Middlesboro 28 Bell County 14
#31
Jackets surging with a big win. Congrats.

I really think Mboro could've beaten bell by 3tds or more.. Bells bad but the Boro is very very good they have a shot at going undefeated..

You know that Rock's program has fallen when they become the "I cannot believe your team lost to THEM" team Sad

Riutg bell is not what they have been in the past but to say they are not going to get any better u r kidding and you know football haha:hilarious: I have watched every game and like I said earlier seen some bad but also seen some good and have seen improvement every week

wildcats fan Wrote:Congrats to Mboro. They have some nice athletes. Easier to get excited though when you win one every 10-15 years. Bell has a lot of younger kids on the field and know they will keep working, Coach Mills does a nice job.

It make a better rivalry when both teams win some.

I'm tempted to be like Gut and say I knew it all along, but I'm shocked. I saw Middlesboro last season and didn't see any way they could play within 20 of Bell, no matter how much Bell lost.
#38
This is a small shot...sorry. Just a little different in knowing football and writing about it.

I sure didnt think Bell would fall off that fast as well, but it seems it has been on the steady decline ever since Dudley walked out the door. I dont think its Mills or his system, I think its just that the talent has dried up.

you should say the recruiting has dried up.

Nice win!! Congrats! Keep it up.

I did not think they could do that on Log Mountian. I was wrong.

Good Win.

We have to regroup, alot of work to do this week. We have lost three player for awhile. I hope they recover soon.

We also have to throw the ball more. Middlesboro had 9 players within 6 yards of the ball?
#44
It's hard to follow a legion, Middlesboro has a very good team and should win the district this year.
#45
Everyone is talking about how bad Bell is but I think they may be a little surprised. Bell is still a very fast, very athletic team. Middlesboro is just a bigger, faster, stronger team. It especially showed on the O and D lines. Middlesboro won the game there. They were just stronger and more physical. I think the lights not working played in Middlesboro's favor.

Either way, maybe you guys are right. Maybe the talent has dried up. Dudley is a smart man, maybe he got out why he could, foreseeing a future drop off

I know for a fact because I know alot of former Bell County players very well, and they were recruited away from area schools by Dudley Hilton. I dont know if anyones parents got pay raises or the kids got grades they did not earn but I do know they recruited up there. I am sorry coaches are coaches and kids are kids but there is no freaking way that kids that live in between and on the outskirts of Middlesboro and Pineville can be so much better than kids they live next door to. Bell has been taking the best from Middlesboro and Pineville for years and may still be taking the Pineville best which I can understand more but could it be that the Middlesboro best have remained loyal to Middlesboro instead of tailing it out over to Bell County to leave the cupboard bare at Middlesboro?

Fact is I believe Bell County is gonna become average at best with some good teams mixed in year to year because now that Dudley is gone and the Dudley culture is gone the Tennessee kids and the Middlesboro kids are gonna remain loyal to their hometown and school system the came through and the Bell County domination of Middlesboro will end. I am not saying Bell will not beat Middlesboro but I really believe this thing is gonna even out.

Folks you cant be great every single season there is gonna be down times, although Bell is still pretty good they are not state power good. I dont believe Middlesboro will win state either but no matter how you slice it Middlesboro is the superior team for this season at least and as a Middlesboro alum I will take it.

Since you are such a Bell County recruiting expert, why don't u start naming the players that were supposedly recruited!! You and everyone else is forgetting that parents and kids want to be part of a winning tradition, so naturally they will be more likely to come to Bell. Also you are forgetting that kids from Yellow Creek are actually Bell Co not Middlesbrough kids!
#48
I'm no Bell-Middlesboro expert, but I always heard Middlesboro got Bell's players in the 60s and 70s and Bell just started keeping them in the 80s. Bell's district does extend around Middlesboro.

Bell County reminds me of Johnson Central.. A lot of bark but no bite!! :hilarious:

If you have a quality coach and a administration that backs the program you do not have to recruit they will come.

They are talking about Tennessee. Dudley did for years, so did Middlesboro. Dudley just kept doing it. Middlesboro didn't.

I've seen Middlesboro play this year. We've known they had talent. Bell lost 16 seniors and have young kids. They aren't the talent they have been and all teams have years like that. I be read posts saying Dudley, Dudley. This has nothing to do with Dudley. He left when talent declined. Coach Mills and this staff has been both years he has been here to the Louisville Central game just as they should have. Dudley did an excellent job but even he didn't win it all every year. Last year Bell played Louisville Central down to the wire Closer than anyone in the state and then won it all. That shows how good bell was last year. This year we have 6 seniors and all underclassmen with that. Weve faced injuries of starters and no one plans for that. Middlesboro won this one and the past 15 Bell won. That's celebration time for them and rightly so. But, it hasn't happened often and will continue to be rare. Coach Mills knows his stuff. You play the talent you have and this is what we have barring injuries. These coaches will work to do what they have to do to adjust and get the most out of our kids. He has the respect of his players and parents and that says a lot. Just wait. Bell will be fine. They will be back.
#54
Bell has fallen off from what? They are never as good as they think they are. The fans on here hype them up and then won't admit they didn't meet expectations after they get smacked.
#55
Bell is down no doubt, we've got young guys in the trenches who will get better. Give Mboro some props though, they've got a good team. And by the way, they'd kick Whitley's tail 7 days a week.
#56
We've also got some good teams coming up through the middle school , our 8th grade team is good and our 11/12 year olds are loaded with speed and size.
#57
It is hard to survive losing 3 of your better players in a span of about 2 quarters and win a ball game. Especially when you add this on top of being young already. Middlesboro took advantadge as they should have but BELL WILL BE FINE.

Bell did play Central a close game. With the exception of the 78-20 drubbing of Casey Co so did everyone else that faced them in the playoffs. Not just Bell.

Wayne Co 21-18
Bell Co 14-10
Monroe Co 18-13
Belfry 12-6 in OT

Give Middlesboro credit. They got a huge win for their program. Congratulations to former Bell County asst. Randy Frasier. He appears to be doing a nice job over there. I was really impressed with them and they will make some noise this year. To my knowledge it seemed most people handled things with class.

As for Bell we have been a little spoiled for a while with great teams. This team I believe has great teams. The fact is we are very young this year and while I believe the talent is there we have some growing pains. I believe these boys will get better as the year progresses and we will have a quality football team!

The tables have turned around this is our county.
We are going all the way this year state championship!!!!

As an outsider looking in, I hope all M'boro fans are not this delusional. Bell may be down, but they will be back, and someone may be eating some serious crow in the future. History has shown, all Championship programs go through down periods, and this happens to be a period when the Bobcats are down. Anyone who knows anything about football knows this isn't a vintage Bell County team, if it were, the Bobcats would beat M'Boro easily. There are a lot of top programs who are down this year in our area such as; Breathitt, Somerset, Bell, Hazard, Prestonsburg, Ashland, and others I am not thinking of. My point is, if you defeat someone that beats you year after year, be gracious, because too much trash talk, will come back to bite you in the rear. Good luck to both teams on the remainder of the season!!!!!!!!
