Anyone know anything about this?
Just heard the guys on the radio station out of Ashland doing the Sweet 16, talking about this. I have heard Rose Hill might be dropping out of Khsaa sports so it will make room for 1 of them if so.
Also would make the 57th district have 4 teams again.
This would make the 16th Region BRUTAL!!!

Don't know anything about it but I heard them talking about as well. It was Dickey Martin(Ashland radio announcer b97.1 fm helping with the state tournament) also Tim Carper west/east carter 102.3 fm announcer and of course Jim Forest who does Russell games normally and works for wlgc 105.7 and started the schoolboy radio network

Yes that is the station. Would they know this info to be true or speculation? I can see Lawrence wanting back in the 16th. Just because of the tradition. Montgomery I dont know why?

Yeah they said I think there was to be meeting tomorrow to see about the realignment of the 16th region. I would say it's true

Wow! Please post any new info that comes from the meeting.

Here is what the local rumor mill has...Fleming Co. wants back in the 10th Region and Montgomery Co. wants in the 16th. MoCo feels they can dominate as they will be the largest school in the region instantly. (5A) With the exception of this season, they have to go thru GRC, Mason Co, or travel to Northen KY for the regional tourney in the 10th. I for one hope told to stay in the 10th.

because montgomery will dominate the 16th. if they were in the 16th over the last 18 years, they would have far more than a 1995 & 2013 regional chamionship banners hanging

As long as the nonsense about Lawrence joining the 59th is over, I could care less.

Realignment needs to be looked at across the board with KHSAA. Too many schools don't fit where they are.

Don't see what needs to be fixed in the 16th. The 15th needs fixed. 2 districts with 5 teams and 2 districts with 3 teams? Move 2 teams and balance it out. Sorry that it is not how it used to be but things change.

I don't know about Montgomery County dominating the 16th over the last few years, because Rowan County was pretty good and before that Ellitt County was pretty good.

Not sure why Lawrence Co. would want to leave the 15th. They were very successful in the region this year with a very, very young team. If they want a trip to Rupp anytime soon they should stay in the 15th and I'd predict back to back trips in 2015 - 2016.

News this morning from reliable sources is that Lawrence Co. is replacing Rose Hill in the 16th Region starting next year! Rose Hill will not be participating in KHSAA sanctioned events and the opening would allow Lawrence to move into the 16th without any problems. No word yet on the Montgomery Co. move?
The 15th region will be loosing a "major" player in both Basketball and Baseball. Lawrence Co. is LOADED in basketball, and could have made a run at a 15th region title. (Still may in the 16th) Baseball wise, they are inexperienced but very capable of making a run also at a region title. By next baseball season they will be a contender!
The move would help the 15th Region with the district alignments. The 57th district would have 4 teams again. Leaving only the 58th with 5 teams!
Will have too waith and see what the KHSAA approves?

What distric will they be in? And will they realign any districts because of the addition?
03-07-2013, 04:58 PM
The other rumor going around was that Lawrence would be going into the 62nd with the Carter County schools and Elliott County.

If they replace Rose Hill they would be in the 64th district with Boyd Co. Ashland and Fairview. If tgey re district who knows?

In the late 90's & early 2000 decade montgomery would have walked through the region.

^ No

If they go into 62nd with carter counties and Elliot will Morgan stay in the district or be moved...
03-07-2013, 08:53 PM
If Lawrence returns to the 64th then they take Rose Hill's spot and you have 4-4 team districts. There is no need to realign an evenly aligned region.
MoCo is currently in the 40th district with GRC, Bourbon Co., and Paris. They are a good geographic fit in that district with all teams within a 30 minute drive of each other. The only reason to want to go elsewhere would be to try and gain an advantage with the size of their school. I hope if there is any truth to this rumor that the KHSAA realizes that.

I really hope that the dawgs stay in the 15th and 57th. I hated being in the 16th. I love the schedule that we have now. I don't know who would want to move, we are in a great situation now. Here's hoping that this is just a RUMOR. Go DAWGS!!!!!!!

It's going to be a massive overhaul when all said and done. Don't be surprised to see Montgomery and / or Clark County to the 14th region.

Wow.
That would be something.

I can see Clark and Montgomery going to the 14th. To balance the 15th they will need to move teams from the south side of the 14th over. And with Jackson City combining with Breathitt that leaves a district with 3 teams.

Jackson isn't merging with Breathitt anymore. A coal company was sold that gave Jackson several thousand dollars to re-main open.
If Montgomery and Clark County come to the 14th region then they will walk through it like it's nothing, let them go to the 11th region.

I heard there was a meeting this week about Lawrence moving has any word came from the meeting
03-08-2013, 12:01 AM
Lawrence wont go. Henry Webb will never let change occur. They don't care what is fair, as always, everyone circling wagon today at meeting with KHSAA. More talk will never see action, just simple fact of life. Meeting was simply we will talk about it meeting, trust us we will consider all options. No time line on how long they plan to consider.

I doubt that Clark and Montgomery will be in the 14th region. Clark will go to the 11th and Montgomery will go to the 16th. Letcher and Jenkins to the 15th.
I don't think changes will happen till the 2014-2015 season.
