling them what to work on what else can he do? But with your work every position idea when the evaluater is telling a guy how to get better in one position you want him to move to another the next week.

Meeting happen all year. Not an issue. Also I guarantee any white hat has a full understanding of the rules and how to apply them. Nothing happens in a football game without him. So no new guy can blow something awful. The white hat will make sure what he calls is legit and then make the appropriate decision.

Then like everyone else says. Its one thing to complain, its another to try ot do the job. the mountains are hurting for new officials right now. Please not as an insult, but I encourage anyone to get involved.

I think every week they should take random volunteers from the stands to call the games. This would show just how hard and serious the real officials take their jobs.

If you can do better, why do you choose to sit back and allow the problem to continue? Seems to me that you are clueless and rather than trying to solve the problem, you would rather sit back and complain.:dudecomeon:
