I don't care who they get as coaches. If they don't get players it won't matter.

Have you not heard? We have big recruits that are calling Kentucky wanting to talk with Coach Stoops, Recruits that have/would have said no before.
I do believe that this has sealed us up with Ryan Timmons out at Franklin County.

Getting Scharlman is a big big plus being as he has ties to Highlands. That school is known to have good players

But we don't have big time recruits yet. Look back at some of these posts. Steel wall defense? Unstoppable offense? Thee guys are coaches not gods.

Let's just say I can't wait until signing day!

Kentucky fans don't need to get their hopes up about being awesome next year it's gonna take some time to get their but we eventually will. Maybe couple years. I do expect them to win more than 2 games next year

True, these coaches are not gods...but how long has it been since we've had coaches like these? If we can get 2 or 3 4* athletes to come here and we have good season that will help get better recruites in the future. I'm not expecting a trip to BCS bowl next year, but change is coming. If Barnhart doesnt get the results Stoops is talking about, Barnhart will get a pink slip along with Stoops in 3 years if Stoops doesn't turn the program around.

Barnhart made a great hire according to almost everybody. Why blame him if things don't work out.
I hope you guys are right but in true UK fashion it is one extreme to another.

Why blame him??? Well for one asking Tim Coach for advice:lmao:.I've never heard of an AD ask a former player for advice. Being an AD you would think Barnhart would know which direction to go to get the football program back on the winning side of things. Correct me if I'm wrong but did he consult Mashburn about hiring Calipari??

Also how can a HC allow a program to fall in which he was apart of for so long. Barnhart approved promoting Joker to HC. Jimbo didnt allow FSU to collapse when he took over after Bowden retired.

Just seen on twitter that Kentucky has offered Texas Tech commit Davis Webb. 3* QB who committed to Tech but is changing his mind and is re-thinking his decision between Tech, Kentucky, TCU

3 seasons is not a long time.
If you don't think Couch is a good person to consult with I don't really have anything else to say to you. Maybe he should have just listened to a bunch of dumbasses on a message board.

DUMBASS??!!:dontthink:dontthink Like I said being AD you would think which direction the programs needs to go in and not have to ask for someones opinion. Based on other winning programs in the conference that win, that would be the type of coach you would need to get.
3 years will be a good indication on where the program is going, look at what Kelly is doing at Notre Dame. Joker was let go after 3 years, and you can say he had a head start.

Actually he did consult ex basketball players during the coaching search that resulted in the hiring of Calipari. And it was a couple of those players that were heavily responsible for Mitch going with Calipari.....hh:

Just because you can run an athletic program doesnt mean you have the knowledge of the best way to run a team. Former players might understand more about coaches schemes and whats best for our program since we will never be bringing in consistent 4 and 5 star recruits.

Stoops must be a very likeable guy.

I agree its going to take time for kentucky to be turned around but i think with the coaches signed is a step in the right direction, neal brown had texas tech offense one of the country mark stoops dj elliot had florida state defense number 2, been a show of support for the recruits with the coaching staff and i heard the number 3 recruit in the nation has uk on his bottom list, its going to be a interesting few years cant wait to see how this turns out.

I haven't watched Brown's offense at TT or anywhere else, but I hope he already knows what Mumme figured out at UK: in order to successfully run the "Air Raid" offense in the SEC you must, absolutely must, be able to throw the ball deep. Otherwise the corners play press coverage and the safeties play up, making it extremely difficult to run the short and middle passing game. The athletes playing in the defensive secondary in the SEC are just too darn talented and athletic to allow them not to have to worry about getting deep.
Why did Mumme start Lorenzen instead of Bonner, when Bonner had lead the SEC the prior year in passing completion, etc. the year before? Because Mumme saw that Bonner did not have the arm strength to throw the ball deep and the SEC defenses adjusted to the dink and dunk passing game. He knew that without the deep ball as a threat, it was going to be more and more difficult to run the short to middle passing game. It was a very difficult and unpopular decision by Mumme and not one made lightly. But he realized the importance of the deep passing game in his O.
Anyone familiar with Brown's O at TT know if he threw the ball deep at least 5-10 times a game?

TE coach has been filled by Vince Marrow from Nebraska

If UK does end up running the "Air Raid" offense, who's the better QB for that type of offense, as someone said above you have to be able to throw the ball deep a few times a game or more, so which QB is better suited for that type of offense? I like Towels myself, i've seen him throw the ball deep and is pretty accurate if given the time to throw.
12-11-2012, 04:05 PM
Max smith and Towles will be battling for the starting qb spot Id say. Whitlow will become a Randall Cobb type player.

The Vince Marrow situation is up in the air. Reports were saying he was coming and now people are saying that its up in the air. He doesn't know if he wants to leave as in moving his kids to a new schools, moving in general, etc. etc. but their is still a huge chance he comes and he's a big time recruiter in Ohio.

Lets all hope he does come, cause that's what we need is a big time recruiter in Ohio, someone who can get us kids here and them not go to Ohio State.
