Does home field advantage really matter in football?
#1
I think so,what about you all......
#2
yes, the blackcats started out with 5 straight away games, not blaming the season on this, but it didn't help

Home field is a HUGE advantage in football. Just being able to be on a normal schedule, have a large following, and avoid a long bus ride. All things that I think are huge advantages for home teams in football.
#4
I would say it does.

I would say YES ask Russell this year. It helped against Belfry and almost killed us at Newport. I think that it does.
#6
Yes. I agree it was big for Russell this year.

Comfort on the home field and with supporters......there has to be at least an advantage.
#11
I think just playing at home helps a player alot.....
#12
long bus rides to away games are the worst, thats why i lke home field
#13
yes and no..
only if the away team lets it get to them

some away teams step up and play big in front of a home teams crowd to try and shut them up..
some teams can't handle a different atmosphere than what they're use to and dont play to their potential
#14
I cant hardly believe this question came up! Having half of the student body and alumni plus parents and the general community intensifies the atmosphere so much

as weird as this is going to sound, i actually loved playing on the road. The fans dont play the games, and if your focused, LIKE YOU SHOULD BE, then the noise wont matter. No crowd in high school football is loud enough to disrupt what happens on the field. As far as coaching, i still like road games. But as a player, nothing is better than beating a team on their own field. And if you got 10 players on that field with you that believe the same way, then playing on the road is fun. Count me as one that says home field is overrated.

I'd have to say......I'd rather play in the gates of hell as Belfry....there fans are about on that level...I mean that in a positive way......class act!
#17
yes

It's big for Belfry every season so I'd say yes !

That was a tough schedule ! going against Hazard, Pikeville, Paintsville, Ashland, and Sheldon Clark Not too many teams could beat those guys !

Even the away games are like home games to Belfry!!! Last season I could remember telling my wife that we had more fans than the home teams including the playoff game at Russell. Well maybe not at Russell but awfully dang close.
