Rowan County 2013
#1
Predictions?
#2
The loss of Graham to basketball and baseball will be a big. The program as a whole is playing 3rd fiddle right now behind basketball and baseball for sure, and even possibly soccer.
#3
Estill beat them in the 7 on 7 at EKU today
#4
The loss of Graham is huge! He was a special talent. Who will be Qb with him gone?

I have a feeling that it's going to be a long season for the Vikings after looking at their schedule. I haven't really heard how good they're supposed to be this year but, after looking at the schedule I'm saying they win 4 games at most this year.

I only see 3 possible wins: Greenup, Fleming, and maybe Montgomery since it is a home game. And those are only possibles. Ashland, JC, Mason could all be brutal.

Yeah, three wins seems more ideal for them this season. Greenup and Fleming are the two obvious ones. I don't see them beating Montgomery. I see them getting there 3rd win against Lawrence Co or Boyd Co.

Devin Helvey will most likely be the QB this year. He can read the option better than graham could. I wouldn't over look this team. If the leadership is there this team could do big things.

Reading the option is one thing, but Graham is going to play a sport at the next level. Those kind of smart, multi-talented athletes are not growing on trees unless your are in Ft. Thomas or Louisville.

And so I'll ask you how Fleming, Greenup, and Boyd are even going to compete with Rowan?

I wouldn't worry about anyone "competing with Rowan". I would just focus on Rowan for now. I am sure all the teams mentioned are working to get ready for the season.
#16
Rowan County has an experienced o-line with Gilliam, Perry, and Hanshaw. In the backfield Moore and Lambert aren't the fastest but they're smart and Moore is pretty strong and agile for his size. Wide outs Isaac Lee and Zack Taylor are both about 4.5 speed and have good experience and skill. QB is the only serious problem for Rowan at the moment. Defensively Garrett Martin is a head hunter up front. Alston Buttry is a tremendous athlete playing safety. Isaac Lee will probably ironman and play Safety as well. Overall they have the personnel to be successful.

GRC: Rowan wins by 2 touchdowns
Lawrence County: Rowan wins by 1 touchdown
Mason County: Rowan wins by 1 touchdown or less

Ashland Blazer: Rowan loses by 2 touchdowns
Greenup County: Rowan wins by 3 touchdowns
Boyd County: Rowan wins by 2 touchdowns

RC Vikings, who is your scrimmage against in 2 weeks?

You must have made some changes on defense if you are predicting a 7-3 season. Who is the defensive coordinator at Rowan County now?
#19
If Rowan County is going to manage to pull off something as far fetched as a 7-3 record, they better get that QB problem fixed real quick.

It sounds as if you are well on your way to having a good season in 2013.

How will your defense be better this year than in 2012?
#21
Kelly Ford is the DC. The defense is gonna struggle especially against Mason, Ashland, and JC but the secondary is experienced and the D-line is as solid as any. The LB's will make or break the defense. Remember these are only predictions, and any team can go 10-0 or 0-10. 7-3 is very modest but this is a team of 17 seniors and 7 of them are 3 year starters. As for the offense they are capable of ripping the option which they did at times last year even against Ashland when they lost 48-0. Just not consistently. This year it'll be there on offense. I myself question the defense.

Bourbon is the scrimmage. That will be an excellent test for the defense as Bourbon is arguably the best team in 3A
#23
There is no information listed concerning Rowan County's scrimmage.

Could somebody please post the date, time, location, and opponent for Rowan County's scrimmage game?

Thanks.
#24
Those that think Rowan will blow past Boyd need to recall last year's game...yes, Rowan won (28-25), but that was with Boyd playing a backup QB and their sophomore, D-1 prospect kicker missing 3 chip shot field goals.....not happening this year.

what is the date, time, location

Rowan and boyd will fight it out for 4th place

Very understandable. That is honestly a more realistic prediction. Except GRC. What are they gonna have to win by 4 td's?

Didn't Rowan County lose to a winless GRC team by 18 points in 2012 by a score of 44-26? It was GRC's only win of the season.

I understand that Rowan is scrimmaging Bourbon County.

What is the date, time, and location of this scrimmage?
