I'd say Sani would appreciate it more if they got to spend a little more time on pass blocking in practice.
But yes, the line opened up some big holes for the backs to run through. Just don't expect anybody in the Johnson family to sing the praises of any kid not named Johnson.

This is a very big if but, if Southwestern can eliminate the mistakes and minimize the penalties, I think this game is closer than everyone expects. I don't think that anyone is taking into consideration that despite 10 penalties, SW still should have beaten Somerset. I already know the argument is that Somerset made to the Red Zone several times and did not convert but, that just shows that SW has an underrated red zone defense. I think the Warriors make a game out of it, at least in the first half.

I think Southwestern severely over-scheduled this season. They are staring an 0-7 start squarely in the face. I don't see them winning more than 2 games.

Coach Haywood now has 363 wins. The coach with the most now has 603 career wins. That means Coach Haywood would need 240 wins just to catch that guy and you know since the coach with 603 current wins is still coaching so that number is going to get even bigger than what it already is. Say that coach retires after this season and his team wins 10 games, that would put him at 611 all time wins. Say Belfry wins 13 games this year. That would put Coach Haywood's all time wins at 374. If Coach Haywood remains the coach at Belfry, Belfry would have to average 10 wins per season for the next 24 years in order to become the all time winningest coach in the nation. Say they didn't lose a game (they went undefeated including state championship) which we all know is pretty much impossible even though that's what we all want, he would have to coach another 16 seasons to reach that goal. That would be just crazy. I don't know exactly how old Coach Haywood is put I'm sure he's around 62 or 63 so that would put him around 80 coaching if he wanted to break that record.

Coach could care less about those wins....Coach wakes up every morning just wanting to make young boys better as men....And he does that very well....Now years later i see that playing football at BELFRY was alot more than sacking a QB or catching a touchdown pass....

Truer words have never been spoken. Faith, Family, Football, that IS coach Haywood. Every time he is praised for his accomplishments he always directs it toward the kids or the coaching staff's hard work, he never takes credit. And although he will never be the winningest coach in the nation, there's no one in the nation that we would trade him for. We are lucky and honored that he chose to stay at Belfry for 30 years.

Southwestern showing improvement each week, but just can't seem to put the game away. Corbin should have been a win, the weakest team played so far. Knox County loss was on the coaches, should have kicked the field goal and at least played a second OT. Somerset made too many mistakes to go home with a win last Friday. Unfortunately, SW defense seems to "take a play off" at the worst time. Hopefully Belfry will overlook the Warriors and play a little loose. Southwestern is big and don't give up easily so maybe it will be a decent game.

I agree 1991#8 but I was just stating to show everyone how remarkable for coach. I bet the Coach that has the 600 wins is a legend in that community just like coach haywood is for us in Belfry. Coach Haywood would be much more satisfied knowing that he taught each young man that spent 4 years playing football for him about life and made them into better human beings way more than he taught them the game of football. You use things 10, 20, and even 30 years after you graduate in your daily life that don't even relate to football that Coach Haywood taught you during your 4 years playing football.

What hasnt been mention is the guy in first place has been coaching for 61 YEARS!
Thats crazy. The guy has got to be 80 years old atleast. He started in 1952.
As stated in the first paragraph in the article, the most dominant coach ive ever heard of is Bob Ladouceur of De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
I think almost everyone has heard of De Lesalles dominance. I remember them going year and year without a single loss, and the guy was the winner of 399 games and owner of an incredible .937 winning percentage (399-25-3).
That ridicolous!
To only lose 25 games with 400 wins is astonishing. I bet he can remember every second of everyone of those losses. I think ill do some research on him. I bet its a good read.

Another intersting note.....lets say Mueller of Highlands coaches for 50 years or longer.
I wonder what his current win record stands out now? Im sure the Highlands faithful could tell us....
If he were to keep Highlands in the dominant stage they are throughout his career, then at atleast 13-14 wins a season, one would think he could come close to that mark eventually.

It is hard to imagine coaches lasting 40 years at one school with the pressure of modern education. Teachers jobs have become much more stressful over the last twenty years.

http://www.maxpreps.com/news/R1dxafYoZUK...-years.htm (Btw the picture they have of Dale Mueller on here isn't him. It's Lexington Catholic's Coach. Just seen that and thought I'd point it out.
Here's a site that has the winningest high school football coaches of the past 10 years. It shows which coaches has the most wins in the past 10 years. George Quarles (Maryville, TN) has the most wins in the past 10 years with 143. That's an average of 14.3 wins per season on a 15 game schedule. During those 10 years includes a 74 game winning streak (6th longest ever). Second is Alcoa,TN with 130 wins who is a big rival of Maryville and home to Randall Cobb. Alcoa is the team that beat Bell County when Coach Hilton was still there. Dale Mueller of Highlands, Ky is tied for 3rd on the list with 128. Coach Bob Beatty of Trinity (Louisville, KY) is also on the list with 126 wins in the past 10 years.

This website shows Belfry's past 9 years because that's far back as Maxpreps dates back to. Belfry's record since the 2004 season is 108-23. I know Belfry was 13-2 in 2003 when they won their first state championship. So that would make Belfry's record the past 10 years 121-25. That's pretty remarkable if you think about it. It also shows the home record and the away record, district, and non-district record, plus more. If anyone can come up with

Not so much that I enjoy stats, I was just wanting everyone to see just how remarkable Coach Haywood's record is and how he ranks against the other great coaches in the nation. Coach Haywood isn't just one of the best in the state of Kentucky. He's one of the best in the whole United Sates. To do what he's done, you have to be very good at what you do for a very long time.

the warriors head coach has 48 wins in his career (37% win pct). thats 315 behind Coach Haywood. winning 3 or 4 games per year, he only needs to coach 100 years to become the most successful coach in state history. go get em coach stevens REBEL PRIDE
