Here is a comparison of 1a in Ky, make your own decisions.
#1
Well this took a while but, I have done the research and here is what the remaining teams in 1a look like. Now to get this was not by opinion or slight of hand. I went to Courier Journal and clicked on the Super 25 link. I used this computer because I couldn't use Litkenhous due to the fact that it is just Ky teams and several teams played out of state teams. It is important to know that these are rankings by state overall, not just their classes.

This will be fun !!
#3
To bad none of this matters when it comes to Friday night.
#4
My bad, on Lex Christian on Hazard's schedule, it should say they are #91 not #51.

Gut, if you don't think this matters then you don't understand football. This body of work is what gets these teams prepared mentally and in some cases physically for what they will be seeing at this point in the season.
#5
I think to avoid all the time, expense and travel just give the trophy to Mayfield like last year when they were big favorites. Oh wait, they didn't win last year.
I don't have time but could you rank the other 5 classes also?
#6
Thanks for the info, very interesting.

What do you see different 64. I didn't put anyone down. I promise you all this was not done to promote any team. I did a lot of work on this. I did it so you could make a good comparisons. I didn't intend for it to cause any of you any heart ache. A simple thanks would have been nice.
#9
I appreciate the info. Numbers have most of these teams pretty close other than Mayfield. Pikeville's numbers are a little skewed because they struggled early. Looking at the Raceland scores they are much better now. If these ranking were done based on how teams played the last month I'm sure they would fit right in there. I always struggle with these computer rankings because I see them on a regular basis were a team has traveled to another team and beat them soundly but are still ranked behind them. I have been looking at the Lit ratings for 30 years and this has always been an issue. The blow outs make it hard for a computer to calculate. If you are up 45-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and the score stays that way it would be calculated the same as a 45-0 game were the winning team scored 3 times in the 4th quarter.
#10
That is true to some extent E. I really don't think Pikeville wants anyone to think they are on the same level though. They play much better as an underdog. The Lit ratings usually start out a little skewed but, by the end of the seaon you can pretty well see they are almost dead on, on a regular basis. I would not by any means say that it is an exact science, after all that is why we play the games. There are lots of things that can happen between now and then to upset the work these computers have done as well. These things could be but are not limited to injuries, playing over your heads good, playing down to your competetion, a bad call, turnovers or even some field advantages. This is the best system we have for making comparisons though, without watching all the videos.
#11
I'll tak PHS because of tradition and their always ready deep in the playoffs! Same for Hazard! I think they will beat wburg comfortably! Good luck to both teams! No one will beat Mayfield IMHO! They should play up in class!

Well Hazard beat Mayfield last year so you can never tell what will happen. Maybe neither Hazard or Mayfield get to the carpet.

Nice effort there bud. I found it to be interesting. Here is my perspective on that list. I know some don't believe in strength of schedule but I do. Here is something to take into consideration. The following are stats of number of regular season top 100 ranked teams only and their win/loss record against those teams.

Mayfield 6 5-1
KyCD 0 0-0
Beechwood 5 1-4
Frankfort 3 2-1
Fairview 2 2-0
Pikeville 3 0-3
Hazard 4 1-3
Williamsburg 0 0-0

I realize some teams may not have played top 100 teams because of their division or proximity but I think this breakdown is very telling. This post is not intended to discredit or flatter any certain teams.
#14
Smashmouth, I don't know if you caught my stats for Luke Guhy on the other site. He to this point has thrown 28 touchdowns and only 1 int. If you would have told me it was only one, I don't know that I would have bought that. If you remember his brother had already thrown 3 by this point in 2010. The more impressive thing about it is that he has done it against a tougher schedule this year. This year GC, Murray, Caldwell and Russellville were all up. We also had Warren Cent, which was tougher than any team we played during the regular season in 2010.
#15
Well Smashmouth, I was gonna take this one step further than your analysis, but this is what I came up with. It kind of depressed me actually. I thought 1a would fair better than this because we usually find a way to challenge the big boys, but here it is. This is what you get if you compare the records of these 8 teams against teams in the top 50:

Mayfield 3 2-1
Ky Country Day 0 0-0
Beechwood 2 0-2
Frankfort 1 0-1
Fairview 0 0-0
Pikeville 2 0-2
Hazard 1 0-1
Williamsburg 0 0-0
