to make it to State next year? Or will this be a rebuilding team?
01-10-2013, 05:31 PM
Rebuilding team by Breathitt standards. Win district and maybe a round or two in the playoffs.

^ how is that rebuilding. That has been there ceiling the last few years being unable to get past belfry

Well the last two years they have had a shot to beat Belfry had they caught a break or a bounce, this year they wont.
Add to that they have had two straight undefeated regular seasons and a loss or two next year wouldn't surprise me if we keep Somerset or Hazard on the schedule or add another good team.

this yr they had NO SHOT to beat Belfry.

Seemed like they lose most of their firepower. Might be a second round exit.

Breathitt will be back...they always are...but this year the Bobcats will take some lumps and if a team of returning talent like Lawrence County doesn't eliminate the Bobcats... then Belfry will be on a whole different level come the Regional Finals.

You are crazy,They just chose that game to play their worst. Not to mention the loss of their deep receiver. They was throwing deep to a much slower and undersized receiver that netted in a couple ints.,But guess what last year is over now so Belfry won and advanced to lose AGAIN.Breathitt will maybe win district next year on maybe one playoff game;maybe not even one.It will be a while yet for Breathitt again.

Breathitt will be better than most think. They lost a great player in Trent. They have allot of big linemen returning and a few really good skill players. The kid from Prestonsburg has the has allot of potential and I hear the coaching staff really likes him........
01-14-2013, 10:17 AM
Who are there returning skill players? Is the kid from P'burg going to be there starting qb?
01-14-2013, 01:38 PM
Has the Bobcats filled out their schedule yet?
01-14-2013, 09:25 PM
Got a lot of big shoes to fill next season.

Noble returns at WR. Also have several young RB's and WR's that will get significant playing time and should do well.
They have some young lineman coming up that should become the strength of the team for the next few years.

Trent, Shouse, and Fugate will no doubt be the most difficult to replace. I have heard the Grigsby kid from P-Burg has a lot of talent and will most likely be the starting QB next year. As far as skill players, Noble will be the go to guy and I look for him to have an excellent senior season. Breathitt returns a very strong group of lineman as well. I look for the bobcats, like anyother program to get a couple of transfers before next year as well. As far as the outcome of next season, I see the bobcats winning the distirct and being defeated by Belfry in the regional finals. Good luck next year bobcats.

Breathitt will be fine.

Morgan and Magoffin will play for the district title in 13'. Breathitt lost way too much offense. Morgan returns 7 starters on both sides and 3 of them were All-Staters. Morgan co. lost Whitt, Crase, Conley and Collins. Breathitt lost like 19 seniors. Morgan will have 14 seniors in 13'. 1st team All-State JT Brown, All-State HM Kody Thornsberry, All-State DL Jared Short all return for Morgan co.. Magoffin only lost 4 seniors as well, they return the majority of everybody. Trent carried Breathitt through 3 games this year, they would have lost all 3 without him.

they will compete but dont see them makin a oush for state for a few more years.

Sounds like they may be looking for a coach.

Care to explain this?
Talking with Coach a couple weeks ago he didn't sound like a man ready to retire or take another job.
01-29-2013, 09:58 PM
He will be the new coach at LCC.
LCC wasn't open 2 weeks ago. And there Super hadn't called him at that time, with the offer.

I still don't believe this. I'll speak to him in the morning but it will be a surprise to me.
I can't see him leaving the gig he has at Breathitt to go to a dumpster fire like LCC where the fans will be wanting him fired before halftime of the first game.

With the state taken over, he probably wants no part of it. As I said in another thread, not good for athletics when state takes over.

What does that have to do with athletics? He has enough years in to retire, lives less than a mile from the school in a nice house on the lake and coaches in a stadium with his name on it.
What coach leaves a school with a stadium named after him to go coach somewhere else? Especially if the school he is going to is in the shape LCC"s program is in. I am sorry but it just doesn't make sense.

You will have to ask him. Last day to apply for LCC football coach is feb 8th.

We saw how good the Cougars were last year with losing 3 out of 4 games to end thier season. Yeah, they played the game of their life against Breathitt and still lost by two tds on their home field. They finished the season barely beating Magoffin County, and losing to a horrible East Carter team and an average Lawrence County team. Speaking of Magoffin County didn't they finsih around .500 last year. If I didn't know any better, I would think both these teams are bringing back state championship caliber talent. Trent was the heart and soul of last years team, but Breathitt will be putting a pretty good QB out on the field this year as well.

Cory has not one the starting spot yet. Adam White has a good arm and will have just a good a chance to start for the Bobcats.
01-31-2013, 09:19 AM
The Grigsby kid will start in my opinion. White does have a very good arm but he will be a senior, and Holcomb wants a quarterback who is going to be in his system more than one year. Either way the bobcats will have a solid quarterback.
01-31-2013, 10:04 AM
White does have strong arm. The coaching staff doesnt seem to have much confidence in him for some reason.Grigsby has a strong arm as well and is accurate. He also has the ability to tuck it and run..Both are good kids and will play..

They lost 99% of it. In all fairness, last of the year Morgan county had 6 starters out with injuries. Morgan played Breathitt with their best player out with a tore acl. May have been a different story on that night if he played.
Morgan will be alot better this season, alot. Breathitt lost a ton. Morgan returns almost their entire team.
