Good report. Their old one was one of the 5 worst that I saw in the last 30 years anywhere in the state.

Their program is headed in the right direction. They deserved a good field to play on. This can only help the program continue to improve. There is plenty of talent in Perry County.

Where is the new field located at? Will it be ready for this fall?

Anyone got pics?

I think these new turf fields are awesome. The kids love playing on them and I think they are probably safer.
My concern is in 10ish years when the turf needs to be replaced where will the $400,000-500,000 come from?
I know this is something Harlan, Perry and Letcher counties will have to deal with.

I thought it had hit a snag?
Hadnt heard much, but it looks great!
It seems a lot of the high schools are going toward the same design.
Personally, im partial to grass. Always got hung up on turf because of improper cleats and we obviously wasnt getting cleats for only games with turf, but either way, it seems all teams are switching to turf, atleast those that can afford it.
Im with fever though, what happens when the turf needs replaced and there just no money in the budget? I would think the refs wont allow a game to be played on a field that has issues on it where injuries are possible. Turf was in the the talks at Whitley when the new stadium was being discussed, but it went away with the idea of the stadium as well. I like the way we have it anyways, wouldnt want to see it changed, maybe just updated.
However, glad to see PCC get the new field. Pothole Gardens was a mess. Should be fun to see the new field. Where is it located in proximity to the school?

I don't know how familiar you are with Hazard but, by looking at the surroundings in the picture, I believe it is on HWY 80 just past Wal-Mart on the right hand side of the road.

Jumbotron was the plan....
but it didn't happen at the last minute.
They went and pulled down the scoreboard from the old field just yesterday I believe.

PCC players and fans deserved a nice field and looks like they have one to be proud of.

The field is behind East Perry elementary on 80 just past wal-mart. The scoreboard and play clocks at the old field were installed in 2010 and will be moved to the new field. Seating capacity is in the 4000-4500 range I believe. Very excited to see this season, it will be weird not playing in APG any more but we definitely needed this upgrade.

That field DOES look nice. I still sort of like the grass better, but the field looks nice and it makes it easy for games late in the season when the grass is dead or when it is wet. Last time we were up there at PCC, they played after an all day rain and it rained off and on all evening during the game. My avatar is from your Airport Gardens and was a picture that the local newspaper took of some of our kids that I requested. It was a muddy game that night.

No word on an official name yet. I suppose it will be named Commodore field until they make a decision on it.

I love fields where you sit on the same side. It is great to be able to talk to fans of the other team. I have had great conversations with people over the years.
