Perry Co Central's Justin Johnson
#1
If this doesn't deserve its own thread then nothing I've ever seen on BGR deserved one. Justin, we salute you!

Way to bring the funk with that nasty dunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#2
We have a thread on how many dunks he will get in the tourney and this one was posted in there.

So we've already got one on it lol
#3
I know it was a great dunk, but I've seen Quan Taylor (Madison Central) do a 360 in a game twice.

I honestly wasn't overly impressed with the dunk. I think Johnson is a power dunker and I would have rather seen a rim-shaking, two-hand tomahawk.
#5
I think Johnson needs to shatter a backboard. Its about that time in his career. Start Friday night against Cordia. Bring the house down.
#6
I personally find it rather impressive. It's not an easy thing to do. Especially in a real game. But I knew he was more than capable of doing it if he got the chance. He can throw it down just about anyway he wants too.

Wow. Bubba is hating hard this morning. A 16 year old kid had a 360 game dunk in EKY. Heck, it's mighty impressive when an EKY kid dunks in a game, much less a 360.

No, don't get me wrong the fact he can do one is impressive!!! I just love Johnson's thunder dunks. In the video he kinda bobbles the ball and it wasn't dunked hard like I know he can. Still though, to be able to do a 360 is impressive.

Seems to me like you would be more interested in how many wins PC will get in the region and state? I have seen the kid play a couple times and IMO you and him both need to be more concerned about a few fundamentals he's a little weak on than how many dunks he will get. As far as stats go, I would rather be informed about how many assists Beverly has than how many dunks Johnson has! I am strictly an unbiased observer also, all this talk of his dunks is silly in the grand scheme of PC's goals for the season....Just my opinion!

^ It's all in fun. I'm sure that the PCC ball boys have their priorities straight and that is what matters. Things that are said on here doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things either. It's just a fun topic to discuss when you have a kid in the mountains that can throw down the way Johnson can. I would also like to sat that I saw on Twitter yesterday I believe, that an older man (a KCC fan I believe) was harassing Johnson and saying that he walked on the play. Why on earth would a grown man do that? Pick on a teenager? Really? SMH. It clearly wasn't a walk or everyone Powell County fan in the gym would have been upset lol.

Be careful zaga fan may not like all this attention on Justin's dunk cause it is taking away from Beverly

Even though video everyone has clicked on is from my personal youtube account

Step 1 - capture it on video
Step 2 - post it to youtube
Step 3 - I'll create Quan a thread, too.

You guys can argue over how great the dunk was all you want, but all I know is this.

I've been watching KY high school basketball since the late 80s and have seen many great players in EKY, and throughout the state. But thats the first time I've seen a 360 dunk in KY high school basketball in almost 25 years. So yeah, I think its pretty impressive.
#15
He had another dunk in this game that was just as impressive. Only took 1 maybe 2 steps on the baseline. Pulled the rim back toward him, the backboard shook sideways for a minute or two.
#16
I watched this kid at Eden elementary years ago. Its amazing how he progressed as a ball player through the years. His dad was coach then and really never let up since then. Great to see him doing well. Wish he was still in that cardinal jersey. But kids have dreams and its good to see his are coming true.

He still regrets transferring from Sheldon Clark!

I would say he misses his friends and family.

He is no doubt one of the best athletes to come through the mountains. The kid can jump out of the gym.

1.) I didn't start the dunk counting thread
2.) When I said "we" I was inferring that the BGR community already has a thread on this topic
3.) I'm not associated with the team other than the fact that I went to school there and graduated YEARS ago. I'm pretty sure that me counting Johnson's dunks is none of the team's concern and really not your concern either.

4.) ah boys...

That idiot kept tagging me in that post...
I was like...
c'mon now. Let's not blast a high schooler and tag me in it like I've got something to say about it lol

he is 6'6 he should be able to dunk any way he wants

He had NO business even commenting about that to Justin. And yeah I saw where he kept tagging you lol. It was clearly not a walk.

I agree

It is my opinion that Justin should still be dunking balls at Sheldon Clark instead of Perry Central. According to sources, he commutes from there every day with his illustrious coach and his family has not relocated or found employment in this area, all of which should have happened before KHSAA allowed him to be able to play. He is very talented and I hope he sets his goals high and reaches them...but he should be going by the rules, not by the highway like he supposedly is!

Sour grapes much? You LOST, get over it already. I guess Hazard has never had a transfer before, oh wait.
#27
According to sources: Johnson lives in Hardburly and takes a boat down the creek everyday to get to school.
#28
Let me tell you something...it's not that we lost! It's that they are not going by the rules. When we have had kids transfer, they have set out a year and then been approved by KHSAA which is how the rule is written. If you move because of work, you are approved to play. Unfortunately, this didn't happen with Mr. or Mrs. Johnson and their son is still playing at PCC. How do you suppose that Happened? He continues to reside in another county and accompanied his coach from that county to PCC where his coach was employed. Perhaps it was a package deal? I don't know. All I am saying is they need to go by the rules like everyone else does or it needs to be open transfer season for everyone...not just the chosen few. And my grapes are not sour!!
#29
According to sources: Johnson lives in Narnia and the closet that he pops out of to go in between worlds is in Perry Central's gym under the bleachers.

I agree. Very impressive. I have seen 2 in my time watching high school basketball. Tim Couch got one his junior season and Craig Ratliff from Paintsville got one in what I think was his junior season as well. Darn good company to add Johnson to in my book.
