Kentucky/Florida State?
#1
So knowing Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops and Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher's relationship could we possibly see a Kentucky/Florida State series get started in the near future like in 2014???
#2
Doubtful.
However, UK needs to get away from the cupcakes they have relied on for there 2 and 3 win years.
If Stoops wants to build a program, get a game or two that can get nationally televised.
Ive always thought we should play a Big 10 school instead of a Samford.
1 or 2 cupcakes are good, but you need two strong non conference games if you want to compete for the BCS title, afterall, thats why we play the game.
#3
What about Oklahoma
#4
No way, why would we?? We play in the toughest conference in the nation, hands down. Our conference schedule is brutal. We play an annual game with Louisville, one of the better non-secschools in the nation. We are currently in a contractual annual game with WKU, which I think is for the state. That leaves us only two games on the schedule. We need cupcake games to tap your depth chart & let the injured heal. I'd like to see us get Marshall on thr schedule instead of Miami (OH) or Ohio. Maybe say Cincinnati.

Schedule way to brutal to pick Florida St in a non conference game!!!
#6
No. This teams. Needs bowl games. And to do that they are gonna need out of conference wins. Cause where the wins in the sec will come from I just don't see right now.
#7
Stoops made the comment that you "recruit the best to play the best to beat the best"....in a year or two I could see UK's schedule including games like Florida St.
#8
like to see them do a home and home with Arkansas State,Louisville come here 3 yrs ago, when ASU wasnt as good, so that would give KY a very good game, they just wouldnt walk out with automatic win, and be alot better than a cupcake..ASU is doing a home and home with Mizzo

Bring back Indiana

And UC

Florida State would gain nothing from playing Kentucky.
#12
I could see us playing Florida state in 2015, but I don't know if it really will happen or not. If it does great if it don't great! I don't think that it helps UK or FLST that much, you look at teams like Bama they play cupcake teams every school in the nation plays them so why not UK. If UK was to go undefeated in the east I Guarantee UK will be going to a major bowl even with some cupcakes on the schedule.

I'd like to see us renew the rivalry with Indiana
#14
^
I agree we should renew it

Beating up on 1-AA schools and back MAC schools to make it to the Toilet Bowl is a way to entice big time recruits? I would rather UK play someone like Florida St. or even anybody from a BCS conference. Indiana, as others have suggested would be a good start. Beating IU would look better than beating 1-AA Direction University.

The only Big Ten team worth playing would be OSU, UM, PSU, Wis & MSU

Northwestern,Nebraska,Iowa???? All three have been better than UK recently and Nebraska And Iowa better for a long time.

I can see Iowa since thats where Stoops played ball and was a grad assistant

I could have swore that is the exact thing Ohio State does.
#20
You all act like i was saying play Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and ND as a non conference, when thats not it at all.

Im saying instead of playing freaking Samford and Kent State, pick up a couple of decent teams that we have a good chance of winning. Something like a Cincinnati and NC State, just get away from the complete cupcakes.
Bama and other top teams can play teams like Samford, because they dont lose in conference that much so there non conference doesnt matter when your winning SEC games.

Kent State was a ranked team.
#22
Maybe get a home and away with West Va in the next few years

You guys are missing the point. UK will be lucky to win 1 or 2 conference games a season for atleast the next 2 years. They need to show improvement in the win column. They played all these so called cupcakes this year and won only 2 games. And with petrino at wku and the recent success of Louisville the out of conference games aren't guaranteed w's they have to show they have improved enough to win games with current schedule before they play teams like Wva or Florida State. They need to make it to a Bowl game to show of the program on national tv. And in order to get there there gonna have to go 3-1 or 4-0 in non conference. If we play Louisville,FSU,Penn State, and Wva non conference and wind up 0-12 what did we accomplish in building the program. Cause all recruits see is 0-12

I think Kentucky will show much improvement next year, with new leadership and coaching. Stoops will get more out players then the previous staff.

And was the same reason people went nuts.
Even you can admit that UK had no business in the top 50 last year, literally.
And they blow out Kent State. That how big of a gap there was.
Kent State wasn't a ranked team. They were a team with a false number beside them. Even Herbstreet went nuts over that one.

I agree with maybe rehashing the IU rivalry. Louisville, WKU, Marshall, & Indiana. I like that non-conference schedule. At this point I'll take a bid to any bowl game. :flush:

While we are at it with indiana bring back the bourbon barrell

Care to elaborate? I don't remember a Bourbon barrel, but I do remember the Beer Barrel that was the trophy to the winner of the UT-UK game. That was discontinued in 1998, due to an alcohol related auto accident that claimed the life of UK player Arthur Steinmetz. For much of the same reason, I don't see them bringing back any kind of alcohol related barrel despite our rich culture known for his bourbon.

The rivalry with indiana though lesser known used a red white and blue bourbon barrell, until the accident in 98.

I could live with that. It is a step up from what they do now. When the WKU contract runs out, replace them with someone the caliber of UNC or Northwestern or someone from a major conference that UK is capable of beating.
