I've been thinking about this and what if you could combine the best talent of the 13th-15th regions onto one squad? Lets hear your 8 man teams.
PG- McDaniel Clay Co.
SG- Justice Knott Central
SF- Justin Johnson Perry
PF- Shane Hall JC
C- Ray Kasongo Pikeville
PG- Jordan Fox Jackson Co.
SG- Ethan Rowe Pikeville
PF/C- Dalton Cornett Perry
Note: I haven't seen any of the Cordia players play. There are probably 20 players in the mountains that are very good players this 8 I feel would give me a good shot against anyone.

I understand that you are close to Clay County and McDaniel in particular, but he would be the starting point guard on an all-mountain team. Tyler Brewer is better than him right now and he might not start on an all-mountain team.
02-15-2013, 12:55 AM
YNWA - Haha, Brewer is only taller. That's the only thing he has on him. You could've at least said Beverley or Fox. No argument there.
02-15-2013, 12:55 AM
I stated my team... Brewer isn't as good as Fox or McDaniel. The dunk against Montgomery counted for 2 points not a place on my squad. He wouldn't even be considered on my team. I'd rather have Beverly.
02-15-2013, 12:58 AM
I will say there has to be a Cordia kid though.
02-15-2013, 01:00 AM
UKCC- I would consider the big kid that is a rebounding machine and also Owootoah but I can't judge players I've only heard about.
02-15-2013, 01:04 AM
EKY - I agree, only seen highlights here and there.
02-15-2013, 01:07 AM
Brewer is taller, stronger, more athletic, better defensively adn gets to the basket better. McDaniel is a better shooter. Not knocking McDaniel, he may end up being the better of the two, but he is younger right now. He finished with 12 points, but really struggled against HC in the WYMT Classic.
02-15-2013, 01:09 AM
Ah, that's one game and CC played terrible. He averages around 18. Brewer is definitely bigger but 2 years older and that means a lot in high school ball.
02-15-2013, 01:10 AM
That's why Brewer averages about 8 a game. No comparison man. I will agree Brewer is a nice defender.
02-15-2013, 01:12 AM
Very nice defender.
02-15-2013, 02:11 AM
I'm gonna do this as if it's an actual playing team... sorry I can't put just 8 haha

Let me add: Justice (6th in state in scoring), Messer (10th highest FG% in state), Rowe (state's best FT shooter), Justice (10th FT shooter), Justice (5th in state 3pt FG), Rowe (12th in state 3pt FG), Messer (14th in state in rebounds), Kasongo (15th in state in rebounds) not to mention some other mountain kids I haven't seen. No stats for blocks or dunks or Kasongo and Hall would be mentioned much more.

To me Jordan Fox from Jackson should be on this watching him play he looks like the best player in the 13th Region, also the big man from Pineville is having a pretty good season I heard he was leading the state in field goal percentage, watched him against Perry Central and he had a pretty dominant offensive game against them.

I like that list Curveball. Gover would have been added to mine if I would have included 12th region.
02-15-2013, 02:01 PM
There's no way i put Hudson (Hazard) in the all mountain team
02-15-2013, 02:02 PM
I guess I'm biased since I've seen him play so much, but I would have Cory Pitts from Magoffin on my team. Good in the post, and can shoot from anywhere on the floor too. And will grad at least 10 rebounds or more every night. He is 6th in the state in rebounding.

G - Braxton Beverly
G - Darryl Beatty
F - Austin Pray
F - Justin Johnson
C - Dalton Cornett

I guess its All-PCC Team in the mountains! HUH???
02-15-2013, 02:21 PM
I don't understand all the love for kasongo kid. I have watch him head to head with Pitta from Magoffin twice Pitts clearly better and a much better rebounder. I understand he has div 1 body but he some nothing to deserve praise he got here. All the others named are deserving
02-15-2013, 02:23 PM
Mark my words! One of these days there will be a Mcdonalds All-American from the mountains!!!
02-15-2013, 02:57 PM
Justice is 74-190 which is 38.9% Joey Grove from Owsley is shooting 31-63 which is 49.2% and nobody knows about him It just goes to show that there is alot of talent in the mountains Grove is on a team that doesn't ask him to shoot alot of 3's because Shelby takes care of that and the team pounds it into Allen. All 3 are good players who will give the Owls a chance to make some post season noise
02-15-2013, 03:00 PM
I've watched games where Kasongo has dominated. But it seems as if he lets other players get in his head sometimes and he loses focus or something. He's a tremendous athlete though.
