Could Breathitt possibly finish 3rd in 3A Dist.7?
#1
From all I have heard and read they still officially do not have a head coach. Losing Holcomb will be huge! Trent gone, their best players on defense gone in Fugate and Shouse. Playmakers Cox and Blomberg gone. Could this be the year Morgan and/or Magoffin beats Breathitt? Both Morgan and Magoffin return almost their entire teams.

I think Morgan has the best shot at Breathitt. Magoffin possibly. Should be an interesting year to see how the Bobcats do without Holcomb
#3
I would think they would finish 1st or 2nd. Morgan from what I am hearing can beat Breathitt this year unlike past seasons. The kids and remaining coaches have pride and a deep seeded work ethic and I do not look for them to be a "Bad" team. It would take a "bad" team to finish 3rd in 3A district 7.

I look for Breathitt to be 2-3 touchdowns better than anyone else in that District.

Breathitt will be on top. Mark it down.

Breathitt has tradition and that will win you games. Breathitt only beat Morgan by 2td's last year and Trent accounted for the 2 late. Who will be Breathitt's scoring threats?
Morgan returns district player of the year Kody Thornsberry and 1st team All stater Jt Brown and all state HM defensive end Jared Short. Morgan starters lost were Crase, Whitt and Conley. Morgan legitimately returns 8 starters. Magoffin will be much better. They only lost like 4 seniors. Elam for Magoffin is legit. The only big play threat Breathitt has is Noble. This year Morgan and Magoffin may have more talent. Why on earth has Breathitt not hired a coach and it's July? Just looks like football is no longer is a priority.

As weak as that District is it would literally take Breathitt being historically bad to finish 3rd. Losing to Morgan County could happen..upsets do happen from time to time... but losing to Morgan and Magoffin would take a nose dive the likes we have not seen before.

Breathitt named a replace for Halcomb?

I don't think there is a chance that they finish 3rd. I have some friends in Morgan and they say they have a lot of speed, but other than JT Brown they have very little size. The kid that was supposed to be their qb quit. He tore his acl last year and tweaked it running track this year. Breathitt won't be as down as everybody thinks.

You are correct, that young man is no longer with the team. The best qb in the school came back out and recommitted to the team in Mikey Whisman. Mikey is a great athlete and also starts guard on the basketball team. He lead this same group that is seniors to a 13-2 record in middle school and lost to Somerset in the state finals.

Morgan also returns Kody Thornsberry. The running back who had 100+ rush yards that talented Breathitt defense. Morgan has the best shot at beating Breathitt. Should be a very exciting game, maybe more exciting than last year
#12
Kyle Moore has officially been given the job, about two weeks ago...
#13
It will definitely be a transition year for Breathitt County but I still think they finish no worse than second in that district and I really expect them to win it.
#14
Cool. I would like to see John Chapman come back with a bunch of former players. Kyle Moore as OC...Brad Allen as line...Justin Lamb WR coach. And let Chapman run the D. Now that would be cool.

Concur. I don't see neither of these teams beating Breathitt.
#16
Breathitt will be better than most think. They have the majority of the o-line back with Noble and 4 real good young running backs look for Jordan Turner a Junior to have good year at 195lbs and runs a 4.7 along with a 200 lb Jeff Little 4.8 speed and two sophomore's also with one that has been clocked at 4.62 Breathitt will be fine we also have 6 starters returning on defense it will come down between Morgan and Breathitt with the game at Breathitt.

Breathitt is breathitt great football town.and fans
#18
They are going to be 1st in Dist.7
#19
Breathitt will be fine. I look for the bobcats to win district once again, but the road will be a little tougher than usual. Morgan and Magoffin are improved, but until they play and beat someone noteworthy, I can't see them being favored to beat the bobcats. I heard the bobcats looked good during spring practice, and Coach Moore has gotten some athletes who haven't played before to come out. Good luck bobcats!!!!

Anyone know about the QB competition between Grigsby & White?
#21
Both are taking equal snaps. White has a real strong arm,Grigsby appears to read defense better and has better legs..They may use both early on.....don't think a decision will be made until the scrimmages....I think they may start White, but the Grigsby kid may win out in the end..Both are good kids..It's hard to read coach Moore...They will need both kids

Thanks bearcat88. I don't know the White kid, but I know Grigsby has been well groomed for the position. Good luck this year.

I don't know for sure, but I have heard they will be coming to Prestonsburg for a Gridorama type scrimmage.

Letcher is the game I think everyone is wanting to see.

I think the Bourbon County game will be more interesting. But I do recognize the story line with the LCC game.

Bourbon returns just about everyone from last year and will be another dangerous team....I don't think this year's Bobcats can stop this year's Bourbon..but the game is being played at Breathitt and anything can happen...Hopefully it's a good game either way it goes......If those two would have met last year that would have been an outstanding game.

From what I have seen of the Breathitt teams in the past several years they play better on the road than they do @ home. This game will be interesting because it will be the first real test for the new coaching staff. I will be watching the preparation and the mindset the Bobcats come out with.
