Pikeville 61 East Ridge 59
#1
Panthers escape Lick Creek with a come from behind district win to move to 2-0 in the 59th. PHS trailed 48-40 at one point in the 2nd half.

Quiet 24 points for Ethan Rowe. Kasongo finishes with 18 pts, 10 boards and 4 dunks, two of them were nasty.

ER played the toughest defense I have seen PHS face this season. Warriors left it all out on the court. Really nice effort. #15 had a solid game, IMO.

The win improves Pikeville's recent run over East Ridge to 19-3 in the last 22, since starting the rivalry 0-7.

Pikeville will now try to regroup and play for the 15th Region All "A" Championship in 22 hours against Lawrence County.

Great road win! HAIL PIKEVILLE!

I was proud of the effort East Ridge game tonight. They made a few mistakes here, and there that if they hadn't made I honestly think the game would have went in there favor. I have some opinions of a few things I saw in this game, espicially what happened after the buzzer had sounded, but I will keep from posting that, and I don't want to take away from a hard fought game by East Ridge.

This game, and season, solidifies Ray Kasongo and Ethan Rowe as two of the top players in the 15th Region and EKY.

It also really solidifies Pikeville as the 59th District #1 seed and and a good placement and high seed in the 15th Region Tournament.

Rowe is nearly guaranteed to give his team 25 points, 4 assists 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals a game. Ethan Rowe also is making nearly 4 threes a game and is at 3.7%.

Kasongo is guaranteed for a double double every night, averaging 16.5 PPG and 10.5 RPG, 55.8% FG shooting.

Also, GOOD JOB WARRIORS! Great hustle out there! Now beat Valley twice and earn that #2 District spot!

Congrats to Pike. One of East Ridge best efforts

A national scout beast would know in ky the region is not seeded. District winners play district runners up. Whoever wins the 3 team 59th are in the region but if they lose the champ game they will draw a winner from another district.

Great game and great atmosphere! Best crowd I've saw at East Ridge in a long time! Rowe hit some big free throws down the stretch. Great effort tonight warriors!
#7
I told those sitting with me that it had a big game atmosphere feel to the game, which it did. That was the biggest crowd I've seen at a ER game in a while. Even during the JV game it was a nice crowd.

Vundy 33, you have no clue what you are talking about, you are all about Ray Kasongo.....He is not that good, he is just bigger than everyone and should dominate.....If he was that good why was he at ER and now at Pikeville....its a crock of chit....he couldn't play at UPike next year....Athletically and ACT wise...But why don't you just ride his a#$ all the way too?????

You're opinion is invalid man. Scholarships speak for themselves. To places like UCLA, Arizona, USC, NC State. I could give ya his top 3 if ya like?

Again, congrats to Pikeville, and proud of ER's toughness and crowd tonight. Good luck to them.

And he came to EKY to stand out, to draw college attention. How many times do I need to say that on here?? -.-

Invalid, just because you go visit a school doesn't mean they are offering a scholarship, you need to do some research, no one has offered him chittttt, his top 3 he would like to go but he hasn't even got the score on his ACT, you know what that is, I am telling you right know he would struggle to play in the Mid- South Conference next year.....My opinion is very valid, been around, played and coached a long time and he is nowhere near playing at the schools you listed!!!!

Any word on when Wolter returns to East Ridge?
#13
I think Kasongo would benefit from a year at UPike, maybe two. He is a freak though to say he's not a great player is proposterous.
#14
Ugh...Google, use it. Done with this stupidity.

I think it is so funny how the Pikeville proud love Kasongo now when they fought like crazy last year to get him ineligible. I hear from a very reliable sorce that the KHSAA has ruled him ineligible again and it's a matter of time before he will see him hang up his shoes.

I'm not going to get into a debate of who has been offered a scholarship or who hasn't. I will say that getting a scholarship, athletic or otherwise is a process and I'm not sure that everyone understands that. I have been involved with lots of kids getting scholarships, athletic, academic, you name it. I will tell you that anyone wishing to get an ATHLETIC scholarship must go through the NCAA Clearing house. This is an academic process where a student must meet scholastic requirements consisting of grades and test scores. If a student cannot meet those requirements, he or she is not eligible for a scholarship and they are not eligible to play sports at a NCAA Sanctioned school. Now, I know for a fact that Coaches at that level WILL NOT offer athletic scholarships unless the student has cleared the clearing house. I don't care if you are LeBron James, if you don't pass the clearing house, you get no scholarship and you do not play. I'm not saying anyone has or has not passed the clearing house, I'm just explaining the process involved. If you cannot pass the clearing house you can go to a Non-NCAA program and try to make satisfactory academic progress to attend an NCAA School, but that in-itself is a challenge, as most kids that go that route don't make it. Coaches at an NCAA program do look at kids in those programs, but they must be very impressive, as NCAA Coaches will place priority on high school recruits.

The comments on Facebook that are still being made about this game have reached an absurd level. Sometimes I think we forget that basketball is a game. But congrats to East Ridge on a hard fought game. I'm proud to be a Warrior.

I find that funny as well.

Fred Taylor I thought the same thing but last night a very reliable source told me the state legislature passed a law a few years ago that the KHSAA did not have the authority to over rule a court injunction so if you are in a politically good situation and you can get a judge to rule in your favor you can do about anything you want.
#20
I used google I saw nothing but claims by his backers like Bender. It says he can score from the wing and has a high motor. I have watched him 2 years and never saw either of those traits. Where would you go to find true info on his offers?
#21
Rowe is a great guard, I believe he could start for any team in the mountains.

There is no truth to the statement Pikeville tried to get Kasongo ruled ineligible last year. He was ruled eligible rather quickly when he enrolled at East Ridge.

No one including the KHSAA can overrule a court injunction. The Court of Appeals is the only place a temporary injunction can be overturned.
#23
I made a misstatement. I ask if this situation would be like others in the past; that is wait till the season is over the KHSAA declares him ineligible and fines pikeville. Which in real life means nothing as the games are over. But I was told that could not happen as the legislature took away the KHSAA right to make such an action. I was told the KHSAA has appealed the injunction but the season will be over before it is heard.
#24
NAIA has a clearing house as well before eligibility is allowed.
#25
this is all so funny :please::please: lol
#26
Kasongo with a good game against his old school, congrats
#27
I think the injunction stuff is just a way of passing the buck!!!

I work for FOX, and work with these players every day. I have no reason to BS about a damn scholarship. Geez man...heres your link. And it's not even complete or updates, this is based on his offers in the summer.

As you'll notice, 6 of those 12 are top 25 schools. And 3 are top 10. And it's not even close to done yet. I figured you'd have more respect for my word since we know each other, but whatever, you'll see, like everyone else.

Well ban me if you wish I dont care I know you personally and know you have never been around a basketball program. I dont know who you fooled into a job but I know you would not know basketball it flew in the stands and hit you in the face. Kasongo is a nice player and some day may play college ball but right now to say his skill level is the colleges on his list only shows your lack of knowledge of the game.
#30
And I dont understand the injuction is a way of passing the buck comment. If the rules which all high schools are suppost to abide by since they are members of the KHSAA he would have never played for Pikeville this year as they ruled his transfer ineligible. Only a Pikeville judge ruled him eligible. And dont give me if would be unfair for him to miss this season. If the KHSAA ruling had been upheld his AAU connections would have him playing at a prep school somewhere.
