LC has been impressive this year...

Listened to this game in the radio while i was on my way back home from the Magoffin girls game! It was very intense. Kasongo with a triple-double! 19 points, 19 rebounds, and 11 blocks! Wow! What a game. Congrats to the Panthers on the win and to LC for playing a good game!

This game was exciting a couple of times it looked like Pikeville would run away with it but the bulldogs would not back down. Scrapping their way back into even to take lead with 2 min to go. Great effort for a small young team. They held Pikeville to only one made 3 pointer and caused 22 turnovers. Congratulations to Pikeville for hanging on though. The upperclassman leadership really made the difference. This team is also learn and get better after each outing. Good luck on Frankfort

Ray Kasongo 19 pts, 19 reb, 11 blocks
Steven Silvers 10 pts
Panthers turn the ball over 22 times against a good Lawrence County D, only hit one 3, and find a way to put up 68 and get a W!

There are not many things I haven't seen as a fan of Pikeville High School Athletics, and tonight I can check this one off my list!
First All "A" Regional Championship in 20 years! It feels fantastic.
So happy for the players and coaches that put in the work to deserve this! It is great to get over that hump and finally cut down some nets in a regional environment!
The game was up and down, but this team is dead tired. They won this one off pure adrenaline. With Charles' ankle injury, the line up was 6-deep tonight butt hey found a way and that is all that matters.
So happy for the players, coaches, school, city, everyone! This is huge for this program and I want to thank them for it! HAIL PIKEVILLE!

What kills me is that all the Pikeville fans where bitching and moaning about Ray at ER last year and now that he is at Pikeville, he is the savior.....2 funny!!!!!!:biglmao:

Great game to listen to. This Lawrence County team is a tough bunch. Congrats to Pikeville on the win.

That is HIGH SCHOOL KIDS! You should know since you're around them enough...
This is your last warning. Stop singling out, hating and disparaging players, like you have Kasongo.

I told you all, been saying it for 15 months now...Kasongo is the real deal. Enjoy the performance he, Rowe, and the rest of the Panthers put on for he rest of the season and into the Region...I see many more dbl-dbl and one or two more triple-doubles in Kasongo's future, and more 25 point games in Rowe's future. GOOD LUCK PANTHERS, take it all the way to Rupp!

I hear Kasonga is quite a player. I still havent been able to figure out how a kid can come from Canada to an Eastern Ky school then after one year transfer to another school in the same region. I bet with all the controversy over the mass inflow of Canadian kids that the kHSAA makes some rule changes. It has totally changed the complexion of basketball in Eastern Ky . Cordia has brought 4 or 5 in this year alone. And why would they pick schools in Eastern Ky ?

Congrats to my friend Coach Cook and his team on having a good tournament..

Just wondering about the final 3 seconds after LC cut the lead to 1 on free throws. A pikeville player grabs the ball to take it out and steps over the end line with the ball and gives it to another pikeville player to take it out. I'm sorry but that's a turn over. I'm not taking anything away from the pikeville win but how can you just look away and not make the call in a game of this magnitude. Just blows my mind how this takes place.
Congrats pikeville. LC keep fighting. And they better get this LC team now because they are going to be good for the next several years.

Kasonga also fouled out, he had 4 fouls in the 4th quarter and fouled a LC player driving to the basket and they called it on someone else who wasnt even guarding the LC player. It wasnt an away from the ball foul either, cause the player he was guarding got two free throws. Kasonga even started walking to the bench because he thought it was on him. Several no calls on over the backs as well.
As for the triple double, it's good and all...but I would hope he could get one against a team that doesn't have a player over 6"2.

Exactly the same thing happened in the ER game the night before. When they called the foul about half way through the 4th quarter he ran to the official. The official did scold him but annouced the foul on another player who then made a face of disbelief that they called it on him. But it allowed the actual fouler to finish the game.

35 free throws for Pikeville to 13 for Lawrence.
Not taking anything away from Pikeville but adding to the mystique of 15th region refs. Congrats Pikeville.

Lawrence County is a HECK of a team, and will be even more dangerous come tourney time in March, but it was a rough and tumble game both ways.

Several no calls on over the backs as well.He did not foul out on that play. Called for a hack on the arm against Blaine May, if I remember correctly, who WAS guarding the shooter also. Got him on the way up, Ray blocked his shot with both hands and didn't touch him. Now, even I will admit I thought he would be called for one on the shot attempt BEFORE that one, and was surprised he didn't get called on it. But it went both ways. How about the "timeout" called by the LC player on the Pikeville end as he was falling out of bounds? Yeah, he called timeout, problem was, his foot was SQUARELY on the line, he was out of bounds already. Or how about the other timeout they let them call in front of the LC bench when NEITHER team had control of the ball during a scramble for a loose ball on the floor? It went both ways. Had a ref sitting next to me in the Pikeville-Paintsville game, and even HE was shocked at how poorly some of the games were being called overall.

I dont understand how a mod can post that he had a fight with a pikeville student fan after an early ER-pike game and to quote "left him in a pool of his own blood and puke" then call 8th grader Cam Justice a coward then call the ER coach "that bitch McCoy" but when someone doesnt agree with his assesment of a player then they are threatened.

What cold as ice said is 100% true. He said nothing bad about Kasongo just about Pikeville fans actions. I sat close to Pikeville fans last year at ER and the things they yelled at the two Canadians were not nice.

Did I miss where East Ridge participated in this game?

Here are my thoughts on this game. Hats off to Pikeville for winning, Kasongo can dominate if he would quit focusing on the students hackling him the entire game. He is a beast on the boards. Rowe is a really nice player, he has a nice game. The foul was actually called on # 5 Silvers but even Kasongo thought it was on him and started to walk off the floor lol and looked stunned when they announced they gave it to someoen else. As far as the inbounds play at the end of the game, how do you not call that in a game like this.? Both teams played their tails off and yet the refs had to do something that would leave a mark on this game. Pikeville came out hott and stunned LC,but the Dawgs battled through adversity and came back strong. I loved calling this game. LC keep your heads up, i think you guys did a great job!!!
