Okay, I know what you're thinking... uhh... what?

I have to thank my roommate for enlightening me to this wonderful piece of politics. Of course when she ran in to inform me that, yes, this indeed a legit petition, posted on the WHITEHOUSE.GOV's website.... naturally she had to add a little "toot, toot" (with her hand held patriotically over her heart).

The fact I find stunning... is that the petition already has 2,555 signatures! But it's safe to say it's a long way from really garnering Washington's attention, with only 0.02% of it's goal. That being said, in the time it has taken me to write this, that number has gone up to 2,601. So it seems like word is spreading...

So what is this petition really asking? Well why don't you read for yourself:

We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognize the need for a new national anthem, one that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out the kitchen. America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814. Since then, we have realized that after the show, it's the afterparty, and that after the party, it's the hotel lobby, and--perhaps most importantly--that 'round about four, you've got to clear the lobby, at which point it's strongly recommended that you take it to the room and freak somebody. President Obama: we ask you to recognize the evolution of this beautiful country and give us an anthem that better suits the glorious nation we have become.

Confession, this song came out in 2003 and I can still sing almost every word... does that make it a classic for our generation? You bet! Patriotic? Well... that's still up for debate. But if you're on board, you can add your name to the growing list, just follow the link below:

I'm just saying that's why I'm not an admin no more. Their really isn't any differences between Mods and Admins. Besides QQ and Midee (who never get on anymore) Dusty is the only one that can basically run this site so just to save the hassel, I just asked Dusty to put back as a Mod
