Probably my favorite highlight to make is for Cody Estep. One of the most electric players I have ever seen at PHS. His big play ability reminds me a lot of Jeremiah Akers, even though they have subtly different styles, just that kind of impact on a game. Estep emerged on the scene as a talented WR last season and upheld that this season, all while adding in some stellar defensive abilities. His play at safety in the second half of the season really propelled a lot of the Panthers' improvement on that side of the ball. Estep will be looked to this upcoming season as one of the key players on both sides of the football and his play will play a large part in determining just how far this team can go. With some QB experience coming back, I would no be shocked to see Estep get close to, or break, the 1,000 yard receiving mark. Defensively, he will wreak havoc in the secondary and be a force in the running game.
And just as a fan/alum you could not ask for a better play to represent PHS. He is a very good teammate, very respectful and polite, and is an excellent student. Estep is the kind of kid that I would want my son to look up to if I had one haha. I wish nothing but the best for him in the classroom as well as the gridiron! Looking forward to seeing some more of #13 in 2013!

Excellent job, as usual, PT. You are right, Estep is a great representative of PHS. And, may I say, in addition to his skills as a wide out and defensive back, Estep has had some of the most prolific pancake blocks of the past two seasons. The young man is not afraid to put a hat on somebody. Regularly the fastest player on the field and his "nose for the football" play on defense on a 4th and goal from the 1 allowed Pikeville to defeat Raceland in OT in this past season's playoffs. This young man has a bright, bright future.
