Kentucky played good and the refs were awful. I'm impressed with UK.

Great game to watch.
Free throw shooting has to improve for UK. I thought it was officiated very well minus the no call on Dgieng and the bad call on Siva.

Other than wanting to murder a few guys in stripes.
They did not cost us the game. Helped a little bit when they called it tight for a few minutes.
Free throws have to improve. And we would have won.

Cauley Stein didn't play any basketball before coming to UK did he? I know he was a wide receiver in high school for football

This was a fun game to watch, both teams benefit from the game
Louisville gets a win, Kentucky starts playing team basketball. Both teams will be dangerous by tourney time

Looked horrible at times, and looked really good at times. They're improving alot. Gotta hit free-throws to win games though.

Completely agree.

Louisville won but the shouldn't be too excited about it. UK shoots like a grade school team from the foul line, throws away the ball a ton of times and even playing at Louisville only loses by three. Loss still sucks but if they can improve on their free throw shooting and learn from some really bad turnovers, UK could very well finally reach the potential everyone has been talking about since the signing day last spring.

The travel on noel at the end was a terrible call. But it is hilarious to me that Louisville cant manage to blow out the worst team that Cal has had at UK while they have the best they have had in twenty years.
12-29-2012, 08:33 PM
I think it's bad that UK fans think this team stinks and that Louisville should be embarrassed. UK has a good basketball team, just not as good as teams like Duke, Kansas, Louisville, and Arizona right now. Louisville should be concerned because they had their foot on UK's throat, but instead of stomping on it, they took their foot off (expression). Great teams know how to put teams away when the moment is there. If this game proved anything, it's that UK is not over hyped

Had the deficit right at 3 points...wrong team won. Cats are starting to gel.

UK is starting to gel but still plays like a bunch of freshmen with no leader. I was surprised UK kept this game close. How many points did UK give up on unforced turnovers, missed foul shots, not getting back on D and technical foul? They GAVE UofL a ton of freebees. If guard play improves, UK could make some noise come March.

Early on, Cats were awful! But finally grew a pair and started playing with heart. We need to cut down on our forced shots. And let the offense work and be patient. But that's typical freshman. Wiltjer stroking it from 3 was good to see because when he's not hitting. He contributes non to the team. But a lot of positives came from this game. The Cats needed to make free throws and we win this game in my opinion against a heck of a ball club that has a lot of experience!
I do want to say that it was soooo good seeing Harrow looking so comfortable out there. We need that and he's starting to deliver.

Well got a break at work so here is my thoughts. First off congrats to my cards! Glad we got the W! Inwas impressed for about 33 minutes of play and then theybket UK back in it. Olks its a rivalry game, its almost always gonna be close! No other rivalry in college bball compares to this one. I was amazed with my boy Russ Smith. He is fearless. Siva played well, the only poor officiating calls was at crucial point in the game. Ifeel the Siva was 2 feet from even touching him on the 3 at the end but that was make up call because Dieng fouled Noel before that. UK obviously got the make up and then some on that deal. Inwas impressed with Chane as well. I feel that this years cards team can win it all. We have talen and experience. Now to UK. I hate them! Lol jk but I was impressed with the play of the youngsters, they played great in the end and had the HEART and WILL to come back and make this a game. Harrow looked at his full potential at times in this game, Maybe the best he has looked all season at times. Goodwin was big today too as was WCS. Sure he helped UL out today by missing 13848363 free throws but besides that he performed well. Free throws are key to pulling an upset and thats where the cats fell short today. Blame it on the refs all ya want, it was as good called game as any. Fact is UK missed enough FT to win the game. But all in all UK benefited from this game and gained the confidence they needed to move forward and UL will only get better from this point as well. Glad my cards got the W but Had they not I would still feel the same about this game. Great learning experience for both teams especially UK.

Lol, horrible calls cost us the game??????? Typical of my UK brethren. 4 free throws is all it took - FOUR. Cauley goes 0-8 counting the violations. Noel would have missed the free throws and nothing would be different.
Not a single comment about not calling the timeout???????? So the no call cost the Cats more than not calling the timeout? Take off the blue shaded glasses because Cal has even said the failure to call the timeout cost them the game.
What about sitting Poythress the final 7 minutes???????
This team is there. Despite how poorly they played at times, they never quit. It was enjoyable to watch this team mature before our very eyes. Ive said all along that Cals frosh PG's hit there stride at the beginning of conference play, and it certainly looks like Harrow discovered his confidence. Cauley-Stein played incredibly on both sides of the floor. Noel stared to show signs that he is the next Anthony Davis.
This team could have easily made four free throws and would have won. Belly aching and casting blame except what they had complete control of themselves is typical blind fandom. This team has played to within 3 points of the #1 and #5 teams in the nation. That is the Cats I expect to see in March. They are NOT the team that lost to Notre Dame

FREE THROWS!
And this game got close when it was officiated tight.
That's why u see UL stopped short evry year. The game is officiated more tightly in the tournament and they can't adjust.

Siva should have fouled out in the first half.

UK should never lose to the Cards period, absolute embarrassment. Players have no understanding of what UK basketball is about, another loss like this and UK needs to begin looking for a new coach, absolutely no excuse for this, none.

Smith was the difference maker in this game. UK had no defensive answer for him

I agree to disagree with that comment. If siva should have than Noel or WCS should have too. They got by with murder on Behannan all game. But I'm not gonna complain about refs because it was called ad fair and even as any game you will watch. If they missed a call they made up for it on the other end. Ex. Dieng fouled Noel at the end and they called a traveling violation, mext play goodwin hit a tough shot but he didnt get touched. Noel would have missed both free throws anyway so UK got help there. I feel the game was evenly called for both sides. But the losing team will always blame the refs

Happens every year. They will not allow UL to mug players in the tournament like they do during the regular season.
Goodwin was murdered all game. When the refs called it tight for 10 minutes during the second half your entire team just about fouled out.
And still would have lost of our football player could make some free throws .

UK just made some big shots and got some calls in the second half. But like I said I was impressed with the heart and will. Still disagree though. I mean UL went alot farther last season than anybody would have thought. The way I see it is its just good pressure D.

The got some calls part is funny.
Goodwin was mugged. Multiple times. The play at the end of regulation wa embarrassing to watch. The cards basically tackling the cats.

^ And the Cats didnt mug a single Card thst the refs let hunh? Sure, there were plenty of missed calls, and UK had even committed 1 or 2.........:Shaking:

Not calling the timeout was the worst Moment cal has has as UK coach. I don't mind losing if we get beat. But shooting under 50 percent from the line turning the ball over and the coach not knowing how many timeouts he has are all unacceptable ways to lose. It's just beating ourselves at this point.
