Caldwell County Tigers Preview 2013
The big question for the Tigers this season is, how long do we have to wait until they give us that bigger trophy in gold that says State Champions. The answer will come about 15 weeks after the start of the season. This team is really and I mean really loaded again this year. This team returns almost everything except their starting rb in Martez Sivils. They should be favored to win class 2a this year.
The Tigers will have the benefit of having almost every starting player on offense and defense from last seasons state runner up team back. If memory serves me correctly they will only have to replace 2-3 players on each. Add on to that, this offense ranked 5th in scoring in 2a last season and 4th in scoring margin and you have to feel really good about their chances. I will say they will hoist the big trophy this year unless they get an extreme case of overconfidence or have some critical injuries.
The Tigers were 2nd in scoring in 2012 and have all that talent back. I just canât get over that. The problem is they gave up about 21 points per game on defense. That could be partially due to being young last year or it could be just because they score so quick that the other teams get more opportunities to score.
The Tigers open the season by hosting 5a Christian Co. Christian Co was second in their district last year and made it to the second round of the playoffs. They then host 2a non- district opponent Union Co. The Braves finished last season with a disappointing 5-6 record. They lost in a fairly close game to Murray at Murray in the 1st round of the playoffs. They then travel to Ohio Co. The Eagles were a disappointing 3-7 last season. They then travel to Trigg Co to play the 3a Wildcats. The Wildcats finished the season at 5-6 and appeared to be improving in the late season. They then host Fort Campbell. Fort Campbell finished in the season at 9-3. They also return a lot of talent. They then host district opponent Ballard Memorial. The Bombers finished 2012 with a record of 7-4 and appear to be on an upswing. They then travel to Green Co. The 2a Dragons finished at 6-5 last season. They then host their district rivals, Murray Tigers. The Tigers were bounced from the playoffs in a 3 point loss to Caldwell in Princeton in 2012. They then travel to Marion to take on the 2a Crittendon Co Rockets. The Rockets are a well coached team that appeared to be very young and finished 3-8 in 2012. They then host last seasons 1a state champions, Mayfield Cardinals. The Cards finished 14-1 last seaon and should be one of the favored teams for a repeat in 1a this year.
This schedule certainly leaves some room for improvement, but should give the Tigers a variety of deferent offensive styles to face this year. This could help them to prepare for a great run at the state championship.
Players to watch:
Elijah Sindelar/ qb This kid is awesome. He has great height, speed and a great arm. I have personally
Witnessed him throw a 70 yarder on a dime in War Memorial in 2012. He has led
This team for the past 2 years. He was 4th in the state in 2a last year throwing for
Over 2,000 yards, 24 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. I really think we could
Be watching this kid on Sundays in the future.
Jaylen Boyd/ wr This kid is a blaze. He was 6th in receiving stats in 2012 in 2a. He hauled in passes
For over 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. I expect he will have an even
Bigger role this year due to graduation of their star rb of 2012.
This team is my pick for the best in the state for 2013 in 2a. I really think this year will really get Sindelar the attention he needs to get some big time college scouts attention as well.

Those stats for Boyd are his rushing stats, He is our running back, 55. Dee Cain will be the best WR for the Tigers this year. Good report!

Sorry Caldwell fans, too many stats running through my mind yesterday. Dream Killer is very correct. I saw Boyd stats as rushing. That actually bodes better for them, but worse for my article. You can replace a stud receiver easier than a rb. They will simply spread the passing with their GREAT qb. They will still be my favorites.

 Still a great article!

I may eat crow for this...but I am not sure another 2A team will defeat Caldwell as long as Sindelair is playing.Truly special talent and an absolute pleasure to watch.

Dream, You also wrote a preview on the Tigers unless I am mistaken. How does yours and #55's compare?

The faithful were there in numbers

The Tigers taking the field!

Sindelar was the most enjoyable player to watch in any game I saw last season. I hope to see him at least a couple more times before he graduates.

I had the privilege of hanging out with the Tigers on their sidelines and even snapped the occasional picture that I thought Dream might enjoy

Panther thank you. I think I have been speaking to a crowd that just didn't want to listen until you found that clip. The kid is awesome. Look at those darts he threw in that film between and just over the reach of defenders on some high caliber teams none the less. You really have to work hard to lose a game when you got a gun slinger like that at the helm.

By the way, for all those who still doubt, you will enjoy hearing this. I have the pleasure of hanging around some really good football people at times. I was around some recently that shared some info with me. They informed me that Trinity (the U), there in Louisville, was wanting Mr Sindilar to come there this year. You know if they are after him, I may just be on to something here.

Trinity was after Elijah, but he told me himself, that he is staying at Caldwell County until graduation. He said that his friends are here, his girlfriend is here, and that the Lord wanted him here, and that is good enough for me.
Great pics, MC! Thanks, I do enjoy them very much. Our crowd was just about as big at Fairdale, the week before for the DeSales game.
One personnel update for the Tigers. We have got a transfer student that just moved in. He is a Sophomore RB/DB, that I hve been told, make Jaylen Boyd and Elijah Sindelar look slow. I will let you guys know his name as soon as I can make sure of things.

Thanks for the update killer. I haven't seen too many backs recently that could make them two look slow. I really expect you guys to be one of the toughest games on our schedule this year.

As someone who was really close to the program last year and unfortunately I had move away from Princeton, I would like to hear more updates about the team. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time last year around such a talented team, and an even better group of guys. The run to the state finals was exhilarating. I would like to add that Jaylen Boyd actually crosse the 2000 yard mark last year for rushing. Had somewhere around 286 yards in the state semi finals against deSales. Broke a majority of Fuqua's rushing records.

If I heard correctly the player's name is JaMichael Ellis and he is a Sophomore RB/DB that is comong in from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins High. He is said to faster than both Boyd and Sindelar, and bigger than Jaylen Boyd. If this is true, it should be a big shot in the arm for an already fast and strong team.

Just looked up that schools roster. They have more players on their team than most colleges.

Btw I am looking forward to more updates from the Caldwell area. I was fortunate enough to be really close with last years team and was at every game. Once I got to Princeton I had no idea how good this team was, and the run through the playoffs was exhilarating. Unfortunately I moved away from Princeton and won't be able to make it to a lot of games. The newspaper has a great sports editor who has great articles each week about the team. One more thing, Jaylen Boyd had over 2000 yards rushing as a sophomore last year, including a 280+ performance against Desales last year in the state semi finals. Kid was said by west ky coaches to be the fastest player in west ky. If this new guy is faster than him, oh my!
