Williamsburg fans won't be happy. I really thought Raceland would have been ranked higher.

I was very surprised to Williamsburg not ranked.

Only the BGR rankings are accurate

Mayfield Beechwood Frankfort Fairview Pikeville Hazard Williamsburg Raceland KY Country Day Russellville. I am a huge Raceland fan but I am also a realist and the fact if the matter is they have yet to prove that they can live up to their hype every year and until they do they do not deserve a high ranking in my opinion. For the past several years Pikeville and Fairview have owned them in the region and playoffs and until they beat these teams when it matters most I will not be sold on them no matter how talented and experienced they look on paper.

Bellevue is a top 5 to 10 team they have a very good running back. Hope Beechwood can beat Mayfield this year.

I'm good with this, Raceland doesn't deserve to be any higher, until they prove something.
08-16-2013, 09:13 PM
Until Wburg can make it past the 3rd round they shouldn't have a chip on their shoulders. That should just make them fight to prove themselves. I think they will come into the top 10 soon, but they should just let it burn for now. The team that is I think getting too much praise here is Bwood. They will have a soph qb and a lot of sophs starting. Look at what happened with Mfield with a soph qb just 2 yrs ago. All of this stuff will work itself out. No one should ever be upset about the preseason polls. All that matters here is where you are at the end.

I agree with the Ram fans on here. As i have stated many times. Timl they can get over the hump snd beat pikeville or fairview then they r rt where they should be. Williamsburg is in the same boat. Gotta get the Bulldog monkey off their back. Both teams need to step up physicality and toughness. Talent, experience, and depth, has tended to fall apart when smacked in the mouth in Raceland. If the 2006 and 2008 teams would been in THIS alignment instead of facing NewCath and LCA in Regional championships, Raceland would probably have 2 state championships at this point. In both games, they got outcoached and out manned. The rest of the region and region semi losses have came from a lack of fire and physicality from the rams. Shut up and hit somebody! This could be the most tallented Ram team in school history. But tallent and expectations get u beat if u dont have the Physicslity to put it into action.

I do think Williamsburg should be in this poll. They have a qb who will one day probably get his college tuition paid for somewhere hope we both reach the finals the trash talk here will be epic!

No way W'burg is not TOP 10 team in 1A. Prob are a Top 5 Team.
08-17-2013, 08:21 AM
Honestly think the so called writers from USA Today are throwing darts to get these rankings.
08-17-2013, 08:53 AM
I think wburg will come into the top 10 after 1 or 2 games. They cant complain though and shouldn't complain. I personally think this is a moot point. If I were to make a top 10, I would probably put them around 6 or 7 right now, but really does it matter when they will play their way in in 2 weeks or so.
08-17-2013, 09:12 AM
Looks good, I figured Raceland would have been a little higher in the beginning.

I believe that this was a coaches poll run by the C-J.

I know this is just the polls. The thing that scares me more than anything right now though is this. The state championship in 1a for the past 5 years has been won by the team that was listed as home on the scoreboard. The east rep will be listed as home this year.

Well I sure hope its a team from the far west wearing red & black with a bird for a mascot.

Raceland has state championship potential, time will tell if this team can get over the hump..
08-17-2013, 02:45 PM
Honestly the 2006 an 2008 Ranceland teams should have won state in the alignment they were in but they couldn't finish the job. The story of Raceland has always been "should have been". It is frustrating to watch those talented teams live beneath their potential. Now with an easier playoff alignment where they are not in the Northern Kentucky region (where in my opinion Raceland and Fairview both would never make it past the second round) they should make a deep run every year but they are always their own worst enemy.

There's no way Williamsburg isn't a top 10 team. They made it to the final eight last year and have almost all their skilled guys back.
Not to get anything started with the Pikeville fans again, but I can't see Pikeville being ahead of them.

lol, not to start anything. You singled Pikeville out. Is Pikeville the only team in the top 10 you can't see being ahead of Williamsburg? btw, Pikeville also made the final 8, and has all their skilled guys back.
08-17-2013, 05:44 PM
I think they are looking at it this way. Wburg made it to the final 8 because they were in the east. Once again they got shut out by a team that got killed the next week by Fairview. Then Fairview got killed the next week. That showed the east was down last year. The other teams from the east that are ahead of them are Hazard, who beat Wburg. Then Raceland who gave Fairview a better game than did Hazard, who once again beat Wburg. Then Pikeville who beat Raceland to make their statement. Just because Wburg made it to third round don't mean they were the 8th best team. Ky Country Day, Russellville and Bellevue would have done very well on that side. Beechwood would have won that side.
08-17-2013, 05:47 PM
I forgot Frankfort. They would have done well on that side as well.
08-17-2013, 05:49 PM
I didn't see Holy Cross, Country Day or Raceland, but I did see Pikeville and Williamsburg.
Williamsburg is a top 10 team. Maybe top five. I think we'll see that soon enough.

It is obvious they are doing this off last years results. I would say last year should have finished like this in order; Mayfield, Beechwood, Ky Country Day, Fairview, Frankfort, Russellville, Pikeville, Hazard, Raceland, Wburg
08-17-2013, 05:59 PM
That being said they have Wburg one spot lower than they finished.

Oh I forgot you still rank them based on Week 0 of 2012. My bad.
hehe just messin with you...

This really is a moot point. I whole heartedly believe that Wburg will play their way into the top ten in two weeks or less.
