With the Dials kid from Lawrence Co. now at JC he will be a force on the D-side of the ball he might have been LC best D lineman he was put on the line late in the season and he was a force thier but I really don't think he likes playing on the line he like the linebacker spot and he does a fair job thier also just a little slow for that spot but still he's a player that you all will come to love

I am glad to hear that! I saw him the other day, he is huge! I heard he plays baseball as well. Is he good in that sport?

He did play baseball for LC he was an outfielder and did some pitching but mostly in JV games. He also played basketball last year but only JV this kid has the tools to do what ever he wont's to do but I think his heart is in football I have watched him play sence he was five years old he has been pushed hard by is father and maybe thats why he has turn out like he has he plays hard and he wil give every thing he has on the field . I am looking forward to watching him play this year when JC come to the Dawg Pound I hope he has a good game but I am hopeing that maybe JC as a team will be over looking us after the Kind of beating you all gave us last year I would love to see the district start out with an upset because I think JC will be preseason #1 in are district. After that game I hope JC run's the table and beats every one else around here . Which I think they could go 10-0 but I would love to see one loss . :BigLaugh:

I am glad someone finally said that!!!! All this crap on here is nothing. The only thing that counts is the score when it is all over. Theres no way anyone can make predictions on the game this early. Even though i hope JC does win, there is no way you can come into a game thinking that you are going to run all over the other team because more than likely you will get beat every time.

It's been about 5 years since I've been to JC's field, so I don't know what all may have changed. Of course these are all new players and Matney has turned around the program and made them part of the best of the district.

Is there still only seating on one side of the stadium? Is there still a very large crowning on the field to the effect that you can't see the other sideline while standing on one of them and can only see about chest and up of most of the players on the opposite sideline?

Also, as I said before, I know a lot has changed at the JC program since 2001, but Ashland is accustomed to going into 4 of the best atmospheres (3 of them against them) in Eastern Kentucky.

They're frequent travelers to Lawrence County, Russell, and Ironton (OH). A hostile atmosphere won't bother these players.

Ashland's last visit to Johnson Central was actually a quite pleasant one. We arrived early and watched a Paintsville team win the opener. Then we warmed up and coasted to a 38-14 win for the season opener as Arliss Beach ran for over 300 yards.

The all-time series has Ashland winning 5-1 over Johnson Central at this point. Granted though, is Johnson Central has done a good job at protecting their home turf where the series is knotted 1-1.

Good Luck to both teams, hopefully it will be for the district title, but any team in the district could surprise and steal it. It should be a very good, and very defense ball game, even much more so than this past season.

Well, as being part of the ground crew for the stadium, I can promise that no hose, or any water besides rain water, was used on the field. The same pouring rains that attending through most of the first half of the game, had been going on and off for the previous 3 days leading up to the game, as well as the day of the game.

Do you really think a passing team would want to limit their offense to only 13 passes or so? In 99% of cases, a muddy field will tremendously help a running team and hamper a passing team.

For a passing team:

A quarterback would have much problems trying to catch (shotgun), grip and throw a wet ball. Receivers would have a hard time catching a heavier, wet ball but would have an advantage of running routes because they know where they're going and a DB doesn't. Offensive linemen have to try to plant their feet in mud to prevent a pass rusher coming full steam at/around them. Running backs either have to plant in mud like linemen or run routes like a receiver so they change. Those are all things that effect a passing team in wet conditions.

For a running team:

Little QB problems except in receiving the snap and handoffs, no problem with receivers (since they won't be catching much for a running team) except when trying to move to block a moving defensive player, offensive linemen have a large advantage of driving players attempting to hold their ground in mud. Running backs have major trouble cutting. Those are all things that effect a running team in wet conditions.

For every player on the field, the chances of fumbling is much higher so this effects both teams.

Obviously, the wet weather effects both teams in good and bad ways. But, most people will say that a wet, muddy field is a larger advantage for a running team.

So please, drop the fuss about the wet field. Putnam Stadium is nice (very nice early in the season before the wear and tear), but it's not a dome. It rains in Ashland. It rained most of the week, and through a large portion early in the game. That's just the luck of the draw. And to be honest, uninformed fans in Ashland would be doing the same complaining after the game that the weather "cost us the game." But that is why they are uninformed.

What film did u see biggun??.....lol.....i was playin and didnt see any sprinklers. We need to quit makin excuses and just get ready for next year when we have them at home. what is done is done and there is nothin we can do about it.
