16th Region Preview
#1
What are your predictions for this region this season? Who are the top teams and players?
#2
With Burn's injury i think it opens the door for Ashland to be the favorite. I know Lewis is gonna have a tough team and so is Boyd? What is Rowan gonna look like? Thacker always does a great job at tourney time.
#3
ashland or rowan will win region
#4
I thing Rowan will be ok, but their best player had ACL surgery too. Plus they will be a LOT smaller than they have been in the past.
#5
I agree Ashland and Rowan have a good shot but you cannot count out the defending Champs Fleming County. I also believe Lewis is going to have something to say about it and i think Boyd could also make a run. The 16th Region has a handful of teams that could win the region with a few others like Elliott, East Carter, Morgan and Raceland being right there looking to knock someone off and claim their seat in the regional tourney. Should be a great year for basketball in the 16th region.
#6
I will bet the farm that Burns is back for Fleming by January. If he is anything close to what he was, and I know he is working his butt off to be that, then they are going to repeat. The only one that might knock them out may be Ashland. It won't be Lewis or Rowan.

Rowan may dominate the next 2 seasons after this one though.
#7
Region is ripe for an upset- injuries will likely play a big part in who can make it to Rupp. If you are looking for a fundamentally sound program-Morgan County would be where to look at being able to withstand the season. They do need a big though
#8
Perry better get with the foreign exchange folks again then!

Heard all weekend that Dixon was leaving Ashland and headed to Thomas Nelson. Is there any truth to this? I did not believe it when i heard it but maybe someone on here can shed some light on this issue.
#10
It took quite a bit to get him to Ashland, I can't imagine how sweet that pot must be if he goes to Thomas Nelson.
#11
You may be right. Thats just what i had heard. I really doubt it is true though. Why would he leave for Thomas Nelson?
#12
Dixon and Cuz are bolting from the putty tats for the Bluegrass.

Lexington or Thomas Nelson.

I guess Mrs Dixon got transferred again.
#13
This is back to back weeks these rumors are flying about Dixson leaving. Do we know more this week about him really leaving?
#14
Has the well dried up downtown?
#15
Heard they where both gone to Lexington. If so, may be a long year the the Tomcats.
#16
Bryan Station
#17
Now with the recent news of the Dixson cousins leaving and Fleming County's top player coming off of a recent knee surgery how would you rank the 16th?
#18
How good can Ashland be without the Dixson cousins?

About as good as in the last decade- mediocre at best.

Whats going on in the 16th ? Anybody got any news on this region?

If Burns returns healthy it's game over. If not, then there are several teams that can win it.

Is Russell going to dress a team this year? Heard they were going to be so bad they were going to save themselves the embarasment:hilarious:

That region is up in the air. Ashland was favored but not now with the exit of a player or two,it shakes things up.Fleming County and Rowan would be my top choices right now of coming out of the region.Really like the chemistry of Morgan though.

Yeah, prob a little too harsh since we are talking about HS kids, my apologies. Does anyone have any info on Russell, whos back, what type of players and team will they have, any good young kids coming up.
#27
Raceland should have a decent run this year. Off season has brought some really nice changes to the RAMS. Nice additions to last years team and all the boys who do not play football have been in the gym like crazy. Raceland's height this year may surprise people. Looks good this year I think.

Morgan? lol

Rowan must have improved since the summer. They didn't look very good when I saw them.
#29
This is for mightydog. What a jerk! Russell has had some unlucky breaks this summer. Their starting point guard had surgery to remove a tumor from his leg, and their starting center broke his leg in summer ball and again last week.
So as far as I'm concerned you can take your ignorant comments and shove them straight up your ??????

From what i have heard around Maysville, the kid that left Mason for Lewis should put Lewis in the driver seat in the preseason.
