EKYBubbaWatson Wrote:Now I will agree with you on some things. Clay did not come out with any energy or vengeance. Why?? You'll have to ask the boys. If Clay plays there A game and HC plays there A game I say Clay by 10-12. At HC, probably more like 5 point game. And you're right on HC. They better forget the last week or so and try to recover. This group has had high expectations for 3 years and they have yet to accomplish even a district title.
Also, Bubba, you may disagree with this as well as many others, but I think the draw for the Regional Tournament is extremely important for every team! It's just like last year with North Laurel. They got an excellent draw, executed, and found themselves in the finals when NO ONE expected them to be there. I've always thought in any level of sports, that if you make it to the Championship Game, it's a 50-50 shot and you never know what will happen. Good fortune and good play found North Laurel at the perfect time last year. The question is...who will be smiled upon this year at the right time? The answer, in my opinion, will be representing the 13th Region @ Rupp Arena in three weeks!

When it gets to this point in the season, your senior players have to take control. Veteran players have to step up this time of year. What I mean by this is do what ever it takes to win, because it is your last chanc

There are a lot of senior-dominated teams in the region â Clay, HCHS, Corbin, Pineville, Middlesboro, North, South...

I think it will be disappointing to see Clay County and Harlan County playing in anything other than the championship.

Sweet Sixteen first round match up tomarrow night at Clay County possibly Perry at Clay.

Yep. Clay may be without McDaniel tomorrow. Been out of practice with flu like symptoms.

Corbin played a very good game in the second half. Harlan County seemed to forget how they got their 16 point lead in the first place. All of them need to play all four quarters with intensity. It is getting too late in the season to be having consistency problems. Come on Black Bears, show everyone how good you are every game for the whole game not just in spurts!!!

Its funny that so many people believe Harlan County losing to Corbin is embarrasing.
They have the best record in the region, have only lost 6 games, and are as tough as anyone else in this down region.
IMO, Corbin should have been the favorite!
Pietrowski has always shown that he can win this region and compete for it every year.
It blows my mind that some of you think a loss to Corbin was embarrassing.
It really shows the parity, and to be honest, how BAD this region is this year.

I called Clay County to win this region before the season started and almost got laughed out of BGR.
Now, IMO, there the favorite, with Corbin and Harlan County close behind.

EKYBubbaWatson Wrote:Mountain Pride, awesome stat at the end. Looks like the HC home advantage isn't all that great. Fatigue from the 2 hr bus trips could be a factor in teams coming out slow or sluggish. I think HC is still a contender because of their athleticism and senior dominated team but they will have to play their A game to compete with Clay and beat the teams such as Jacksons, Corbin, NL, SL, Bell, Pineville, and KC.
Corbin started very slowly and Harlan Co. looked completely gassed late in the game, which surprised me and cost them the game.

The only thing more embarrassing than this loss was the one to Barbourville. Both remind me of Carl the Lion trying to hunt down the antelope with night vision goggles...we might try vegan after this...

Harlan County losing to Corbin is a disappointing loss. Harlan County should have easily beat them by 20. IMO I dont see how Corbins record is as good as it is right now, they have some kids that can shoot the ball but they are not really that talented in my eyes. Some teams to look out for come District/Region would be Barbourville, Bell, and Pineville. They are all playing good ball right now.
