Shaka Smart is staying at VCU, spurning overtures from UCLA and Minnesota as the top target for both schools.
Smart will remain at VCU, he told ESPN.com in a text message Wednesday. VCU later issued a formal release announcing changes in Smart's contract are being finalized.
A source confirmed to ESPN.com that Smart will sign an extension to stay with the Rams through 2023. SI.com earlier reported news of the extension.

2023... That's pushing it.. I think it's good for him to stay a few more years at VCU, he's still young and he'll get his chance later, staying where he's the king right now.

Would you leave a school you have done so good at the past few years like him? While I agree turning down UCLA is pretty crazy, why leave. He owns the town.
