Paintsville @ Fairview 10/11
#31
Hope the tigers can pull off the win but fairview by 8.
#32
The tigers definitely have the edge in the coaching department as well. This one is going to be a barn burner. It feels good to actually be winning again and I can't wait for Friday to get here.

These posts would be a much better reading experience, if some of the posters would use punctuation. It doesn't have to be perfect, hell, I just throw some commas in when I get tired from typing.

Also, consider proof reading as well. Thank you and carry on.

Paintsville D against Fairview O. Can Paintsville stop the Eagles?

How do you figure Tigers have the edge in coaching ? McPeek has done nothing but win , & his coaching staff includes well seasoned coaches who some played D1 college . One of his newest asst. coaches on his staff has served both as a D, & O coordinator on 10 state championship winning teams .
#36
I would like to see what this one would be like if both teams had their key players back. King and I think Kash for Paintsville. Then no one would be second guessing. I am really impressed with the turn around by Paintsville. It kind of reminds me of the quick turn around Pikeville made at the end of last year.

FHS asst Barry Scroggins has coached either as a D coordinator or O coord. Under head coach Roy Craycraft on 10 state championship winning teams for the CK ( Ceredo Kenova ) Wonders in Kenova WVA . That school is now part of Spring Valley High . Look it up yourself , before you make yourself look more foolish

State Championships in west by gawd in 1963 - 94 as an assistant. Phelps could've won those games. Still think Paintsville has the better staff. Fairview & their 27 game winning streak, only 5 wins are legit, the rest are garbage winsConfusedinglepar. You & RussellPride keep Scroggin the red kool aid!

You are just clueless , & classless . When was the last win Paintsville had that wasnt garbage ? When was their last State Championship appearance ? When was their last Regional win ? FHS i agree is not what they were last yr , but they are 6-0 beating Lawerence Co , Bellevue , Hazard, & Pike Co Central . Who has Paintsville beat this yr ? Phelps? Nice to see PHS finally getting some wins , but FHS has definitely played the tougher schedule . Dont get me wrong anything can happen on a Friday night

I think people have been underestimating Fairview all year for one reason or another. I know Paintsville is much better and I am happy to see it, but I think a lot of people who are picking Paintsville to win this game will eat a lot of crow come Saturday morning. A lot of people on BGR said last year when they found out that Fairview would lose all of that offensive backfield that they were done, but look what they are doing. You also cant say that they don't have a better schedule this year either. When I look at Fairview this year they remind me of Belfry. When I say that I don't mean I think they are as good as Belfry, but they are in the same boat as Belfry. They lost some from last year and have a lot of new and young kids but those new and young kids are very very talented. If you look at the thread where Lawrence and Fairview went at it in week 3 I think, you will see that I said that King is fast and a good athelete, but he isn't even the best RB they have. King is like a do it all player who can return kicks and line up as reciever or TB, but if you are picking Paintsvill to win just because King is out and you think it will stop the Fairview run game then you will be shocked. I believe more people on this site need to actually go see teams play a little before they try to comment on said team.

Fairview rolls in this one.

All Fairview does is win.

I agree completely. I saw Fairview an Hazard play and I can tell you Faiview is the real deal. They aren't quite as good as last years team but they still have a good team that is loaded with talented athletes. I saw Paintsville play in a scrimmage before the season started and while they are better than they have been in the past, they are still a year or two away from making any serious noise. I know you can't really take too much away from a preseason scrimmage but based on what I have seen from both teams, Fairview has way too much talent for Paintsville to handle this year. I don't think this game will be close at all and I think Fairview will have a running clock against Paintsville. Yes King is a huge loss but Fairview has other really good players who can step up. Paintsville played good with Pikeville a few weeks back but I think Paintsville caught Pikeville off guard and if they were to play again it would not be as close of a game.
#45
WOW, that is a big statement, a running clock. I haven't seen them play. I really don't know if Paintsville stands a chance, esp without Kash. I don't think it will be a running clock though. I don't think the Eagles can be that much better, if they are, than Pikeville. I just simply said that I would like to see Paintsville win, you know the Cinderella kind of story and that I would like to see the two teams play with a full roster. I hate when teams lose kids and you really don't know what the game would have actually looked like if they were there when it counted.

By the way, I didn't realize the recruited their coaches from out of state as well. Has the Virginia's got anything left.

Coach Scroggins was hardly recruited . He retired a couple yrs ago , & came to FHS this yr on his own because his grandson who was born & raised in Westwood is Fairview's starting Sophomore qb Alex Roy
#47
Talon, lighten up. Just having a little fun. That is all I heard last year was about the recruits. It doesn't really matter to me. That is part of football. Just gotta have something to bust someone's chops about.

Anybody could win with the talent that Fairview has and with the talent they're getting from West Virginia.

Didn't they wear leather helmets back then?

Now you sound like my son.

55's dad wore a leather helmet. That explains some of his posts.

Not to put a dog in the fight, but I do see both sides here. Paintsville has vastly improved, BUT, there's no way they have the better staff. Nate and his staff have managed to win the games they should and all of the ones they should, the only thing they havent done through out this streak is beat the team they shouldnt have, Mayfield. That constitutes this staff and program as one of the best in 1A and legit contenders for the title. NOW with that said...

Though they have an impressive regular season record, a couple district titles, one regional championship, and a state championship apperance, imo doesnt leave anyone in Fairview the right to make the statement "When's their last regional win or state championship apperance"?

Maybe I took it out of context, if so I am sorry. But historically, Fairview hasnt done anywhere near what Paintsville has done. The 2000s werent kind to Paintsville so its refreshing to see them on the rise. Its been a long while since we had atleast 5 teams in our area with winning records. It will bode well for all these teams to prepare then for nky/wky/mtn teams they all face in the late playoffs, in the years to come.

haha the only thing Fairview and Belfry have in common is all the WV license plates at the games...Belfry would beat Fairview by 50

Kind of what I thought.

Paintsville's Kent Phelps rushed for 240 yds against Pikeville, none of those yards produced a touchdown. All 3 of Paintsville's tds came from Kash Daniels and from inside the redzone. What that tells me is they relied heavily of Phelps to get them into position and Kash to find the endzone. Fairview is probably steonger upfront than Pikeville but Pikeville is generally a smaller and faster line, that is very good with their assignments. So it is hard to gauge what to expect. I do believe the Tigers have improved, but at this poit in the season I think Fairview's offense is better than Pikeville's was when Paintsville nearly beat them. Fairview's defense is still a little suspect. I say Paintsville keeps it close for 3 1/2 quarters, then get down a td or two late and start throwing and Fairview manages a turnover score.

Fairview's defense is going to have to step up and get better. No team can really afford to give up 24 pts/game late in the playoffs and expect to win, eventually u will meet a well ballanced team that can score just as easily as u can, thats when the good and great teams get decided out. As for this Friday, Fairview's defense will be good and opportunistic enough to win by 2 or 3 scores.
#56
Paintsville is kind of in a no lose situation I think. That is even if they lose this game, they have improved vastly over last year. They may make them feel a little less tight going into this game. Fairview on the other hand could be a little tight. That can also be a help. Not that it will matter though.
#57
I will say this, if I weren't from Mayfield, I would be very excited about this district. This is the toughest overall district in 1a in the state. You have a district with 3 good teams that have spent time in the top ten. I know we have the top 2 over here but to have 3 in one district is awesome. Maybe someday the two Fulton's will combine and we can have the same thing.
#58
Daniels won't be back for this game. Kent Phelps should be the one you guys are worried about.
#59
I'll say this everyone is forgetting about Philly has had 2 weeks to practice for this game I saw them on a Sunday and staying late at night practicing
