Harlan County "Passing for a Purpose" QB/WR Camp
#1
The 2nd annual "Passing for a Purpose" QB/WR camp will be held this year on Saturday, May 18th from 9 a.m.- 3.p.m. We had a very good turn out last year and look forward to seeing new faces this year. The camp will be held at the state of the art, brand new Coal Miner's Memorial Stadium (which I have attached a picture of) located behind Harlan County High School. The camp donates every cent made to a charity of choice which will be the Ronald McDonald House this year. The camp fee is a very affordable $10 per camper and is open to all campers grade K-12. The camp includes a camp shirt, meal, basic QB/WR skills and techniques, and various guest speakers including Harlan County head coach Tom Larkey, former UK quarterback Freddie Maggard, and others. Coaches working the camp will be current Harlan County staff and also other surrounding area high school and middle school coaches. Camp includes group break downs, route running, basic route combos, QB footwork/drops, one on ones, obstacle courses and so on. We would love to have a rough estimate of campers before the camp gets here for food and shirt ordering purposes. The money can be given the same day as the campers arrive, but anyone interested in coming, please email me privately and send me name, age, and shirt size. Any coaches interested in participating and/or attending, we would love to have you as well. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your time

Tongue firmly in cheek......Why would someone go to a Harlan County QB/WR Camp, I mean they do not throw the ball? Now a rb/lineman camp maybe....

I know for a good cause, I just could not resist. I hope you have a great turn out.

I agree, Larkey hadn't thrown 10 passes in last 10 years.

I get your point, but:

Probably the two best quarterbacks in Harlan County history were there last year. Freddie Maggard and Tim Saylor both signed with UK after all-state careers. Maggard was still listed among the all-time passing leaders at UK the last time I saw the career stats.
Eddie Creech was among the state leaders in passing yardage when he was at Cumberland.

What HDE said!

Coach Creech is a wealth of knowledge at the QB position!

This years recipient of the funds is a place that is personal for Coach Creech as well! And if its personal to him it's personal to Black Bear Nation!!!!

Oh and I couldn't Coach pee wee!

Well, you're correct about one thing. If it's personal for Coach Creech, it's personal to the Black Bear Nation!! There were prayer chains on BGR and FB for that baby for weeks, and folks asking about her progress, etc.

Besides, what classless person makes an (or another) account on BGR and their first post is challenging a charitable benefit??
:please:

If Saylor, Maggard, and Creech are involved...it will be an outstanding camp.

I was at this camp last year. It was unbelievable how organized and the type of drill work the kids went thru. I saw more accomplished at this QB/WR camp than I have in a lot of high profile camps ( and for just $10 )

This camp is just not for Harlan County kids, it is for anybody. This is a great fundamental camp.

Larkey has won a lot of football games not throwing the football. Throwing it well is as important as throwing it a lot. Saylor was a heck of a coach. Creech was a very good quarterback and Maggard is one of the best players to ever come out of the mountains.

All the other QB/WR camps cost around $100 for one day. And you only see the high school coaches there running the drills.
