Good pick up...

So far the team seems to be shaping up to be a good one.

Mr. Highlight Reel.

I hope Mr Stoops turns this around and these kids dont waste there commitments on him.
We've seen it time and time before with new coaches. Lets hope he isnt wishing he went to Ohio State in 3 years.

Glad to have another great player.
Any word on the rest of today?

Thats all i got after being a UK fan for the past 28 years.
When we win, my attitude will change.

Weve seen to much good talent come into UK from this state only to drop off because of coaching. There have been several players that should have went somewhere else.
#11
I'm sure there are just as many guys that are glad they didn't. Ask randal Cobb if he'd wished he went somewhere else?? Who do you think regrets coming to UK?? Mossakowski or Donald russell?
#12
^Someone I think regrets coming here was Dennis Johnson.
#13
Micah Johnson is a prime example. With better coaching, he could have been a huge impact player in the NFL right now.
#14
It's funny the coaching didnt have a negative effect on Cobb, Stevie Johnson, Corey Peters, Tamme, John Connor, Trevathan or Woodyard just to name a few current NFL players off the top of my head.
#15
Tamme, Trevathan, & Woodyard All Play for the Denver Broncos this past year!
Thats crazy having 3 UK players on the same team!!!

RIUTG has a point here. There's a whole lot of kids I think had they went to other schools could had been break out stars. I won't blame it solely on coaching, but just some of the situations. Aaron Boyd, I honestly believe could have been great but seemed like he was always in the dog house with UK coaches over small things, while other guys somehow always stayed out of the dog house. Morgan Newton I feel was ruined by UK coaches..not necessarily the quality of coaching he received but by the situations they put him in. He was better, and had a bigger upside than Mike Hartline from day 1 on campus but was stuck behind him on the depth chart instead of letting him gain confidence against a weak schedule they had. They couldn't be decisive whether they wanted Hartline or Newton in, then stuck Newton in the toughest games and ruined his confidence early which can be a disaster for young kids. Kind of the same way they did with Towles and Whitlow this past year, constantly pulling one in favor for the other. Also its not fair to throw Cobb's name out...you put Cobb on a winning team he's probably a Heisman winner. I think Stoops can turn it around, and sincerely hope he does.

It tells me that he probably knows he couldn't play at the other schools.

You never know with these kids. Evert team they played tried to stopp him and he averaged 22 yards a touch. Remember Randall Cobb was only a 3star product. He is now one of the 10 scariest offensive players in the nfl.

If he can't play at Illionis, then he can't play at UK:biglmao: Illionis has fallen off radar in the Big Ten.

The more I learn about Timmons, the more impressed I am with that young man. Here is a stat I am not sure I have ever heard before. Teams avoided kicking off to him like the plague, only kicked off to him three times. What happened on those occasions? He ran back all three for touchdowns. Wow! I think he has a world of potential and one of those special players that you just have to figure out ways to get him the ball. That being said, he is young, will make some mistakes and has a lot to learn. But the feeling I am getting is that this coaching staff is one that is going to teach proper technique and try to bring each player to their full potential. Lets just try to give support and be as patient as we can with not only the players but coaches as well.

Micah has a few issues thats prevented his NFL career from taking off. One coming into college, he just like Dennis Johnson was overrated. Hatcher may be a bust too but at least we have plans a, b, & c in place. secondly is his ego. Due to the hype he thought he was better & more athletic than he really was. He thought he was a finesse player & truly should've played with his hand in the dirt at end. He struggles making an NFL team because he's a tweener. He's too slow to play LB but too weak to play end. It had little to do with coaching & more of him playing out if position.

I love it. I saw video of the Timmons kid and he is a playmaker.

The bottom line, is, was, and always will be UK's past head coaches have sucked complete ass.
Ive been the one saying it, along with many others for years, and those only blinded by the drink of the blue kool aid such as a few posters on here actually believed Joker was a good coach. Horrible coach, horrible recruiter, and horrible leader.

There are several players that made the wrong decision coming here. Theres a reason why kids dont come here. Its too risky, and you couldnt get the coaching you needed. Hopefully that changes, but in the past, its been way to prevelant.

Which is exactly why he should have went somewhere that he could have got the coaching to either improve his strength or speed.
There will never be a valuable excuse for the past UK coaches, there were all hopeless.

Not an excuse, I agree for the most part our coaches have been hopeless. The second half of Brooks' tenure wasn't so bleak. The flaw in his coaching was Joker called the offense & it was apparent.

As for Micah, I was never a fan of his after he got to UK. He arrived with the attitude he was a finesse player. You can't change a kids attitude, only try to guide it & hope he changes. He didn't & his career has shown that. He didn't/doesn't have the attitude to put his hand in the dirt. If he decided to get a mean streak & put his hand in the dirt, he'd been much more successful.

You can change a kids' position, if he buys into the team concept. Micah never did. He wanted to be a linebacker, & at nearly 270 wasn't as nimble as he needed to be. His 270 wasn't strength either. If he'd gotten in the weight room, he'd been up around 300 which would've meant he wouldn't have been at LB or DE. So it wasn't an issue of the coaches developing strength or speed. Had Micah taken advice of his coaches, they could've developed him into a great DE. He didn't want to, he wanted to be at LB. UK was afraid to upset the kid because of his clout & lose him. So they let him be a LB, part of the reason he picked UK I'm sure as Rivals even had him listed as DE. So now Micah is now a struggling DE, just trying to make an NFL team. Attitude, changes everything. Micah didn't change his. Wasn't the coaches' fault.

I don't think RIUTG likes Joker very much.

Well who in the state does? Do you I sure as hell don't!!:devilflam lol!!!!

I sure don't either. I appreciate & respect what he done as a player, as well as a recruiter here at UK but I hate the aspects of his coaching.

I dont. I also dont like Brooks, Morris, Mumme, Curry, and so on.
Hopefully Stoops is the one good hire UK has made in over 60 years.

Why would you include Rich Brooks in that group unless you really have no idea what you are talking about? 3 bowl wins, beat the #1 team in the nation at home, had Kentucky in the top ten in and hosting college gameday in 07, produced a number of NFL players. Yeah he really sucked...:please:
