I kinda agree with you both. The SEKC allows kids to get recognition at end of year. ie player of year, back of year etc. The conference does require you have a conference scrimmage but it does NOT determine who you play. That is left to the coaches. However sometimes teams may agree and other teams may just have to pick up whats left.

williamsburgh is a great team, they didnt lose many if any last year.. there very talented and very strong up front on both sides of the ball, and they have some depth.. an speaking of middlesboro, we play bell in the city county bowl, no if an or buts about it because it helps raise money, an its one of the biggest rivalrys in state.. other then that, idk about the other teams on the schedule, but the jackets are guna give everyone a run for there money this year.. IMO

Whitley has not averaged one win per year against a non district opponent who has a larger enrollment than them over the last ten years. If you take North Laurel out of consideration they have not averaged 1.5 wins per year over opponents with larger enrollment than them in that time period. 7 games under .500 in the last ten years with 9 wins coming against Lynn Camp. BriarCreekBrave fix the Colonels nad then worry about little Williamsburg.
Yeah Harlan has beaten Whitley 189-83 in the last 4 games. Love your post losers need to become winners before they become critics. Wait until your coach has winning record before you talk smack, and please change the boulevard of champions to Loserville before someone gets in trouble for false advertisment.

Telling us stuff we already know doesnt get you closer to a state championship. Do you think i dont know that? Have i ever stated we'd win a state title? Have i ever praised this coaching staffs ability? NO
Before you publish false advertisment you should realize that not once have i ever talked about Whitley in such high praise. Ive never once agreed with the hire, or anything that goes on there in todays world. The only thing i like is the tough schedule, the option offense, and the kids.
Give me a break. I can talk smack all i want. Its a freaking message board, and when it comes to the little fellas across town, ive never been wrong. You can win all the districts you want, but when you fail to even win a region, somethings wrong.

I do get what some on here are saying that scrimmaging weak opponents doesn't give a team a real test. Mayfield lately has always scrimmaged TN 3a power Milan. Before that it was 3a hopkinsville and before they were put on our regular schedule 6a Marshall County . Point is scrimmages should at least challenge u a litttle. No Challenges equal running clocks in Dec. Fairview played nobody and felt like their running game wouldn't be stopped never worked on a passing game and were one dimentional in the state finals. Going to say if Fairview had played somebody who tested them and showed them their running game could be stopped then maybe they put in some wrinkles in to open up the offense and force defenders out of the box.
Pretty much sums up Eastern Kentucky Football right there! We do have a few teams from time to time who will pass some, but all in all most of the coaches just think run, run, run. Don't get me wrong because to me nothing in this game is more beutiful then when the oline does its thing and a TB takes it to the house, but we have way to many teams who are one dimensioal. A lot of people try to say that we just don't have the right players in the east to be good at the pass, but I promise you that we do it's just that all coaches and fans in this area think about form youth league on up is the run game. We have had a lot of players from this area who IMO would be good receivers or qb's, but they were put in the wrong position or they just never had anyone work with em. People spend so much time running and stoping the run and put very little time into passing and stoping the pass that when they get against a team from out west or up north who can do both well then we have no answer for it. I believe that teams like Highlands, Mayfield, Lexington Cath, and Bowling Green work hard with the kids on passing and receiving fundamentals from youth league on up and if teams from the east would do that I believe we would see more state champs from this area. I believe with all my heart that Eastern Kentucky has had some teams who lost some state championships or never even made it to the big game that were just as talented and well coached as the teams who did make it but we will never know because they could not pass or stop the pass. Sorry for the little rant and I know this was off topic but this is how i feel. This is something that's been bothering me for years with Eastern Kentucky football. Some of you may disagree with me and that is fine but it is awful funny that even some of the teams who beat us are like hey great team but your one dimensioal on both sides of the ball and that is why you could not play with us.

The reason Wburg has been so successful over the last decade against other 1A teams in this area is because they pass. Teams in there district and region (except for Hazard and Pikeville a few years) didnt know how to contain that.

^Exactly!^
Look at our last state champ from this area. Hazard could pass just as good as run and they could do both well. I believe that Belfry had all they keys to beat Central the last 2 years except for one and that is a good solid pass game and the final score of those games were both very close. Even in my own town the Best team Lawrence County has ever had IMO and the closest we ever came to a championship was the year we had the most balance probably in our history. We had Jason Michael at QB and Gerad Parker at receiver and Nick Meadows at TB. Gerad Parker was probably one of if not the best receivers Eastern Kentucky has ever seen as far as numbers go and I think he still holds some receiving records from this area. I don't want to give up on the run all together because I love a nice run game, but I would love to see Eastern Kentucky focus just a little more on the pass. I don't know if the problem is that we just don't have the people to teach it or we just don't take the time, but I don't believe for a second that we don't have the right kind of athletes to pull it off.
