Collins 2013
#1
The Titans are coming off of their first state championship appearance in 2012 and with basically the whole team returning, expectations are very high for the 2013 season.

Not all of the dates have been released, but these are the teams that will be on the 2013 schedule:

Anderson County, Atherton*, Ballard, Central Hardin, North Oldham*, Shelby County, Simon Kenton, South Oldham, Spencer County*, Waggener *
(* District)

Key players returning on offense:

QB Lawson Page: 197 completions, 372 attempts, 9 interceptions, 2931 yards passing, 36 TDs, 721 yards rushing, 5 TDs

RB/WR DeAndre Farris: 997 yards rushing, 138 attempts, 17 rushing TDs, 1039 yards receiving, 68 receptions, 13 TD receptions, 1 punt return for a TD, 2036 total yards, 31 TDs

WR Nathan Sames: 994 yards, 62 receptions, 16 TDs

WR Landon Forrest: 531 yards, 37 receptions, 2 TDs, 11 yards rushing, 1 attempt

WR/RB Masai Whyte: 332 yards rushing, 65 attempts, 10 rushing TDs, 116 yards receiving, 9 receptions (Missed 2 games with injury)

WR Jordan Parker: 112 yards receiving, 7 receptions, 1 TD

RB Antuan "Bushy" Wells: 144 yards, 14 attempts, 1 TD (missed last 6 games due to injury)

Key players returning on defense:

Masai Whyte: 180 tackles, 13 games (13.8 per game) , 2 fumble recoveries, 1 INT

Nathan Sames: 106 tackles, 15 games (7.1 per game), 2 fumble recoveries, 4 INTs

Landon Forrest: 90 tackles, 15 games (6 per game), 4 fumble recoveries, 1 INT

Zach "Buck" Wilson: 88 tackles, 15 games (5.9 per game), 1 fumble recovery

Mark Bradford: 70 tackles, 14 games (5 per game)

Elijah Jones: 65 tackles, 15 games (4.3 per game), 5 INTs

Antuan "Bushy" Wells: 52 tackles, 9 games (5.8 per game), 1 fumble recovery

Isaiah Jones: 53 tackles, 15 games (3.5 per game), 2 INTs

Collins is also adding two transfers that I know of. Jonah Shacklette from Meade County and Ryan Watkins from Eastern. Last year at Eastern Ryan rushed for 726 yards on 136 attempts and had 2 TDs and caught 9 passes for 64 yards.

There is a lot of excitement around Shelbyville for this upcoming season, and it looks like it will be one to remember. Collins has made it a step further each season: 1st year, regional finals; 2nd year, state semifinals, 3rd year, state runner-up. Could they take one final step to a state championship this year? It will be very tough to beat Highlands, but nothing is impossible. August 23rd can't come soon enough!

Collins could become scary good very quickly. They're returning nearly everything from last year. Crazy
#3
They will lose their season opener.
#4
I forgot to add Collins also returns their kicker, Blanton Creque, who is ranked one of the top kickers in the nation in the class of 2015.
#5
All those skilled players what about their line? They wasn't very big on the line last year.

They return almost their entire line from last season. There were a few freshman that got some playing time towards the end of the season last year so the future is bright as far as the line goes. Collins won't be huge but will be strong and fast on the line and have plenty of experience. Another year in the weight room should definitely pay off. One key player on the defensive line comes to mind, Mark Bradford. He's about 5'11 and 330 and a beast up the middle. Buck Wilson also seemed to be in the opposing team's backfield quite a bit last season.

So not only will Collins have a lot of skill players, but a good offensive and defensive line as well.

Their one weakness last season was their defense. They gave up quite a few yards, especially on the ground. However, with Tom Becherer as defensive coordinator, I would say the defense will be much improved this season. Tom won a state championship as head coach at Shelby County back in the 80's.

Will Collins be playing in the Oldham County 7 on 7 tournament in July?
#8
Collins has good shot at returning to championship game because of being in weak western side of bracket. If on other side of bracket, they would be lucky to get past second round. Look for another blow out if they advance to finals.

I'm not sure if they will be or not. They could be considering Oldham County is close by.

You're right, the east side is definitely much stronger than the west in 4A.

I don't see Collins losing to any of these teams this year. Lexington Catholic or Highlands will have to knock them out in the finals.

Collins plays to many kids both ways to hang with the big boys of SK!

I simply asked who Collins scrimmage game was with. No "crap" talking here, I have too much respect for both teams. In the future see who the poster is before you respond.

I agree that an undefeated regular season is very possible. I see one loss at the most.

I know I'm not Tommy but I don't think he was referring to you.

I'm not talking crap. SK has to much depth for Collins to keep up with them and that is the truth.

Collins will have a lot more depth this year than last year. I don't see depth being a problem for them.

I do not see depth being a problem either, but lack of quality athletes will be. They are a good team against poor schedule, but do not have the horses to play a quality team.

Timeout!!! Sorry hop, not all that answer was for you. Some of that was toward some of your counter parts.

No biggie, just don't want to be misunderstood. Looking forward to the game.
#26
I also am looking forward to the game.
I see someone mentioned non Quality athletes....Well if there is one thing Collins has going for them is Athletes.
Weak Schedule? I think I see some pretty good games on that schedule.
#27
Can someone post Collins roster? SK will be their toughest game and help get them ready for a rematch with Highlands.

What games do you consider pretty good except for the SK game?

sstack Wrote:What games do you consider pretty good except for the SK game?

Ballard should be pretty good this year as well as Anderson County.

blue1424 Wrote:Ballard should be pretty good this year as well as Anderson County.

Both those teams had weak schedules last year and had several "big" blow out loses when they played better teams. I do not think those two will be much of a game for Collins.
