Pikeville won the first quarter on some outstanding 3 point shooting by Rowe (5 tres and a 2). After that it was very evenly matched. They each had 18 in the second quarter. Everything was reset after the half. Pikeville then took the third by 7 and Paintsville took the 4th by 6. VERY physical game.
Some some flashes of the 08 team tonight from the young Tigers. By saying flashes. I mean their physical play. Tigers look to go around 6 deep from the bench, with all them being 8th thru 10th graders.
Panthers are gonna go as Ray and Rowe go. Either get into foul trouble, then the Panthers are in trouble. JMO. Ray played tonight. That is until he delivered a headbutt to one of the Tiger players. The officials didn't see it. BUT, Coach Willaims did and called a timeout and benched him the rest of the evening.

Sounds encouraging that the Tigers will be physical and can hold their own. Shame the Konsago kid head butted a player but as good as he is he will be a target all year in the 15th. Best to the Tigers amd Panthers this year.

Did Tiller play? I noticed you said all of the Paintsville's players were 8th to 10th grade.

Tiller played. I believe Hook stated that the six coming off the bench were
8-10th grade.

Sounds like both teams played hard and physical. The Ray kid is going to like all players that are built up, ( a target ) he just has to work his way through it, play hard and fair. He needs to earn everyone respect not only as a player but also as a person. When and if he can do that he will have arrived. Not an easy task for a kid......

Tiller did play and he looked to be at the top of his game. His athleticism is through the roof. Both he and Rowe from Pikeville put on a clinic. It seemed like both players had to be in the 30 to 35 point range for the 4 quarters. IMO these two will be the best two guards in the 15th all year.

Hook maybe you can clear this up for many. Who was the starting five for Paintsville and the top subs in your opinion since you keep the book. Sorry to put you on the spot.

If Paintsville is going to compete every night they will need to penetrate much better. Tiller dribbling out front is not much of an offense. I would post him down low on a smaller guard and use his athleticism.

Not smart on Ray's part. Can't lose your head. Paintsville played very physical which is typical of a Bill Mike team. Ray will need to get used to everyone taking their best shot at him (some clean, some not). Not many teams can compete against someone 6'8" 230lbs. Most teams will try to be physical and get into his head.

Good horseshit from ya.
They played physical with him, don't blame em either, and he was physical back. Simple as that.
Small teams like Paintsville will do this considering he is 6'8" 240 with a 7'2 wingspan.

What was the final score?

^Not for sure. I think the Panthers (ROWE..LOL) outscored them by 12 I think in the 1st quarter. So that was pretty much the final margin.

Tiller is the best athlete in the region.
11-21-2012, 11:54 AM
I agree. Which begs the question, why doesn't he defend better than he does?

Definitely a great athlete. Can't say best athlete in the region. But I have to wonder why Paintsville allows him to stay on the perimeter? Not much offense for a team when he dribbles around the top and takes a long range jumper. IMHO this has been happening the last couple of years and Paintsville will need to change their offense if they plan to compete for district and region.

I think that there were two 11th graders played as well but they haven't been reconized for being on the team for the last 2 years so why start now.
