Can we get some dates for scrimmages? I'd like to catch a few if I can.
I know Pike Central has one on the 10th. Anyone know about Pikeville? Shelby Valley?
Maybe we've had this thread already, if so I couldn't find it.

Jack Whitman got hurt in the second or third quarter of the scrimmage. I hope he was ok it. I am speculating, but it looked like a high ankle sprain. I hope heâs ok, as he was very, very impressive.
As for East Ridge. They will have a quick team, and this game will do wonders for them. Once East Ridge calmed down, they looked good, but look young at some spots. They should be a good team, as the season goes along.
This doesnât have anything to do with the scrimmage, but I saw on the schedule that East Ridge is playing in the All-A against Pikeville in the first round. I asked Coach about it, and I was told due to East Ridgeâs attendance numbers dropping they are now considered an A school in Basketball. This is also the reason they are dropping out of distract play in Football next year too.

How did Catholic look without Whitman? Who looked good for both team?

Clay County played Louisville Male this weekend and fell 67-63. Clay led most of the way against the athletic team but ran out of gas. McDaniel from Clay had 27 including 12-12 from the foul line. He left the game in the final minute as he took an elbow to the face and needed stitches. Reed and Lyttle both had 10-12. Clay has a freshman, Wes Wolfe that will be seeing significant minutes if not starting this year. He had 2 of the best blocks I've seen in a long time in a high school game. Tigers will be a force with their athletic and long guards this year, but they're size might hold them back competing against some of the better teams in the state.

Catholic looked good without him, but not as good, but still good, I hope that makes sense. They spread the floor out more, and drove and kicked for threes, and open jumpers. Catholic had a couple of guards, I forget the numbers, and had a long wing player who was impressive. For East Ridge, of course Johnny Miller looked good, as always, he shot well, and was driving more than I've seen him in the past, which is a good thing. East Ridge had a post player, Hylton is his last name who looked very good against Catholic, I was shocked how much he improved. Fields for East Ridge looked good running the point too.

I'm looking forward to the Classic. I wish I could see Shelby Valley before, but there's not much chance I'll catch them at Richmond Model.
I did watch the first 3 quarters of Pike Central and Boyd County. The Blackburn boy looked strong around the basket. But they got hammered pretty good. I'm sure not having the football kids out hurt.

I also watched the Clay County and Louisville Male scrimmage, and I saw the blocks your talking about, and yes they were nice. I also saw the steal which lead to the dunk (HUGE) made by Blake Smith(in the JV game)the other freshman on the team. He also handled the ball pretty well against some very good defense as a back-up for McDainel. Great defense by the two freshmen as well. With Mcdainel, Wolfe, and Smith, not to mention the eighth graders coming up, CC has the very real chance of going to Rupp the next 3 or 4 years. They are going to be a lot of fun to watch!

Great observation BBallGuy. Wolfe and Smith will definitely be the first two guys off the bench this year and Wolfe could find himself starting. When McDaniel is a Sr and these two are Jrs, if Clay County can come up with a 6'5-6 guy who can just take up space, this team will be able to play with anyone in the state. Clay County basketball might finally be back!
