Their alot better than Breathitt,Whitley and Perry so we see if they can score 34 on the jumpers, I hope Somerset wins but when you play these teams from northern kentucky their just a litle better than these teams in southern and eastern kentucky.

I love how most want to anoint the winner of this game as the 2A champs. I think that's a little premature. Out of all the remaining 2A teams left, DeSales has played the toughest schedule. They beat, what i think was the best team, in CAL. They have been fighting injuries all year long, and those players are filtering back in the line-up now. They've held Green Co, CAL, and Glascow to a combined 24 points. The biggest knock on them, is that their young. Can they finish it? Bubba Paris came by on Fri, and gave a great speech to the boys. They look focused. I'm hoping it's DeSales vs Somerset in the finals. I have ties to both schools. I'm sure there are a few dad's here who son's will be playing on friday like mine. I told him, only 24 schools get to practice on turkey day. The turkey will taste just a little bit better this year! Good luck to all the teams. it's a great accomplishment to make it to semi-state. It's something I hope the boys will never forget.

Serious question in terms of reality and not the mythical worlds of power rankings, strength of schedule, and magical formulas, what type of offense does Somerset run? Do they still throw the ball as much as they did when Cole was playing? That's the last time that I saw them play.

Somerset is mainly spread and has thrown the ball as much with Cole up until last year when they had a converted QB starting (nicker. They only passed the ball probably 14 times a game whereas this year we have Castle Hatcher and the passing attempts are starting to increase. Somerset has a lot of weapons and coach Lucas is known for spreading the ball around to each weapon, I think in the LCA game 6 different players scored for Somerset. It seems lately that Somerset hasnt gotten anything running up the middle. I dont know if that has anything to do with the interior line or tougher competition but i feel like something has changed.

Highly debatable. If you had said Danville it might be a different story. for now i just laugh at the comment :thatsfunn

Thank you. I liked Somerset's QB back then w/ Cole. Big, strong gamer. Looks like NewCath's perimeter will be thoroughly tested.

Not trying to convince anyone....just stating a fact......Newcath will bring just as many fans to the game as they do on any other Friday night.

I don't think that's funny or laughable a bit. I've seen Caldwell, up close and personal, and their skill positions are as fast as any I've seen all year including some 5-a and 6-a schools!

Hope they fill the Stands. But if you don't think playing at home has it's perks then you havn't been around much High School Football. I'll bet NCC will tell you they rather be at home.:HitWall:

You might have seen Caldwell, have you seen Danville? If you have, you would understand where im coming from.

Home field advantage is just not about number of fans. It is about long bus rides, unfamiliar locker rooms, and playing surfaces. The day after Thanksgiving is particularly difficult because teams are taken out of their routines. New Cath will travel well but Somerset will have the entire community behind them including Pulaski County and Southwestern.

Somerset's on a Roll!!! Clicking on all Cylinders!!! Defense WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! I expect the Jumpers to do just that and get it started by Beating NCC 24-12!!! Lets Go Jumpers its our Time!!! Take State 2012!!!!

Not arguing with you on the schedule but as for CAL being the best win...Didn't CAL lose to LCA? Somerset beat LCA 42-19 in the second round in a game in which the Jumpers scored the first 42 points. Somerset also shut out Glasgow at Glasgow. I think the state finals will be a good game no matter which two teams get there but I do think that the winner of the Somerset/Newport Central Catholic game will be the favorite.

Only perk I see to playing at home might be homer refs and since that "shouldn't " be a problem the next best perk is having the fans.....and that won't be a problem they'll be down by the bus loads...Breds will be ready to rock!!!!! I've watched enough football to know that if your team is good enough a little road trip won't change the outcome of a game!!!
11-19-2012, 07:49 PM
Someone earlier talked about the unfamiliarity of a road trip. Looking at their schedule and it doesnt appear that NCC has traveled more than 20 minutes from the house all year. I don't know that this will play a huge role, but taking kids out of routine is always a tough thing to overcome, that being said its a non school week primarily and they're all a little "off." this game is going to be determined by who makes the fewest mistakes in terms of penalties and turnovers. Both NCC and SHS are capable of winning this game if they play clean football. Both are physical and have speed. This will be a great high school football game!

Still got to believe you, the Coaches and the Players had rather be at Home and that in it's self is an advantage for Somerset. 2 very equal teams we will take every advantage we can get.

:HitWall:Crap, This is Kentucky and they never get the weather right 5 days ahead of time.
That means their is a 98% chance the weather will NOT be 51 degrees falling to 45 with an 18% of rain. With a steady wind of 7 mph.
So I predict the weather will be either 72 at Kickoff and 62 by the end. Or It could be 28 degrees at Kickoff with two feet of snow.nicker:
It should be a dandy of a game. Good Luck to both teams, I hope both teams exit it injury free.

^probably right but I've been using the NWS hourly forecast for years and it is more accurate than you would guess. Course I'm only looking on Friday nights, they mat screw it up the rest of the time...

Weather forecasters in Kentucky is a rough gig. In fact the only profession that is more wrong than a forecaster, and yet still gets paid would be a football referee.:biglmao:
Just joking I have mad respect for most High School Officials.
