I'm not on my high horse but he is lucky charges weren't filed in Arkansas. He wasn't fired "with cause" voiding the rest of his contract just because he was cheating on his wife. You really think Arkansas did that to their football program just to make a point of morality? I don't.

Amen!! This article is so on the money!! But we probably do not have people in charge that have enough vision or guts to to do something about it! IMO, this might be the only chance we will ever have to get a coach of this caliber, considering our last 50 to 60 year history?

Barnhart was the guy who would have stuck us with another year of Joker. 50,000 seats and a nudge from upstairs changed his mind. He doesn't listen to the fan base. Send your emails and letters to the president of UK. Make sure you mention you have sent it there because the AD is not concerned with those who fill the seats. Barnhart was also forced to hire Calipari after his abysmal failure with BCG. Calpari was the obvious hire the first time but Barnhart was on his moral high horse and was going to show the fans how smart he was. We all saw that disaster.

Perhaps to some. But I don't like scumbags and I'd be okay with hiring him. Hear me out. He'd only get the job if he signed a contract that has clawback provisions in it. If he left before the end of his contract, he has to pay UK a bunch of money. If he was terminated before the end of his contract for cause, he has to pay UK a bunch of money.

I think a person can learn from his/her mistakes and turn his life around. I'm not gullible enough to think a person has done so just because he/she says so. Hence the clawback provisions.

If this guy misses coaching as badly as they say he does; if he wants to coach at UK as badly as they he does, then he'll accept a contract with clawback provisions in it. Heck, if he believes in himself as strongly as I think he does, I think he'd accept a pretty reasonable annual salary with kickers in it for on field success, lack of off field problems, etc. His past problems may be the only way we get a coach of his talent at a price we are willing to pay.

If it turns out that he hasn't changed, how are we harmed? Some embarrassment to the UK program? Yes. Although I think if we protected ourselves in the contract, I think most reasonable people would be reasonable in their judgment of us and conclude that the University didn't just blindly trust him. The destabilization of needing to bring in another head coach in such a short time? Again, yes. But I think the opportunity to get such a good coach is worth that risk.

Sometimes some folks have to get knocked off their high horse to turn their lives around. Hopefully, that would be the case with Petrino.

Don't get me wrong: if UK can find another HC with the coaching credentials of Petrino, I'd go with the other coach. But you have to admit, that's highly unlikely. So I say UK gives him another chance, but protects itself contractually.

I don't see how people can say go hire Petrino, give him a second chance blah blah blah after the scandal that he had at Arkansas and knowing of his past how he does teams. Their's more coaches out there that can win. We don't need nor want Petrino. If I recall Mitch has already said that he wasn't interviewing Petrino. If we hired Petrino we would be looking for a new coach within 2 years and we don't need that. We need someone that's gonna commit to a long term deal. I don't won't Petrino because of his past, yes everyone deserves second chances but Petrino has had plenty of second chances and he's still in the same boat, leaving schools after 2 years, affairs/scandals and so on

I will happily eat grilled crow breast ( with garlic and onion ) if this time next year we are bowl eligible and enjoying a good coach and staff at the helm, with players having success on and off the field.
