And he connected on his two point pass to Truman Salyer.

Congrats to the Eagles on a dominating win. Really thought this was no contest after what Belfry did on the road.

Yep...forgot that one.

There is something different about this group. This is a special team.

Pulp Fiction Wrote:I talked to some people from Ashland this week, and they all said that both Ironton and Ashland are down from their usual status.

Johnson Central will have a running clock on both those teams, there next real test wont be until Belfry. That will be a good one, that will settle the bragging rights for the year and both teams should be peaking going into the playoffs.

Congratulations Johnson Central on a hard hitting, great win! I loved watching Pack's kicking game; even before the game started he was warming up that huge leg with 40 and 45 yard field goals and making every single one. He's going to be a factor at JC for a long time!!

Nice meeting Do-double-gg and Bob Seger!!! I really really enjoyed our visits.

Well the Black Bears must get back to work maybe even starting from scratch. We did very little tonight that was positive. It was like I had never seen that particuliar team play before....odd.

Pulp Fiction.....we enjoyed your music and even danced to it!!! Didn't like hearing our entry song though!!!

Bob Seger, the next time you tell me to look for your T-shirt, you need to WEAR it!!! I was stopping strange men and looking intently at their chest for 10 minutes tonight. A couple of them sorta liked it!!!

Sadly, I did.
Ive thought JC was better than Belfry all year and then to see Belfry shut down HC, i expected more of the same.
This is not a knock to Belfry, but i fully believe JC is the best team east of I75

Im glad the two play. That will definitely be game of the week material.

HC will progress. There district is much weaker than the two teams they lost to. It will only help them prepare for Pulaski and Madison Southern.

I felt like I was watching Travis shoot Ol Yeller over and over again in that first half.

The worst showing ever for Harlan County and that includes beat downs by Bell and Highlands!

Hard pill to swallow, I've got nothing.

Your were right about one thing Granny Bear, I don't think there was anybody kissing underneath the bleachers, but there was a running clock.
#41
Speaking of running clocks, anybody know why it quit running so much tonight?

Im sure Matney was trying to score more...:hilarious:

No trust me, he could have!
#44
If Coach Matney had been trying to score in the 2nd half, I'm sure there would not have been nearly as many delay-of-game penalties as there were. I believe making sure there were no injuries were was his main objective.
#45
I am just wondering what the rule actually says. The clock keeper was just doing what the ref was signaling. It stopped 3-4 times for penalties.

Bob Seger Wrote:And not one person has mentioned that Harlan Co. had to start, I think all but one kickoff possession from their own 20, because almost every kickoff was sent deep into the end zone. That will be a huge weapon for the next 3 years.

Ive said it over and over and over again.
A great kicker in kentucky high school football is the best weapon a team can have. In a state where 90% of the teams are 90% run, its extremely hard to score a lot when your starting from your own 20 everytime.

Its the best thing you can have!
Sounds like JC has an all star in the making.

Black Bears didn't show up. Several missed assignments and fumbling it away, I think, 4 if not 5 times in the first half. This was not the Black Bears I know. One note, very important that the Black Bears rid themselves of a bad apple and get back to the Black Bears I know and playing to their capability before that bad apple spoils several other apples. The Black Bears didn't show. JC was not playing the Black Bears I know. Belfry was a bad night, tonight they never got off the bus.
#48
Will have to say this one shocked me. Thought I would be a much closer game. Guess you can say JC is the real deal this year.
#49
JC has a great team and will make a long run. Nice kicker and nice running game. Black Bears were totally out of sync. Black Bears need to get EVERYONE at film study, correct, and begin a week of true Black Bear practice. Unify theTEAM of Black Bears. Back to their capability. JC beat the socks of them and took advantage of their bumbles, but the Black Bears were nowhere near their capabilty. Get to work Black Bears.

Is it to early to start Highlands talk in JC country?
From the looks of it, nobody will stand in the way of JC on there way to meet Highlands in the region championship this year.....Cov Caths whole team seems to be hurt according to reports on here. How does JC match up to Highlands this year. Region would be at Highlands this year correct?

And dont give me that one week at a time crap. There isnt a single head coach on here so its okay to look ahead. Whats its going to be JC fans?
#51
Johnson Central was 1 for 3 passing.
The two-point conversion passes don't count in stats.
#52
Congratulations Golden Eagles! I've never been a JC fan and I like and follow Harlan County, but you have definitely gotten my attention and respect. I can't remember even hearing about another team being as dominate as you were until you got the running clock. I'll be following you the rest of the season.
#53
Great job Golden eagles!!!!
#54
Extremely impressive. Looks like I'll be having grilled crow this morning.

^^
Wash it down with a cold one; it sinks easier!!

My comments were made in jest toward a couple JC posters that wanted to argue; not sarcastic.
That said, I was under the bleachers with Bob Seger AND Do-double-gg at the same time. So, figure it out.

HC fans are good people hope our two teams play a many year. Good luck the rest of the season And know this tough schedule you have ,really will serve you in play off time
#57
I agree! I was thrilled to pick up Belfry and JC this year. But we have to make the games competitive; we have to show up to play.

So for us; we gotta figure out where we are going, and how much it means, if anything, to our team.

Don't even know how to begin to come back at that one Granny....

Well, do-double-gg is a straight shooter and kinda serious. He was bent over laughing at this one guy who kept coming back with a smile, and asking me what I wanted. I simply told him I needed to see his chest. Eagles had already put me in a deep shocking depression, so I was vulnerable.

Seger, I have a corner in my home that I keep "special" things...things that really mean something to me. I have my grandmother's old pedal sewing machine there, some old glass milk bottles that my daddy used to deliver, ceramic Christmas tree that my sister in law made and finished a month before she passed at 48 years....you get the picture. You know what's going above that sewing machine on my wall, don't you. That was the nicest and most thoughtful thing, in the world, that you did. I want to publicly thank you for it. I plan to post a picture of that just as soon as my grandchildren show me how to upload it. I will post in here, on BGR.
