- Vince McMahon was irate backstage at Mondayâs RAW when CM Punk gave John Cena a piledriver during the main event. The piledriver is a banned move in WWE and the only reason Vince did not take disciplinary action was because it was CM Punk and John Cena performing the move.- Matt Striker interviewed the Prime Time Players, Darren Young and Titus OâNeil, backstage at last nightâs RAW for a WWE.com exclusive video. Young mentioned heâs been away for a while but now heâs back.
- Striker also spoke with Damien Sandow about his tag team match against The Undertaker at Saturday nightâs WWE live event form Waco, Texas. Sandow acted shaken up and said he was still feeling the effects from facing the Dead Man.

I couldn't believe they used a piledriver either.

I miss a good ol' piledriver.
That match last night was one of the best matches in the history of Monday Night Raw.

The big talk backstage at Tuesday nightâs WWE Smackdown tapings is what some of the wrestlers who were at RAW are describing to us as a âtotal shootâ in which Vince McMahon stormed out of the arena at the conclusion of RAW because of the piledriver spot John Cena and CM Punk did in their match last night.
It is being said that at one point, Arn Anderson (who was the producer of the match) was concerned about losing his job. John Cena apparently smoothed things over with Vince, who was already in his limo leaving by the time Cena came back into the Gorilla position after the match.
While the piledriver aired on WWEâs own YouTube channel, it is not known how many were aware of Vinceâs anger over the spot, which we have been told is being described as something that got âlost in the translation.â

Refresh my memory.... why is the piledriver a "banned" move?

^
Probably because of the numerous neck injuries it causes.

Guess I should have asked if there's one specific incident that happened that caused the WWE to ban the piledriver.

And if memory serves me correctly, wasn't the Owen Hart vs. Steve Austin piledriver done in a reverse fashion?
