What's the thoughts on next season for Panthers?:pondering:

Good year, almost through our talent heavy kids in retrospect to their Grades. Might see a couple mediocre years to come then We shall be back at it. !!

Next year should be a very good one again! Only lose two offense and defense lineman so line should be in pretty good shape. Lose Qb and corner fullback and the most explosive player in J Canady Mr everything he will be hard to replace. All in all this could be called a rebuilding year but I don't really think it will, the panther will surprise some teams next year.

One thing that will be overlooked by many was that kid's punting. A very important part of the game.

I would love to see Knox and Whitley start playing.
Ive heard rumblings of it. I know both have open spots the last i heard.
Lynn Camp, Somerset, Clay, and Rockcastle all dropped Whitley, and the only one i had heard of picking up was Madison Southern. With four district games, Boyle, Bell, and MS, we still need three games.

Contradict much?

I wouldn't mind see those two play either, would be a very good series IMO. I'm not sure how many spots that the panthers have left.

Was really hoping everyone changed their minds about KC playing at HC next year at the new stadium, but it appears thats not going to happen for some reason...
12-08-2012, 03:03 PM
The reason that I've heard is because KC picked up bell next year and the only way they could play HC was going to be back to back weeks and coach Russell didn't won't to do that going into district play. But I think they should any way just makes you better in long run.

Yea I agree. That cupcake non district schedule last year hurt em. Beat Lynn Camp, Clay,Rock, Somerset. Lost to Russell Co, Bell Co,, Boyle Co.
I also believe you will see Whitley and KC plaing week 5 2013-14.

Somerset, Bell, Boyle and Russell was a pretty good non district schedule. Why did Somerset drop Whitley? Those were very good games the last two years. MS with Harris should be a great game.
12-10-2012, 10:18 AM
Bell will be a exciting game.
12-11-2012, 11:09 AM
Bell / Knox will be all that. Mills first trip back after leaving. Can't wait.

I'm hearing Bell,Harlan Co,Whitley weeks 3 4 5. This should make a really tough schedule with probably a Freshman Quarterback.

I spoke with coach Russell tonight and he said Harlan Co. is still on the schedule

Whitley/Knox would be a great game for both schools. Big pay day in that the crowd would be huge. It is amazing how far Knox has come in the last 10 years. Good facilities and coaches make a difference.

I'm glad to see that one get done.
With Lynn Camp off the schedule, I figured it might set us up for a potential game with Knox every year.
Close game with lots of fans. Should be a fun one.

from everything I'm hearing next years sched should be very interesting. from what I've been told week 3 prestonsberg week 4 Bell Co week 5 Harlan Co week 6 Whitley Co. If this is true this should make the panthers ready to make a real run in playoffs. you only get better when you play better teams. This are some of the better teams in the mountains, you ask for panther fans now lets hope we get it.
12-18-2012, 03:43 PM
sure hope that the sched. turns out to look like what I've heard, glad to see that there is no Tenn. teams this year, time to get back playing good in state teams.
12-18-2012, 03:56 PM
I believe HC still has 1 TN team on it, but the next two years looks amazing to me. I'm so glad the "mountain" teams of Knox, Bell, Belfry, Johnson are there. I can't wait for football season!!!

Love seeing the matchups from the old 3A district that was together forever between KC, Bell, Whitley, Rock, and Cawood (Harlan County). Nice to see a lot of those teams playing non-district games even though they've scattered in different directions with the six classes.

I made that point in another thread.
I played in that district. It was one of, if not the best districts in the mountains back in the 90's. Im glad to see all these teams scheduling each other again.
12-19-2012, 02:44 PM
Knox and Harlan County have the two toughest schedules in the mountains. Wow!!! We will see how good they are early.

I don't think that is true about playing a tough schedule to get you ready for playoffs, a real tough schedule, gets, your players beat up and injured so they can't play in the playoffs,or they end up playing hurt.
