Okay--watching American Idol makes me think that these shows are not "real" matter of fact, I think that they are completely fake.
There are a lot of times where things appear to be "scripted". . . . .
Does that make it different than "reality"?

Scripted is definetly different than reality but I think reality shows just consist more of them casting certain times of people for "roles". People know when they are the jock, the *****, the *****, etc. etc. They make themselves fit the bill and the editors cut scenes out that show them doing anything outside of the role that they were cast for.

But you description begs the question: is that reality?
And I ask because there are 100's of shows that do exactly what you say--and bill their selves as "reality" tv.

Come on, DT . . . .
How can they NOT be scripted?
A director pushes and prods 2 people against each other . . . . Not real hard to do. (See MTV, "The Real World"). The people on the show even say that the "story line" is manipulated.
Well, here is my question: how is it REALITY if there is a "story line"?

Well I don't know..lol...

I SWEAR--I laughed out loud!
DT/Balla--you both ROCK!
DT--your honesty (you second post) is admirable. Especially if you are really that much of a reality freak.
For me--it comes down to the fact that people are making money off of marketing something as one thing, but in reality, it is something a little different.

Eagle Football Wrote:America idol has to be scriptedI don't see how this can be true when you have to have people that can actually sing to be on the show. Of course they are going to show some of the funny ones but Simon said that they only show the people that actually think that they are good and arn't just trying to make it on TV. I don't see how that can be scripted. I mean the only important part is that they sing the song, that's the only reality to it.
